The next numbered kingdom hearts that they said will be made hasn't even commenced with production because the leader of the team is too busy with KH3D and Final Fantasy Versus XIII. In reality, the next numbered Kingdom Hearts won't even get revealed by no sooner than E3 2013 =/

Yen Sid said that Master Xehanort has return and Sora and Riku need to become keyblade masters so they can counter Master Xehanort's threat. And most of the worlds are not save from the darkness so Sora and Riku went to the realm of sleep (or something) so they unlock those from their sleep.

Story
King Mickey and Yen Sid prepare for an impending threat by putting Sora and Riku through the Mark of Mastery exam. Sora and Riku are sent into the Sleeping Worlds, where they will face enemies and allies that have never been seen before. If they can successfully complete the task they are given, they will be deemed true Keyblade Masters. That's the Game storyline!

To all you haters, DDD leads directly into the PS3 game. Kingdom Hearts III. This is the end of the Xehenort saga, thus bringing back Terra, Aqua, and Ventus. There is no Heartless in DDD, only those messed up Dream Eaters, and for the first freaking time, permenant Allies on a portable KH. So shut up, wait a year, and watch the story unfold. Here's to possibly the best Disney game ever made.

@poppinNlockinG Because they have to take the Mark of Mastery Exam because they have to learn how to use the keyblade the right way in order for them to become real keyblade masters. Yen Sid said that Master Xehanort has return and Sora and Riku need to become keyblade masters so they can counter Master Xehanort's threat. And most of the worlds are not save from the darkness so Sora and Riku went to the realm of sleep (or something) so they unlock those from their sleep.
