After the Watson fight, he lost some of his killer intent it seemed like. I can't say that I blame him, that kind of experience would be rough on anyone.
so true mate, i allways thought uebank was the man even though most preffered ben. i must admit watson was schooling him up until that animal of a punch. 2 great boxers careers were spoiled that night as uenbank never unleased the power after that. those were the days man, none of this pay per view bollocks and 5 years of a decent boxer fighting nobody's. boxing is a joke now
If a girl hits you you return the favour using the same pound 4 pound force that she applied on you, if you don't then you are a goddess worshipping mummies boy with a big forehead and your name is Mungo! Period.
I agree Benn or Eubank would have given James Toney, Michael Nunn, Frank Tate or even Roy Jones a torrid time. these could have been competitive fights
you know, after the watson fight Eubank became an 'out fighter' were he would only win people on points, like when collins beat him. chris had collins bloodied and bashed but wouldnt finish him. chris on the other hand never had a scratch on his face.
Thats right, Chris showed his humanity after the Watson fight because not only did he mess Watson up permanently but, he was lucky to get the win against Michael!
r u serius? i agree benn would beat nunn (most of d time) but saying benn was d hardest MW puncher is complete BS. both jackson n mcclellan was on a whole other level when it came to punching power. its not even a contest. they 25 n 27 on d hardest punchers ever (id have em both in d top 10) n benn is like 100-80 somewhere. benn was a more aggressive type of puncher who wore his opponents down wit constant pressure, his 1punch KO power wasn't even close to dat of julian or gerald
Power destroys in a punch,Gerald and Jackson had this, one punch, explosive power, but they could NOT throw them consistantly.
Nigel did not have that, Nigel had a HARD punch, which was consistently thrown over and over with every punch, the power remains the same, HARD, NOT POWERFUL.
A hard punch is grinding whereas,a powerful punch is blinding.
Benn was a harder puncher than the aforementioned as his punches were accumulative, no power needed!
twisting words.. i'd say he had heavy handed punching power n wore his oponents down wit accumulative punishment as a result of pressure.. which is exactly what u said n i ment to begin wit. julian n gerald had explosive power.. atleast we on d same page though, just expressed ourselfs diffrently
The British are the most powerfull nation in the world. Pound for pound, Punch for punch. The only diffrence is money, but from the playgrounds of europe(with the highest no1. ranked GDP rate in the world. The british are the heavyweights of the EU. Germany and there Car and tech industry is only a sense of pitty, although as a uni-collab, we remain strong
He was talented, but don't let this clip fool you. He couldn't beat three American middleweights of this same time period: James Toney, Roy Jones, and Bernard Hopkins. They weren't on the radar at that point though, pity.
I hate to tell you this but Jones avoided Eubank like the plague. Eubank's camp made more than one solid offer for Jones, but he was more interested in weight-jumping at the time. And name one "great" fighter Toney beat even at his proper weight. Hopkins I agree with, but Eubank was the goods and vastly overlooked in his day.
I agree everything I've seen of Eubanks leads me to believe he was a quality stylistic boxer, maybe even a boxer/puncher. Otherwise, I disagree with you.
Disagree with what? Eubank's camp DID offer to Jones, who turned it down. That's just fact. Even if you think Jones beats Eubank, Jones was the one who walked away from it.
Very true. Eubank fought and beat everyone in his path for over 6 years and they were far better opponents than Calzaghes. Calzaghe is still the better fighter though. If he had better opponent, he still would beat them.
Eubank was a character not just a boxer, he transcended the sport. He probably was as good as he was made out to be but he was always interesting and a great entertainer.
Eubank ws one of the funniest boxers to have entered the ring. I remember him telling james toney: "i think you are purely ignorant, and i will teach you a boxing letthon" after toney claimed that all british fighters were bums. I wish eubank had stepped it up a level, he could hve beaten jones or toney if he was on his game.
Eubank also fought Calzaghe and Collins! So don't know where u get that information that he only fought nobodies from!

addyb606 3 years ago
This was a middleweight bout. He also fought at supermid light-heavy & cruiserweight.
He was a 2 weight world champ for 6 yrs & career undefeated as a middleweight.
ShoeiBoy 3 years ago
He was never the same after he permanently injured Michael Watson
Stopped throwing the big right like the one in this clip & tried to win each fight on points instead.
Defeated 3 times at Supermid because of that twice to Steve Collins and once to Calzaghe.
Calzaghe (career undefeated & 10 year world supermid champ) said Eubank was the hardest fight of his career.
Even with the defeats 45-3 record is impressive.
Very under-rated fighter.
We'll never know what he could have achieved.
