@wombosi Hi wombosi, 'scuze my tardy reply: the house was purchased by a large corporation and slated for demolition. Better to save the porch (reinstalled as you see at the end of this vid on another old house)....than have it disappear forever..... thx for watching :)
The wood work and details of these old houses are always so beautiful!! Glad to hear there are people out there working to protect these old masterpieces! Good to see that old beauty of a porch found a new home! :-)
Wow, that porch piece was something else!!! That house had such amazing character. What a beautiful neighborhood that you showed. And there is that lovely porch...wow. Just beautiful. I want to live right there!! All of the homes have such incredible energy.
Mic, you sure were wow'd at that porch! (And rightfully so) Come on and move here, gal! We could talk about the energy here. There are 3 rivers that join here in Dayton, where Edgar Cayce received his calling, one could say. The book about him called 'There is a River' speaks of it.
Yes, Cindy...a front porch can feel sooo good and the dedication that some companies have to reuse of these elements is admired :) Thx for stopping by.
I am glad to see the gingerbread trim being recycled, it looks great! Was that your old residence? It was gorgeous!! =] I'm so glad you're sharing these with us! 5/5
Thx, Anthony, if you had seen the 'before' photo I just received from Full Circle Development you'd be amazed; it is a great testament to the work done there; I'll share that in the last vid of the series :)
Nice vid Liz!!! Good to see part of the house live on. Do you happen to know what kind of tree that is on the left at 5:15. The one with the purple blooms? I've noticed a lot of trees around here which look similiar this spring which I hadn't noticed before. I Googled it and it *seems* to be called a Redbud tree (even though it's purple) I think it usually must have it's blooms killed off by frost, but not this year, which is why I've noticed it.
Thx for watching, Blinkzzz; you said it: redbud it is. They are abundant in Ohio, graceful and beautiful in spring with the dogwoods; I'm guessing you are in an area that is borderline to their best growing area...they are sold in the nurseries here :)
Hi AD! Glad you liked the vid; I just received more information about other elements of the house that will be reused and it does make the bitter taste a lil sweeter :)
Wonderful to see the reused gingerbread woodwork and knowing it was a fantastic fit to where they placed it.I do hope all the rest is going to good use and they are not just trashing it .This is a great message to share with others all over lets hope that videos like this are put to good use .
It is wonderful... that so many people in Dayton have gone to such lengths to remove and reuse most of the house's architectural elements. The woodwork will be installed in a special cottage in South Park Historical District which I hope to show later. And yes, I've asked myself how to better use this series which is close to my heart :)
The more detail you show of this house, the more my heart aches to think it's demolished! It's nice to know parts of it were saved, the gingerbread is gorgeous. but that fireplace!!! That wood trim!!!
I hope I'll be able to show footage of the newly reused woodwork, as well...the saving grace: investors and dedicated workers in the business of renovating old houses :)
Your heartaches are not alone, dear Min. Stay tuned :)
haa, yes, and did you see the linked vid from 'Restore Springfield' in Springfield MS...they deconstruct 'whole' houses for reuse..all the parts, 2 x 4's to insulation to toilettes :D
might i ask: what in hell was the point of demolishing that perfectly sound and beautiful porch?
