Are the fruits of the purple passion flower edible? They grow wild around here and I have cultivated it in my garden because the flowers are so unusual and beautiful and help draw in the bees!
Farmer John Koman says: some parts of the plant are hallucenogenic and I am not sure if it is the leaves or the flowers or both. We do not recommend either to be eaten - if you are looking for something really special, try pineapple guava petals - sugary like nectar and very pleasant - a great addition to a salad in small portions (otherwise you would not get fruit unless the flower was already pollinated and then how would you know!)
Great video. I didn't know we grew passion fruit in the United States for commercial use. I have a few vines that I started from seed but our winter here in Texas will probably kill them.
For Fruitguys, what will happen to passion fruit plant in the winter? I wanted to grow passion fruit in my backyard, but I heard it may die in the winter, is it true?
I love passion fruits but I though it had green skin not purple?

It will come back every year if you cover the bottum of the vine with lots and lots of mulch just before the winter.
