  • Mmmm, '68 Fastback *drowns in own drool*

  • You had to see this on the big screen then- whoa! Pure riveting action. Kids today have no idea or incination of the times then.

  • It's a miracle they didn't ht any hippies!!

  • 5:18 "I had to lay 'er down."

  • @DAN4279 for me, the classics are wayyyy better man.

I think the charger is faster than the mustang, right guys?

  • @Tobidecai The Mopar 440 and 426 cars pretty much cleaned up on all the others. They were banned by the Chevy guys in some racing events because they couldn't beat them. Look up the history of the Sox and Martin racing team to read about that.

  • @lantzn ok, thanks.

  • 1:56 going up a steep hill smoking rubber, talk about american muscle power !!!

  • What's the name of the song that plays at 5:44?

  • 2 people don't know how to drive.

  • Best chase scene in history....everything else is a copy. Sooooooooo much more freedom in those days

  • ALL AMERICAN at its very best, classic stuff :) greets from germany

  • ICONIC !!!

  • jizzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • FORD POWER!

  • in the 60s you only put your seatbelt on if something awesome was about to happen!!

  • @Django5198 Heck I don't even think seat belts became standard until 67.

  • thumbs up if they should make a remake of this chase

  • Pause this video at 5:45 then go to skynryds "on the hunt" and start it at 4:23. The music fits perfect with this video.

  • Do dogs chase cats?!?!

  • Yes, so there were alot of VW Beetles around that day. Bore me some more will you !Best car chase ever, has atmosphere where others don't and suddenly breaks. Great stuff.

  • If you're gonna rip this kid, rip it from the DVD - not from AMC. LOL.

  • Beautiful sounds from those two cars....beautiful.

  • Damn VW

  • bullitt is faster:):):)

  • Where are the cops???????????

  • @harpo103

McQueen is the cop, haha. The cops got to drive cool stock cars.

  • @lantzn Right about now the Cops are looking for the Zodiac Killer.

  • @harpo103 in the 1960's, cops didnt have the organization they have today. and detectives were virtually out there on their own unless they had back up,. Mcqueens chracter was a true cop who hated corruption within and outside of the system so he pissed off police captains and everyone else so they probably didnt give him any backup.

  • @harpo103 It's Sunday morning. They're still at Dunkin Donuts.

  • Best car chase period. That mustang is my dream car so awesome!!!!

  • @TheJulz91

Yeah they are sweet. Check out the brand new Mustang bodies from Dynacorn. That's the way to build a Mustang. Better steel, no rust.

  • i think that green vw beetle won

  • @landcaster11 It wasn't a beetle, it was a 67 mustang. you could tell by the body shape on the front.

  • @rdsxluvrynkyhatr my god youre naive

  • @landcaster11 that vw beetle is worth way more then your mothers van that you drive

  • @landcaster11 stop making your mums car look so good

  • This is classic. Dodge vs. Mustang.

  • Whew! Possibly the best chase scene ever! I Know McQueen drove the 390 Fastback...but was the other car identical to the "Dukes of Hazzard" 440 Charger?" Anybody know?

  • They're pretty close. The Bullitt Charger is a 1968 while the Duke's General Lee was suppose to be a 1969. I say "suppose" because they took some 68s and swapped the parts to make them look like 69s. Both of these years are awesome looking although the clean non-split grille and round taillights of the 68 is my fav.

  • @HIghBlutdruck

Dukes drove a 69 Charger, this was a 68. The 68s had the round taillights while the 69s were long rectangular. They actually converted a lot of 68s into 69s for the Dukes show. A lot of good Chargers lost their life in that series.

  • @HIghBlutdruck Hey Try going to imcd.com Internet movie car database. It's a really cool site with cars from hundreds of movies. It's awesome!

  • @patriclus303383 Thanks for the link but it's imcd.org

  • Steve McQueen is the best.

Have you guys seen The Great Escape?

  • Awsome movie!! Good old bias ply tires,lol....

  • for car guys this is like a sex scene!

  • @checkfoldcallraise

    serious shit

  • who needs porn when you got legit shit like this

  • the mustang had a 425 and the dodge had a 440 hemi, also if you look closely the charger missed the pumps and came out the other side

  • The mustang was a 390, a pig. Factory rated at 330 hp, it probably was overrated by 100hp. A great ford engine was the 428 cobra jet. The Charger was a 440 wedge engine- not a hemi. In real life that 390 boat anchor wouldn't have got within a mile of a Charger R/T.

  • It would if Steve Mcqueen was driving

  • They never made a 440 hemi.

  • quite right , it was a 426 and the 440 in a way was better at street level is it was more even through the torque curve , the hemi had to be revved faster to get the right amount of optimum power , and no the 390 gt wouldn't have been able to keep up even with a 440, and fords handling wasn't as good either , cheap cartsprings at the back = oh dear !

  • NO this Mustang was 390 Gt but Charger was really 440 magnum

  • ford never had a 425 and the 440 mopar wasnt a hemi engine. just thought you needed to know

  • I saw a documentary of the chase scene. They souped up the mustang, but the bone stock Charger left it like it was dragging an anchor. Unfair advantage: a 440 magnum vs. a 390 boat anchor. Also making things more difficult was McQueen's insistence on driving himself- he wasn't in the same league as the stunt driver in the Dodge.

  • Yeah I never understood why mcqueen wanted to drive it himself...theres nothing wrong with letting a stunt driver (who drives for a living) do the driving.

  • If you look into the history of McQueen you'll see he was VERY heavy into racing himself and driving the cars. There's no way he'd let a stunt driver do it.

Although if I were him I'd have chosen the Charger and put the bad guys in the Ford.

  • did any one see a red R/T badge in the one scene, was fuzzy, wish there was a HD version

    the stang i thought was a 390 4speed

    shifting was very weird,

CHARGER if it was a R/T probably 440-4 auto

    4.10 83/4 rear.

I HOPE THEY DONT MAKE ANOTHER ONE ,DAMN MOVIES DESTROYING CLASSICS

CANT FIND THINGS AS IT IS ,LET ALONE DAMN MOVIE COMPANY DESTROYING THE MUSCLE CAR ERA.

  • The Charger was obviously a 4 speed car. OTW, those cars were late models at the time, not classics.

  • Although the story of this movie was not

    strong enough, but everyone remember

the Ford- Mustage(1968), Steve McQueen and it's music background. Overall, this is a really great classic movie of 60'

I had visited to several locations of the movie 6 times in three years. I really

enjoy the atmosphere of this movie

    with excellence music background.

  • are they really gonna make a remake?

  • Man those guys in the charger didn't know what hit 'em.

  • best chase sver but they messed up, i know it just a movie but how they get from ft mason to mansell that fast?Remember how mansell on th oter side of th city? IN john Mclaren park btw vis valley and the excelsior

  • It must have been the cubic inches. ;)

    I love my Mopar.

  • steves stang must of had a 9 speed road ranger trans in it ,lol

  • The 68 Charger is one of the best looking

cars made in the U.S (my opinion of course) The new Mustang looks like the old one cause why?? They looked so good then..groovy scene...good thing no hippies got hit in the chase..haha!!

  • So, how may times do they pass that same green Volkswagen, and beige Pontiac LeMans? And what about these skid marks that were already there? Rehersal takes? Hmmmmm.

  • hahaha,you're right dude!.

  • You Cut some of the footage out of this lantzn

I recomend looking at the other youtube members unfeather footage. :(

  • They make a remake of this movie with the current Charger ( the best looking car ever built) and the current Mustang ( the best looking Mustang ever built).

  • i want a 68' charger rt badly, the new one is embarassing next to the old one, engine noise too,we really have gone backwards.the new charger has a awd option, why?they should not even call it a charger.

  • Yeah the new Charger should have been called a Coronet. The Coronet was a B-Body and came in both a 2-door and 4-door. A few of the 4-doors had the big blocks. I still can't figure out why they haven't bothered to make a 2-door Charger. Even if it looked like the current Charger it would sell well.

  • Cant wait for the movie remake

  • the world's best engine noise and look how much time we have had to improve it, we have just gone backwards

  • Ford has announced that you can get a new mustang tricked out like the bullitt ride

  • veeeery crazy!!

    what film is this??

  • Bullitt

  • i want that car ;-)

  • yo that so cool yo yo yo
