The Tu'i Ha'atakalaua line became the supreme in Tonga, a later Tu'i Ha'atakalaua created another Title for his son Gnata in western district of Tonga.

The First Tu'i Kanokupolu (King Flesh of Upolu) Gnata whose father was of the Tu'i Ha'a Takalaua and mother from Upolu (samoa) of Safata brought his aiga or Kainga from Upolu to the western district of Tongatapu.
So some parts of Tonga is mixed with Samoan blood which is the Hihifo district in Tongatapu where my family is from.

During the Tu'i Manu'a reign over the pacific, Tonga and many other islands of the Pacific brought Tu'i Manu'a gifts and many other items to pay tribute. Samoa did at one time have Tonga, for a short period of time, but what fascinates the world is how Tonga ruled not just Samoa, but Fiji, Niue, etc. History also says Tonga was first settled some 4,000 years ago by the so-called Lapita people, who were ancestral to all of Polynesia.
