@JVbin - No direct historical basis for the sketch, although Victoria was rather keen on physical intimacy, contrary to what modern mythology would have us believe. I think my interest in the Victorian period has only heightened my enjoyment of this brilliant M&W piece, and it has to be my personal favourite of all time. I don't think comedy gets any better than this.

I'd love to know if there was an actual (though obviously quite loose) historical basis for this sketch? Did Queen Victoria actually say something like this? I know that's the whole joke that she would say something like this, BUT it would explain the sheer frustration & rage with which Mitchell wrote/delivered that glorious rant. That's one way of making a DM Rant even more classic... Setting in the 19th Century. LMFAO
