Cricket NEVER RUNS AT ADVERTISED SPEEDS! AVOID THE SCAM! Even when they have no reason to throttle you, they throttle reception back to cut the signal, then the signal increases in strength once you're done. They throttle EVERYTHING that requires broadband speeds, even simple youtube videos. CRICKET IS NOT BROADBAND! AT IT'S BEST IT RUNS AT HALF THE SPEED OF 3G, AND AT IT'S WORST IT RUNS SLOWER THAN 56K DIAL-UP. AVOID AND REPORT TO THE FCC FOR FRAUD!

It does not work well indoors for everyday use, you get certain amount of usage each month and once you use that amount the speed drops! The company say the $40.00 price tag is for people just to read email. I will be droping Cricket this month and I had the service since Nov. 2010. Very few people get on the internet just to read emails! But paying $40.00 is way too much.

Just wait until you get CLEAR in San Diego. Even 3G on CLEAR WiMax is 1.5 mbps, the 4G is 7-8 mbps with my ClearSpot and only Half Signal 3 bars.

@myammw12 They have a cap on their service either 2.5 or 5 gig so when you go over that it is cut back to like 100KB a sec.

cricket has got to be the slowest fuckin internet provider i have ever used ive stolen better signals wit the laptop wifi ....the fastest download speed ive gotten is 96kb per sec.....an now that ive downloaded 2gbs of random stuff my download speed is at 1.5 kb per sec takes like 2-3 minutes just to load the youtube page for any1 not looking to get ripped off i suggest paying extra an getting a real internet provider cricket is a total rip off

@XxRazorXWolfxX I know what you mean. Once you reach the 5 GB things slow down. Other times I've been able to watch 2 hour movies on Hulu without any lag time at all. Kind of patchy. I might get the extender cable

@707sk8r It depends on where you are. To get better service you might try getting a USB extender cable and moving the antenna around. I haven't needed to do this personally but I've talked to people who it really helped. The cable is around $2-$5usd at Fry's or other reasonable electronic retailers (not bestbuy).

You get what you pay for and for $40 a month that's really not bad your saving $480 over the 2 year contract you would have to sign with Verizon or one of the other national carriers plus you don't have to pay the monthly bill you decide you don't want it, and honestly how many of us really use our mobile broadband every single day? Thank you for the comments & positive feedback. I completely agree and that's the main point of the video. As a "temporary" wireless solution and for certain situations IE: Occasional Business Traveler, it works great.

Yes. Virgin Wireless has a pre-paid wireless solution. I'll review it in a future video. I would say the two are very comparable in speeds.

Ahh I just saw this video. I see you tried it at a park as well. Whats amazing is how much slower it is in the car compared to just standing outside of the car and testing it with the computer on my trunk. I sure wish I could get those speeds inside my house. If I could just plug the modem thru a long wire so that it sits on my roof. I may give that a try.
