  • s'right,but at the time,last name was a Perfect!

  • Oh yeah. Did some research and it is C.M.

  • That's gotta be Christine McVie singing. The vocal analyzer in my head says so.

  • This is just a great song, however this one of the best takes on it,so sweet

  • Remember Etta James...

  • yes, it was and still is one of the best ever...even better then Etta's nor because Etta is not great, but because Christine Perfect is PERFECT!

this song was one of the most popular song in disco clubs in Sarajevo in late 70's...

  • I think I like this even better than Etta James' version (and that takes some beating!).

  • Cristine Perfect....fronted this band, and later married Mc Vie...and became a front figure in Fletwood Mac...Yes...her maiden name was in fact Perfect..but i guess she was more known as Cristine Mc Vie...*Take care out there*.. 8)

  • @ ondine-As I said long after Peter Green left!

  • AWESOME!!!

  • I always liked Christine as much as Stevie This is a super good example of her work before joining Fleetwood Mack. Thank you for posting this...excellent sound quality.

  • This was the first song I ever danced to, aged 15. I haven't heard it since, till tonight, and my god, what memories it brings back. Of being stirred and moved and not understanding why, how to behave, or what to do with the feelings. The words are so simple; it's Perfect's voice that makes it. Thanks for posting it.

  • @Venus42

Your welcome, i love this song too

  • @RedArmyMostar Me too.

    TD

  • @Venus42

Your welcome, i love this song too

  • @Venus42 Totally! I used to break out the Jerkins Lotion, and just work that bad boy... lefty, righty and all ways... until booom!

  • @Venus42 AMEN....

  • @Venus42 how do you dance to this song?

  • @DazedConfused1969 Slowly and romantically! That's the way I remember it @ 40 + years ago!

  • @DC1969 The boy and I just moved in slow circles, swaying a bit to the music, never daring to look at each other. He linked his fingers in the small of my back and I put one hand on his shoulder and one on his waist. It felt so strange! Except as children, it was only the second time I had ever touched a boy. I was confused, embarrassed, elated and emotional; it's not easy to find there's a woman inside you when you're still a girl. The memory is burned into my soul.

  • I have this on a vinyl single, havn't heard it for years..... still awesome to hear that tune and that voice!

  • dobra ova...pozdrav za mostar :)

  • masterpiece

  • Christine joined the Mac long AFTER Peter Green left!

  • @Incomplete6230,

Actually, she joined during the Kiln House tour, which took place a few months after Peter left;)

  • @MsOndine -As I said Long after Peter Green Left!

  • One of the best songsof any era! Yes you are Perfect! Shame about the eight deaf people here.Maybe they thought it was video only!

  • Those who gave it 8 dislikes must not have an appreciation for music at all.

  • @cuznit7 Christine perfect is Christine McVie

  • @peacefulpurple1955 Christine Perfect married John McVie from Fleetwood Mack,he was the Mac in the group. Christine also toured with Fleetwood Mac and played piano on there records. This was before Peter left Fleetwood Mac of course. A talenetd lady indeed

  • cuzinit

thats because it is!! christine perfect, as she was then

  • I love this version. It sounds like Christine McVie.

  • So sad these times have gone by......Christine...you were and are truly Perfect!!!

  • Christine Perfect!!!Perfect!!!

  • @Orca40 Met him perhaps but recorded this with the Shack as Christine Perfect.

  • This song makes me realise how much I've hurt my wife - and how much I regret doing so. I love you Karin and I'm so so very sorry.

  • @norwichleaper dont tell us. tell her.

  • @norwichleaper - Oh what a lovely thought, norwichleaper - I do hope your deep love is rewarded, its certainly touched our hearts!. xxxx

  • I have listened to this and the Etta James version and I actually prefer this version I think.

  • Wow, I heard this today for the first time on a woodstock era cd I bought, I have listened to it over 10 times already. They just do not make music like they used to!

  • Heartbreaking, enough said

  • note some of the English phrasing/pronunnciation which makes it distinct from the great Etta James version!

  • love this always have but ETTa james i think has the edge on this song probably because she made the origonal and has a brilliant voice BUT this is good christine macve( i know i have spelt that wrong).

  • Who was in Chicken Shack? Sounds like Christi McVie .....

  • @PJ7272 Christine McVie was the singer in Chicken Shack before fleetwood mac!

  • This song is so amazing! Love this since first time I heard back in 75 or 76. Such an amazing talent.

  • This song is so amazing! Love it!!!

  • Gud Nite ......

  • Sekalian aja deh . mumpung ketemu .. great version ! to sist adhe ..

  • Has always been my Mum's favourite song, only just heard it the now

  • great version...............it's a shame how she was so overlooked by the general public in fleetwood mac.........

  • @johnnyrockintalkin I once saw Mick Fleetwood being interviewed, and he said a lot of people have forgotten the fact that Christine was responsible for most of Mac's hit singles :) I love Stevie's and Lindsey's work too; I think it's brilliant that three very different people brought their unique gifts to the band, just like the individual Beatles did. Christine has such a warm, soulful voice. I <3 this song :)

  • nice at 20, great at 30, part of your life at 40.

  • excellent

  • Nobody mentioned those marvelous covers they did, realy artistic work, hats down...

  • Wow this is a fabulous song....... love it.

  • Love this! I believe I like Christine's version even to the original. Is that blasphemy?!

  • @DavidJeffersonTull Yes :-)

  • @MartijnHover Lol, i thought it might be. Well just call me blasphemer :-)~

  • If you guys think this girl can sing, and this version is good, then you all need to educate yourself and check out Koko Taylor's version of this. It shits on this version. Peace.

  • @ThaTruthsTeacher who is koko taylor?

  • @TheRikerman OMG. The queen of blues bro. Check her out by typing in Koko Taylor. She died in 2009. RIP. Also you should listen to her song I Got what it Takes, its fucking incredible. Type in Koko Taylor I'd Rather Go Blind. Shits on this version by chicken shack. Enjoy.

  • @ThaTruthsTeacher. Your right about Koko shes absolutely brilliant, playing her music all the time now.

  • My, the girl can sing!!!!

  • christine is perfect at this song yes!

  • Used to watch Chicken Shack at Tolworth Bowl way back when ..... Great to relive those days!!

  • My favourite version of this great song.

  • christine perfect- named appropriately

  • Beautiful.

  • Cheers Mate, I accept you are right, it's just I used to see her in Wimbledon quite a lot when I was a mere stripling, so I assumed she was from around there. Sorry!!

  • Godalming? I grew up there - used to live on Church Street - way back when. Never listened to this on a Sunday night though. Too busy terrorising the neighbourhood! Nice song though.

  • She has a pretty voice, but I think her voice isn't right for this song. This song requires a female voice that is very soulful, gut wretching, and deep. She doesn't have that quality to her voice. Just my opinion.

  • one of my favs from long ago

  • i've got a brilliant version of this from a Peel session on tape ... haven't got a bloody clue how to upload it here though : (

  • @programkill oh wow Id love to hear that!

  • I used to listen to this Band in Godalming...Sunday nights................Big Kisses to Christine.

  • Paloma Faith...X

  • Beautyful

  • im in utube heaven again- how did this happen?

  • best recording ever

  • I love this song. Absolutely love it. But the band are dressed like goblins!

  • Her vocals have always been distinct from her oldest recording to her latest solo record. No doubt it's Christine Mcvie!

  • sweet jebus this is some nice shit here!

  • aint it cool tho bloody hell man not heard for a long time

  • very nice song. thank you for posting

    cheers

  • Christine is great but her voice is too "soft" for this sombre song.

  • first time heard this in over 30 yrs i am still moved

  • christine perfect just perfect

  • Happy Birthday Christine....you are PERFECT on this song!!

  • Etta James !!!!

  • sounds like bare trees, cause she married john mc vie and joined fleetwood mac just after recording this beauty..now christine mc vie

  • Stan Webb...great guitar

  • @jacktheledge : Stan's up there with the best and has been overlooked when the top guns are mentioned. Also a great singer. (Listen to "What you did last night")

  • @bluseyg

saw him cupla yrs ago ona double header wth John Mayall............it dont come much better trhan that!

  • I know this was an Etta song, but i love Christine 's version,, even Rod Stewart did a version, as much as I like Rod for me this is the definitive version.....

  • OK Looks like she was in Fleetwood Mac also..

  • Did Fleetwood Mac do this also. This really sounds like Bare Trees.............I am not familar with this group at all. yet, it sounds soo familiar. Anyone know why?

  • a true masterpiece...full of feeling!!!!!

  • I have all the vinyl! hehehe

  • Beautiful..i have never heard Christine's voice on this track, only knew Etta's version..

    Its Great!..:-)

  • It doesn't get any better than this!

  • The best part is seeing the band dressed in medieval clothing and the name chicken shack written above them.

  • Fabulos!!.

  • my heart was broken when i first heard this song.

  • great blues voice

  • eine der besten platten die jemals aufgelegt wurden

  • But i still wn To see.."""""""What a track

  • gorgeous

  • hey theres a song called the house that love lives in by chicken shack its such an awsome bluesy song can anyone please upload it somehow please its off the anthology album called going up and going down!... everyone needs to hear that song atleast everyone who appreciates the BLUES

  • My favorite chicken shack song was talking to stan today he's still playing

  • I love Christine McVie and basically whatever comes out of her mouth. Her voice is still keeping up and her talent is undisputed. She was one of the greatest blues pianists at the time in England. Even Greenie wanted her expertise of the piano (Love That Burns, Long Grey Mare). There's a reason why she way a Fleetwood Mac kingpin.

  • que voz!!!! que VOZ!!!

  • and your point is ??

  • @jonnylazer

If you were addresing me, I thought my point was pretty clear. If not, watch the video of Etta James doing this song. That will explain it better than I can.

  • Ive heard every version of this song, I like the Chicken Shack version best....and your point is ?

  • My point is I don't, for reasons I already explained. There can be valid points besides your own, you know.

  • I agree. When I first heard this in the '60s I thought it was fab. It took the English immitationists to lead us to the true motherload such as Etta James so they are not to be blamed but instead valued as they mostly were by the black artists they copied as their success lead to increased recoginition and success for the original artists.

  • great tune. Actually made the UK charts in 69.

  • eine sternstunde...

    timeless and deep

  • hoppla, lange nicht mehr gehört, lovleymusic...

  • dobre

  • Cheers.

  • @hottapper you are all over the board as far as musical tastes; thanks for the share/ expierence

  • I was young, still I am , but this number was and is also one of the best of my jukebox . Hard to find these days !

  • Not really hard to find: It's on a CD called 'The Best of Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac' on Columbia Records. The track ended up on this album because Christine VcVie went to join F.M.

  • Also found on "The Legendary Christine Perfect Album" cataloged under Christine Mcvie.

  • Awesome song done right!

  • wow first time listening to them... what a beautiful song, it hits deep in my heart T_T

  • @filpablo - very nice, but give a listen to the amazing michael grimm singing this song...last week he also sang alicia keys' song: fallin'...he's unbelievable!!!

  • @filpablo Check out Etta James version.....Thats the original, as far as I know.....or at least the best

  • some beautiful moment of music

  • Одлично!

    Хвала брате! Бог с тобом!

  • este video esta brabaso

  • this is the best version out of the 3 ive heard, including beyonce and etta

  • I saw Chicken Shack at Reading festival in the early 1980's for the first time. I've seen them lots since then and spoken to Stan Webb on several occasions. Last time I saw them was in York and he was pissed and a bit obnoctious. Still one of the best blues guitarists you will see though. Long may he play.

  • Christine Mc Vey has one of the best female voices in the world, her voice is so rare Its soft blues and even somethig more no one sound like her ever, so gentel no stress and note pushing its like grey velvet laced with blue diamonds with silver threads of beautiful melodys and deep rich musical emotion....truely one of a kind.

  • Wow, now that's *quite* an evocative description. Nice.

  • I saw Christine sing this with The Chicken Shack at The Locarno, Streatham Hill, about 1966,67 ish.

    Perfect.

  • nice

  • Lady steals my heart. Ive always thought Christine was a Big part of The Mac. The band's second album, Mr. Wonderful, was released in August 1968. It was an all-blues album with Christine Perfect (McVie) of Chicken Shack featured. Check out the artwork on Kiln House, Macs fourth album. Shes been there from the beginning.

I got to see her in Denver 82 when she came through with a group called The Zoo, Mick on drums, WHAT A PREFORMER. All McVie the whole night, Beautiful.

  • Killer tune ...

    My fav version ...

  • Greetings;

I have tons of old Fleetwood Mac recordings and this song and version is included. I have thought that it was a Fleetwood mac song but this is the exact recording with Christine Perfect singing the perfect song

    Scott

  • Scott this is from single 45 Chicken Shack

chek the first slide, that is origonal Cover for single 45 of Cjicken Shack, now is hard to find

  • i still have the original single:-)

but chicken shak cd's are hard to find,

i still got that lp '100 ton chiken' and 'ok ken' wich i found the best , but never found it on cd,don't know if it is even released on cd.

  • All albums of Chicken Shacl are release on Cds, so look for them, cheers

  • ok,thank you for the information. But whenever i am in a recordstore i allways look for them but never found any, probably looking in the wrong stores hey:-) Now i know they are released on cd i will order them, great! Again thanks for the information.

  • That fast fade is criminal...Who plays guitar on this?

  • @chancesareshewears Believe that's Stan Web. This song is from the first Chicken shack Album. I highly recommend checking out all the early Chicken Shack. Great stuff. Band member's are progenitors for the likes of Fleetwood Mac, and Savoy Brown (check out their stuff also)..

  • @chancesareshewears the great Stan Web

  • Christine is perfect.

  • this is great.

  • I grew up on this version then found ettas version and i am sooo torn but I think this version is brilliant....... thanks to chicken shack and etta james for the recordings

  • Did Peter Green do the guitar in this?

  • No, this was before Peter`s time. She shared the same record lable as Peter Green; Blue Horizon

  • oh god! very nice!

  • *****

  • prachtig

  • CHRISTINE RULES !!!!!!

  • takes me back to 1967 kings lynn ...live

  • Makes me cry

  • Joy.....

  • Christine Perfect at her very best.... she has to be the best female singer to come out of Birmingham. Moody and magnificent.............

  • @TV175mod Don't know if she ever lived in Birmingham, but she sure wasn't born there.

  • @TV175mod Christine was from Godalming, not Birmingham.,fyi

  • @cantwellp1

Sorry mate, she was born in Cumbria and lived in Bearwood, B/ham where her father Cyril was a music lecturer at Saltley College.

  • fantastic song great version even beyonce sings a nice copy

  • Some songs were written for pure enjoyment - no extra words necessary!

  • I think this might be the best version
