It's true sidechaining, which is just normal multi (audio) input for plugins.

This isn't true stereo sidechaining as far as I can gather from the video. Lol have you built a basic version of the peak controller into the mixer or something?

You can clearly see from the compressor that it's taking the kick as its side-chain input, which IS true side-chaining compression.
