Just this one song qualifies them as the best ever, never mind the 32 other hits and over 300 wonderful songs. 50 years old now and have been a Slade fan for 39 of them (since Look Wot U Dun).
@missmarypickford That's right, Mary. With hindsight, I believe that Slade stayed too long in America, and I think the same could be said of The Bay City Rollers. Both groups were talented, and deserved to remain at the top for considerably longer than they actually did. The kind of success that Slade achieved in the UK - between November '71 and December '73 - is difficult to sustain in the ever-changing world of pop music and image (as The Rollers discovered, just a few years later).
@sputnik0069 Hang on this is Slade and Cheap Trick were influenced big time by Slade, I doubt if anything would have come of Cheap Trick had they not been inspired by them. Or what are you trying to say???
Hell, with lyrics like these, no wonder American radio had a tough time with them. Obvious influence on AC/DC, not just lyrically, but musically as well. Grooving Hard Rock.
Wow, I agree. I didn't realize just how much. I'm a huge AC/DC fan but I've been browsing Slade for a little while and I'm embarrassed I didn't know more about them! Fantastic!!
Freakin' awesome.

Slade in1975 on uk tv. It reached no.11 in the UK charts. Do you agree they were better than ABBA? ha, ABBA don't compare!
