George wrote this beautiful song and Sinatra sang it awesome. Both have not comparison, both are the BEST. Nothing can compares to the Beatles or Sinatra. Both rules!
@endgammer .......lol ya think so......everyones taste is differant, Sinatra was good, but Johnny Mathis was better.....their styles were completly differant for sure, Johnny was very romantic, and I'm a hopless romantic.........have a Happy Thanksgiving......
Did they ever record this version on a record? The only version I have ever heard is the Don Costa arrangement that was all strings. I actually like this version better. Thanks again for posting.
@76gregw He did - October 28 1970 with Lennie Hayton (arranger/conductor). The one you are referring to was in fact arranged by Nelson Riddle (though the rest of "The Present" was by Costa) and conducted by Vincent Falcone, Jr. on December 3 1979. Pretty much any live version of "Something" after 79 is the Riddle version.
This is definitely the best version of this song. Sinatra is such an amazing singer, I don't like to call it that, I think it's better than singing, It's poetry.
@rbhumes Yeah But why should his opinion count? He is just a relic of a time in music that had become insignificant once the Beatles came. here Zcomes the sun is a much better George Harrison song.
Sinatra was a Legend and Legends always appreciate good music , No matter if written by beatles coz Music is to Enjoy & Lift our mind not to go by who wrote or it If it was a BigHit .
@ipv13 except the beatles...seeing as how this is their song. haha not ragging on sinatra, he's one of my favorites, but this probably isn't the place to say that considering he's covering one of the most covered songs of all time by the biggest band of all time
@bfont007 i was refering to the movie "analize me" robert deniro says that phrase, and there's no point of comparison, lennon compose songs, sinatra never compose, their styles are completely diferent, so dont start a fight, even better, its my opinion, you have yours and i respect it
@Acoyte1994 The Beatles are better than Frank Sinatra, I can sing to, but The Beatles made their own songs, made a revolution in music. All Frank Sinatra does is sing other peoples songs, and they all sound the same. Its gets boring, but The Beatles have alot of variety. Im not trying to say Frank Sinatra is bad, hes a very good singer, but hes definately not the best.
@CoIeStones Ok, I don't want to argue with a Beatles fan, the possibility that Sinatra was a best singer. I only say that your point was weak, because with that argument you can say even that Daddy Yanky is better than The Beatles, Sinatra, Ray Charles, Jerry Lee Lewis, Beethoven, Chuck Berry or Chaikowsky. Your new point is better, congrats
As far as a singer and performer, Sinatra is the King.
