some of the material on Pale ("Chile", "She Cried", "High On A Riverbed") dates back to Toad's 1986 and 87 demo tapes, so he was 15 or 16 when some of them were written. it's a shame he dislikes those first two Toad records so much, but I can understand why a forty year old wouldn't want to perform stuff he wrote as a kid
@kisscatastrophe hmmm, that is too bad. I guess that's why I didn't like to see them at one point anymore. "We choose not to live in the past, nor do we close the door on it completely." --NA Big Book
What a phenominal song and album. Thanks for posting the vid and yes, by all means post one for liars & riverbed. I have no video making skills or else I'd do it myself just to add it to my playlist =)
Pale is Toad's best Album. Moody. Somber. And Pure Genius. Glen Phillips was 18 and fresh out of high school when he and the band wrote most of this CD.
i managed/todd and glens work at an interesting time in my life...within their life's, all when i was but just a child...year's later i laugh at myself as i am still swinging from the tree of life'...akin to a child...that is the shape of my heart...
2.20-end: I could listen to this part all day long for all my life

This a powerful song. I've always been a Toad The Wet Sprocket fan, but this song has stood out since I first came across it, about 8 years ago.

To be writing this stuff at 18 is a bit beyond me. How at 18 can a man have so much on his mind?
