highway man = usually a man in a black cape, with a black mask (like a racoons)

in ye olde days they hung around the roads and robbed passers by. They usually shout "Stand and deliver" or "your money or your life".

completely fiction though, no doubt there really were highwaymen but I doubt they really wore black capes and shouted "stand and deliver!"
