  • Brilliant, Entwistle leads this song with his bass line - as usual with The Who... check it out live at the Rockpalast 1981, they played it slightly faster there but with an even more powerful bass.

  • This is just such a great song. I'd forgotten that this was after Keith passed away. Amazing bass, great harmonies, great lyrics, great songwriting.

  • Life after Keith... It's hard.

  • fuck your forced commerical

  • Entwhistle (THE MAN!!)makes This mediocre Who Song sound Great!!!

  • @Lordofthebass1

This is one my favorite Who songs because it is such a great point, just gotta get used to it, this is not social crisis, this is just [whoever] having fun … great, rock'n'roll never die. This is great. It's true though that Entwistle makes the song filling in the lead with trebly bass where Townshend is hammering the power chords, you can see that by looking at some other versions of this song without him.

  • not the same without Kieth :(

  • @Turbo5Turtle

But this is as good as it gets without him.

  • omg where is keith moon because that drummer is not keith moon

  • @xbox36155 Keith Moon was already dead. That's Kenney Jones, from The Faces.

  • Happy Birthday Roger!!!! I remember those episodes of Highlander: The Series. ;). Live Forever!!! Rock on!!!!

  • The Who were such badasses...

  • This band! ;D

  • did i just witness the best bass playing ever?

  • @MrSqueazle You sure did my friend, There's noone like Entwistle.

  • @MrSqueazle It doesn't look like Les Claypool is in this video.

  • @DustinTheWind2121 Entwhistle would mop the floor with him & Claypool knows it.

  • @MrSqueazle It's a shame the best drumming wasn't their to back it up

  • love it.. i remember it..and its timeless!

  • Ahh! This is MUSIC ♥

  • RIP John, I hope you rock the fuck out of all the angels in heaven along with Keith. <3

  • Every day is a tricky day. When you included the stock market, GNP, and other CEO bull less Balls.

  • Hello Everyone!! XD

My life is complicated but when I sing I can forget about all my problems.

I don’t know if when you’re listening to music you feel the same way I feel when I sing.

Day and night I always dream with open eyes.

Music makes my world better day by day.

Through the music I can be who really I AM and I’m so grateful.

All you guys will think I’m crazy but you’re wrong I’M IN LOVE WITH MUSIC.

Please stop by my channel and check out my covers. That’s all it takes.

    Thank you so much.

  • Fella!

  • Pop Perfection!!

  • I start with the vids when they are young than work my way up its really neat to see a band mature

  • LOVE this!

  • Roger Daltrey still looks exactly the same.

  • I've never seen a copy of this video that plays at the proper speed of the original recording. This is very sped up, and a higher pitch than the original, but it sounds so cool!

  • sucks

  • Back when MTV showed music videos this was part of the rotation.

  • THis is no social crisis, this is ME having fun!!!!!!!

  • aww addiction, is tricky every day.

  • Hello, Christopher Walken.

  • and i love the quality of the vid...its great btw...

  • I remember this video when it came out..im agin myself lol love them soo much!!

  • Point of the song is to fight back and make your own way in life. No one can help you. It's up to the individual, not the state. Townshend had already given up on socialist utopian idealism. Government is not the answer. Self-interest is a virtue, not an evil.

  • Pete Townshend is a genius! What a great song about life! This is what gave me the courage and inspiration the day I made my first cold calls as a saleman in downtown Cleveland! Thanks to The Who, I made it through, again and again!

  • lol, adblock

  • what's up with those taped microphones?

  • @kristijanog Roger likes to swing the mic around by the cord and he didn't want the mic to fly off the cord.

  • the thing i like about john is that he was never worried about being on camera, cause you DEFINATELY HEARD HIM!!

  • The OX never smiles.

Maybe not high as fuck on stage.

Regardlesss, he died high, I plan to as well.

  • @ridgeback69z :-O

  • John Entwistle- the most cool, calm, ah fuck it he's the best ever. Just like The Who.

  • Same Bass Amps as John Deacon's???

  • I feel sorry for the younger people, they didn't get to enjoy

    the music and the time.

  • What are you guys talking about? I don't see VEVO ads on YouTube. Do you want to know why? It's because I don't use Internet Explorer....I use Mozilla Firefox and have the free Adblock Plus add-on that blocks the ads.

  • The way Mr. Entwistle slides through the bass lines still makes the hair on my arms stand up!

  • What really sucks about these fucking ads is you can't fast forward through them.

  • Any of you punks that dis' The Who or Pete T. don't know anything about music. These guys are 1 of the Top 5 bands in Rock History. By their catalog alone. They helped invent the genre. Their 20 best songs are legendary in anyone's book. More cheesy knock-offs have copied The Who's style than any band.

  • If you don't like VEVO ads then do the following...get Firefox and then get one of their Video-ad suppressants like I did. It took me a few pages here to figure out what all these Yahoos were yammering on about. Oh, I get it...you still get to See the ads...Poor suckers. :(.......................

  • @Zettel9016 Just gotta get use to it.

  • It's funny. You watch videos of a band in the wild young heyday and they seem so cool. Then you see them in a different era looking all modified and dejected - It's like seeing a cool high school guy going back to high school at the age of 31. Ain't cool..

  • @RayL1983 they evolved like all bands do,dumbass.

  • they were wrong.. rock and roll is dead.

  • great song

  • "Rock and roll will never die"

Unfortunately it died, along with other music. Or better yet, music died. And the irony is that music started to die just about the time I was born; mid 1990s...

  • The Who is so good that neither the spoils Vevo

  • great fucking tune!!!

  • "Yeah" Lets fuck some kids!!! WTF

  • This is no social crisis, oh no

this is is just another tricky day for you

Brrrraaaabbb bbaaah - trying to get Townshend's chords here. ;-)

Yeah, there is no social crisis, no! People get bombarded while we hunt behind yet another bigger TV, the monetary betrayal colapses under its own weight, more and more boni are given to the managers, people who gave their own blood for freedom are called names, but this is no social crisis, no no! It is just a tricky day for you, you know.

    Think I'm mad!

  • I really love this song! ♥

  • Seiously I don't understand why people complain so much about the vevo ads. You should just be thankful that you can listen to great bands like this wherever you want, as much as you want, for FREE. If you find vevo so fucking annoying go buy the album, save the negative comments for yourself and let the rest of us enjoy the music.

  • what are you? an advertising rep? Not enough corporate programming?

  • @anapamela08 you are wrong! YT should be totally free and made by people in it and not by business

  • @anapamela08 what VeVo ads? My AddBlocker Pro blocks them all. the only time I saw one was when I disabled ADP to watch an ad...

  • @anapamela08 We'll just have to get used to it.Vevo irritates me,my friend..

  • @anapamela08 Because it's a trend, majority of the people commenting don't even have a reason to hate VEVO. It's just like those arrow in the knee jokes... Half the people commenting haven't even played skyrim yet.

  • @anapamela08

    well said !!

  • @anapamela08 I have to watch an ad and then I can't even hear a stereo version?

  • @auerstadt06 First world problems.

  • @anapamela08 or, they can adjust the settings of their add-blocker to prevent the ads from playing. I never knew Vevo had ads until a year ago...I turned off the add-blocker to see what the big deal was.

  • @tomthefunky Grow up, douchebag. No one's intimidated by your bullshit internet threats. You'd realize that if your brain weren't the size of a "fucking walnut".

  • @anapamela08 shut up

  • 0:00

  • Happy Birthday Keith Moon! (R.I.P)

  • this sounds like new wave..

  • No one ever made the bass guitar sound as fucking cool as Entwistle

  • @Gruntfuttock100 not only that but he looks just as cool as he makes it sound

  • Comment removed

  • One of their bestest songs ever!!! And that say a shitload!

  • The harmony vocal sound like Crosby, Stills and Nash. Pete won't be amused!

  • I like it ...

  • 1982

  • The whole thing sounds like they are on helium. When I repaired the speed on this video & posted it, it was blocked. The least the "official" VEVO could do is upload a version where they don't sound like chipmunks.

  • in this video roger daltrey look's like christopher walken

  • by far the band's worst period for hair. except for John

  • @cootaloot (More or less) Their worst period for music too.

  • Holy shnarky, the bass line in this song kicks ass

  • I remember MTV showing this 3 or 4 times a day back in 1981.

  • @hamtrak ME TOO! They made three videos on the same set including you better you bet and dont let go the coat. together they played 15 to 20 times a day, since all three were on their "hot list" GOOD TIMES!

  • @hamtrak I wish I were alive in 1981, then...

  • @AmandaKitswell It was so awesome to be young at that time. I was in high school from 1979-1983 and the music, attitudes and everything was amazing. ....so much fun!

  • @scar78201 It was....I'm a couple years older but the feelings are the same... :)

  • feedback sons

    lemme tell you

    unexpired neil alex geddy

    page plant

    townsend VOICE

    of rock n roll

  • john entwistle is the man

  • @townshendsmash Yah he is. Love his tone too, he simply just kicks ass.

  • face dances one of the greatest and most underrated albums in rock history

  • This song is actually good considering Keith was gone.

  • Why do people hate on Jones? He's a bad ass drummer with great feel. He's not Kieth Moon. Nobody is. The 80's didn't "kill" drumming either. You probably just haven't bothered to actually learn anything about drumming or drummers if you're making such a retarded claim.

  • @nugznmugz Well spoken and probably right - sometimes people deserved to be called out for their comments!!!

  • No crisis, just you having fun, there's no crisis, getting burnt by the Sun. I salute that Pete, right on bros!

  • Rock and roll WILL NEVER die!

  • Another Dickey Day For Townsend!

  • @kemalmstf you're an idiot.

  • The 3 people who disliked this were looking at the screen upside down.

  • i just can't understand the choice of jones as new drummer. tragic loss of drums. completely inane style. yawn.

  • @planetprince67 Clearly you haven't heard him play with his first band the Small Faces. He sounds kind of like Keith (I said kind of). Trust me, he only sounds inane because it was the 1980s. Drumming died (with only Neil Peart surviving this) this decade.

  • Daltry kinda resembles Christopher Walken here

  • Daltrey, Townsend and Entwistle at their best.

  • Great Vid ... THX for posting )

  • John Alec Entwistle- Best rock bassist in history

  • @DWDave67 Amen, brother

  • without a doubt!!! love that bass...that neck is kick ass..

  • @DWDave67 THANK FRIKIN GOD! I was under the assumption in was Pete Wentz.... WHEW....What a God send. JUST JOKING! I am sure there are millions who do believe that he is,POOR BASS-TARDS!

  • @DWDave67

The best bouncing "slap sound" ever ... hammering on the strings (and not pulling on them like most people do when they slap).

  • We all take it in the end, you just got to get used to it. We go down and come up again. Pete Townsend slipping another tricky line of lyric's in there. Pete took in the end many a times, he got used to it. I'm sure he went down a lot too. LOL

  • @l2string True dat

  • No one can acurately define Rock 'n' Roll....except Pete Townshend.

  • Townshends powerchords were bone crunching in this song.

  • Townshend = Genius

"Society" is illusion. When individuals are unconscious of the joy within them, societies implode. Ain't nothing "marginal" 'bout that.

  • I love how much passion Townshend throws into even a marginal song like this. It's clear HE believes what he's singing and playing... and that means WHO, bay-behh.

  • Not a marginal song at all ... it's a classic. Roger Daltrey at his best.

  • the who , un groupe qui a sa place auprès des the rolling stones et des beatles

  • Nasty, nasty bassline. Thunderfingers at his funkiest.

  • lol he cant dance

  • Entwistle performs a bass clinic.

  • John Enthwistle he reallly shines on this song, proof what he brought to the table.

  • what a cool bass and drums!

  • that bass is fucking monster huge!

  • Rock is dead, they say. Long live rock!

  • FUCK why are those commercials turned up 4839020 times louder than the music?? GO FUCK YOURSELF VEVO I WONT BUY THAT SHIT ANYWAY

  • ....we tried but you were yawning look again.....

  • Vevo...go away!

  • rock is not dead. stop that talk!

  • rock is dead

  • wish moon still was alive

  • Rock N Roll will never die ! I really miss this band... Great vid /post

  • This is a cracking good tune. Lucky to have had some of the best musicians in the business all in one band. And of course not forgetting Keith. Still a huge miss after all these years.

  • pete's still looking good after 40 years :)

  • Thanks VEVO for fucking up another great video by sticking a worthless goddamn ad on it!

  • @jackrebel601 SHUT UP

  • damn right!

  • @jackrebel601 you fucking retard, by sticking those adds, youtube gets the money to stay up so that freeloaders like you can listen music for free.

  • We miss you Keith!!!

  • This sounds like it's playing a bit fast and with higher pitch. strange...

  • Townsend's voice is amazing.....

  • The harmonies... Omg this is brilliant. :) <3 xx

  • you can tell by the clothes its early to mid 80s lol

  • @MrMarkfoster And???

  • @MrMarkfoster just saying.chill the fuck out

  • this is not social crisis; just another trick day for you

  • The Ox Rules !!!

  • i can imagine keith moon dressed in 1980s clothes

  • @MsFanmail That'd be hilarious. And, drumming wouldn't have done as bad as it did that decade.

  • I love the who. what a great song.

  • Keith Moon is irreplaceable

  • "It's all here on the vinyl!" Yes it is, Daddy. Yes it is.

  • hhhmmm.. good point. But Keith Moon is way better than Neil Peart..... oh, what the hell, they're BOTH fucking awesome! :D XD

  • Kenny was a good drummer but lacked that "out of control" element that Keith and Pete had onstage.

  • You irritate me, my friend.
