  • Would this guitar be good for a heavy metal tone such as metallica, megadeth, pantera...etc. with its stock pickups?

  • @bigbirdoncrack12 It could handle it. They are not super high output pickups but they crunch nicely!

  • @NstuffMusic ok, thanks for the response

    Customer Reviews:

I got this about a week ago. I love the color and finish. Every bit as good as any American Strat I've played. The neck has a gloss finish on it. It doesn't give me any problems, but I can understand why some would want a satin finish on the neck. The frets are clean, smooth, and seem to be level (I haven't noticed buzzing anywhere). ...

  • im buying one

  • I just can decide on the color. Hahaha. I spent a long time deciding on a new Axe. found it and can't come to a conclusion on what fucking color I want. Damn indecisivness....

  • would this be good for ska???

  • @ESPMETALLICAFAN17 The thing I like about the Black Top series is that they are so versatile and affordable and you can play any music style. $479.99 at nstuffmusic with coupon code FENDER35

  • is that a fender deville? :D

  • @GuitarRockAllDay Yes it's the 212 version.

  • Sold. Thanks for the demo.

  • awesome guitar

  • can i use the jim root pickup at this guitar..

sorry i dont know about guitar

  • @ruplaw77 sure just buy an EMG 81 and an EMG 60 and theres the jim root set up

  • BUT I DON'T WANNA BE A PIRATE!!

  • Fender has MORE quality besides that you.. And also. That sounded like a Fuzz instead of an Overdrive.

  • Is the neck nice and chunky on this thing... or one of those "modern C" things?

  • @Maafa1619 It's not a chunky neck it's more of a C shape.

  • @NstuffMusic So, that's $450ish for the guitar and yet another $300 for an AllParts Fat neck. Fender is killing me.

  • I'm putting a dimebucker and sh-2 jazz in my blacktop. I play drop b modern metal. any thoughts?

  • Maybe a Duncan custom custom in the bridge and a JB in the neck...that would make the guitar chunk a little more but still give you a little smoothness in the neck if you wanted it.

  • I just got the exact same guitar, except with a rosewood fretboard.

I got home and noticed it out on my doorstep. So I brought it inside. It seems fine and all but I'm worried that it might be damaged because it was cold outside. Is there any chance the wood or anything might start changing because of the change from cold to warm heat?

  • @WhereBeWaldoAt You always want to let a guitar slowly warm up to room temperature in its case or gig bag before exposing it to a warmer temperature. The neck and the finish can both be affected. Feel the body first before pulling the guitar out, if the body is cold to the touch just leave it in the case for a while.

  • @NstuffMusic

    Thanks for the reply.

I think it's fine, I've had it for about 12 hours now and nothing has been affected or damaged so far.

  • @WhereBeWaldoAt You should be good..the finish would happen immediately...the neck you should watch for warping over the next few days.....even if it does though it should be able to be adjusted.

  • @NaffMusic thanks in advance!

  • @NaffMusic I have one for almost half a year now and am looking for a pickup upgrade, it's a great guitar for jazz, but I want more of an edge. I play through various amps and still, overall, not really satisfied with how it sounds. I want to make it sound a bit colder on the highs and harsher on the lows. What would your advice be?

  • do you get a hardcase with it

  • Rosewood or Maple for Indie rock?

  • @baja19971 Both have good capabilities for that style of music, but I would lean to the maple a little more for the bit more of brightness.

  • Is it good for hard rock or metal ?

  • @MidnightStrum It's Great. $454.99 at nstuffmusic with coupon code.

  • @NstuffMusic Which fingerboard is better to play hard rock ? rosewood or maple ?

  • @MidnightStrum I would go with Rosewood but both would work fine.

  • @NstuffMusic Thank you very much :)

  • mark! hoy do i can recuperate the pickups..? look that i buy this guitar and the pickups have turn to a shade metal??? :S Im worried.

  • @00juanca00 Unfortunately there is nothing you can do all pickup cover seem to do that.

  • hey mark! Is this an american or a mexican fender??

  • I have this guitar (but black) it is honestly a great guitar with perfect action and tone variation. Fretboard feels great and bends easy like he said. Sounds great clean and on overdrive with the humbuckers, I would recommend it to anyone! ;)

  • Can this guitar handle funk? I want to hear it funkeeyh

  • @orfmor It can handle funk just like a Brick House! Not as quacky as a traditional tele but it still has a great top top end.

  • @NstuffMusic Mhm i see. And can you somehow theoretically tell me the difference between maple and rosewood fretboard? It seems that the maple is bit quackier than the rosewood and the rw has more bite and bass. Which wood is better for funk, ska, punk, hardcore and that kind of stuff?

  • @orfmor Maple is brighter and Rosewood is warmer. I would say Maple for funk, ska, and punk. $454.99 at nstuffmusic.

  • Comment removed

  • @NstuffMusic Is there a real big difference in the two? (maple or rosewood)

  • @orfmor I would pick maple if I were buying a guitar for funk.

  • me gustan tu pruebas , son de las mejores que se pueden ver

  • Mark is an awesome guitarist. Really sells it well. I've watched all these videos and now I just can't decide which blacktop I want! It's gonna be down to cosmetic preference, as they all as sound amazing as the next!

  • Is this guitar is cheap or not ?

    please reply

  • @luis50357 It sales for $454.99 at nstuffmusic great guitar for the money.

  • what amp and pedal you are using?

  • @RockDanielRoll The Fender Hot Rod Deville 212 combo amp. No pedals.

  • would this guitar sound good playing punk pop? (like green day, blink 182, the offspring, and simple plan, among others...)

  • @SANDU3108 Yes...it would be great for all this.

  • This test makes this more convinced to buy this guitar

    good sound and phrasing!

  • I was looking for a guitar in the Fender Blacktop series and I'm eyeballing the currently Blacktop Tele. Is it possible to swap the stock humbuckers for Gibson or any other type of humbuckers, or are they not the same sizes?

  • @TechnologicalGuru Sure is possible. It is the standard size.

  • Comment removed

  • has it much sustain?

  • @MrJamessmithmusic Yes it does!

  • @NstuffMusic compared to lets say, a les paul?

  • @MrJamessmithmusic Hmmmmm....tough comparison. They are way different in the respect of the LP is a set neck design and a bolt on not a bolt on neck like the tele. A set neck will always have more gusto and sustain. But the tele does a great job!

  • Would this blacktop tele be good for playing Nirvana stuff or would the Jaguar be better?

  • @dubbly1 Well the Jaguar has the look for sure. But they both would be able to handle the tonality you would need.

  • I want to ask what would be a good Fender guitar that would have a mild country sound and make it sound like the band Blur (if you've heard of them)? I really need help! Thanks :)

  • @ModernLifeIsTrashy In that case probably more of a Strat over a Tele....But the Blacktops in general would fit that bill

  • @ModernLifeIsTrashy I reckon telecaster is the best since Graham Coxon (guitarist of Blur) only uses telecasters.

  • I have this EXACT guitar haha, very smooth neck pickup and classic tele sounding bridge pickup. My first electric guitar!

  • Is this good for heavy metal?

  • @CommanderPANDAmonium Yes it would be good the humbucking pickups are pretty hot.

  • @NstuffMusic How would you rate it it 10 out of 10?

  • @CommanderPANDAmonium telecasters are known for either chicken picking, or the best of heavy metal. quite the extreme, the telecaster

  • hi, whats the difference between , the humbuckers you got on a telecaster blacktop and 72 deluxe ?

  • @iConverseMyLife The Blacktop pickup's are more modern they are hotter and brighter.

  • I just opened one up to verify the wiring. The pick up are only a two wire design so coil tapping is not possible. You could always change the picks out for something that is tappable.

  • Is it possible to install a coil tap on this? Any info would be appreciated.

  • nice playing dude :D

  • Do you deliver to Mexico?

  • @urigilmour We do

  • Can you tell me, im looking for a versitile guitar... Is this a good guitar, for more heavy settings? I love the way this guitar plays... so smooth its angels singing.

  • @mckreggen We have a hard time keeping these in stock. Fender has a keeper with these babies!

  • Hey, I am planning on buying a Tele and I think this may be love at first sight. Do you ship this to Istanbul, Turkey? How much would it cost, everything included?

    Thanks in advance :)

  • @SpaceMonkey1983 We would need your shipping info in order to give you accurate pricing.

  • Which would you say is better all-round? Blacktop Jaguar VS Blacktop Tele.

  • Do you deliver to Canada?

  • @LoonyLooners Yes but the shipping is not free.

  • @NstuffMusic Thanks, what would be the cost to send it to Toronto?

  • @LoonyLooners Shipping would be about $60.00

  • @LoonyLooners Just Buy one at Steve's music Store they have a bunch!

  • @LoonyLooners go to long and mcquade

  • I just bought this guitar.

  • what would be better a strat or a tele for a funky style? help

  • @iAMaChiLLingDUDE If your talking Blacktop I would go with the strat it can do split coil sound.

  • Which would you recommend i buy if i play alot of blues form a blacktop telecaster or the blacktop jaguar ??

  • @adooradoor4you I would go with the Blacktop Tele.

  • What kind of music is optimal for the blacktop guitars?

  • @SvenneSvennePelle The cool thing about the Blacktop series is they are very versatile and can play most styles of music. $419.99 at nstuff music with coupon code.

  • Is this good for Rock music? (no metal)

  • @JoaoRouxinolSongs Yes it would be great $419.99 at nstuffmusic with coupon code.

  • @NstuffMusic You send guitars to Portugal too? (:

  • @JoaoRouxinolSongs Yes but the shipping would not be free.

  • @NstuffMusic Yes, I know that.

How much would be the shipping?

  • @JoaoRouxinolSongs The shipping cost would be $375.00. Any questions let me know.

  • @NstuffMusic Ok, I might be sending that guitar along with a boss pedal, do you have the BOSS ME-70 available? thanks!

  • @JoaoRouxinolSongs Yes, $289.99.

  • @NstuffMusic Ok, I will order them soon!

  • alright guys help me out please

    trying to decide between

    Fender Blacktop Telecaster HH

    or

    Fender Standard Telecaster,

im going for an indie/alt sound

    halp plox?

  • @BadHelixProductions I would go with the Fender Blacktop Tele HH.

  • @soultosqueeze68 dude go with a 500 blacktop jazzmaster! My band plays grunge also and i'm getting one. just change the neck pickup if ya want to a humbucker. Its a great deal man. But def. a jazzmaster bt or a strat.

  • @soultosqueeze68 You cant go wrong with a Blacktop Fender their great guitars.

  • Is it soft for bends...say using .09 gauge?? I'm between this and a Schecter omen 6 extreme but the Omen has 14 radius, and this 9.5? right?? does it blends alright anyway??

  • We do have a full-time, highly skilled, luthier who has many years of experience under his belt. Not only does he handle all of the repair/restoration work here, but he also builds the MC Custom guitars you may have seen being demonstrated here on Youtube. The approximate cost to install 2 pickups in a solidbody guitar would be around $50 plus parts.

  • I would like to purchase this guitar and replace the humbuckers with SD P-90 Phat Cats. Does NStuffMusic have a licensed technician to do so ? If so then how much would the shop cost for that specific service ?

  • the blacktop in maple fretboard have thin finish like the deluxe?? is because i'm interested on buying a blacktop, what i should choose?

  • @00juanca00 Yes the finish is similar. The Deluxe has more of a vintage vibe the Blacktop pickups are a little more aggressive.

  • @NstuffMusic thanks!""" :D

  • Is the Blacktop good for country/folk-rock?

  • Love this guy's playin' !!

  • Which guitar is better???? this fender blacktop telecaster or a LTD EC 256 AVG, I play classic rock, hardrock- GLAm, and im undecided yet which one to buy

the 2 guitars sound and are aesthetically awsome

  • @Remoraisdead Sorry to make this more difficult but the are similar in quality. I would go with whatever one you like the look of better. The only other thing is the Fender would be easier to resale if you ever wanted to sale it.

  • Bruce Wilis playin guitar !!!!!!

  • which is better, black top telecaster or black top telecaster? (for playing rock/grunge/classic rock?) :)

  • @njcrox The Blacktop Tele would be great for rock, grunge and classic rock. $419.99 at nstuffmusic

  • @njcrox It would be great $419.99 at nstuffmusic,

  • Very good price.

  • Hello, I'm about to get a new guitar I'm really into the Muse sound style. I'm a bit confusing between the blacktop telecaster and blacktop jaguar, they have the same pickups and switch positions. I really love the shape of the jaguar but it has a smaller scale my hands aren't so big so I don't know if it would be a problem. But I'm wondering if the smaller scale will change the sound or it will sounds like the telecaster. Which one you would choose for Muse musics?

    :)

  • @k0ldan The Jaguar will sound a little fuller because of the body size. The smaller scale is better for someone with short hands the frets are closer together. $419.99 at nstuffmusic with coupon code.

  • @NstuffMusic Hello, I'm a newbie with guitars and sorry to ask but what you mean with fuller sound ? :)

  • @k0ldan That means it has a wider frequency range because the Jaguar has more bass.

  • @NstuffMusic would this be good for punk?

  • @k0ldan

    Oh, God!

Muse is pure trash, my friend!

  • would you recommend this guitar for a blink-182 Pop-Punk kinda sound?

  • @WhatSheWanted It would be great for that style.

  • Is This Guitar Good On A Range From The Beatles , Led Zeppelin And Nirvana, cuz im thinking on gettin this guitar. please someone answer back

    :)

  • @IronMetalGunsnACDC The Blacktop Tele would be great for those tones.

  • Hey, I own a Fender Stratocaster and a Gibson ES-355. I recently decided to get another guitar and I'm looking for something a bit more aggressive. After a lot of searching I decided I should get a Telecaster... What I would like to know is:

What are the pros/cons of the Blacktop Telecaster in comparison with the standard one? And also, I want something completely new and I don't want it to sound just like my Strat. In general, is the difference between Teles and Strats that notable?

  • @Norkross The Blacktop Tele is not your typical Tele it has high output humbuckers they are alot more aggressive than the typical single coil pickups. The Blacktop will be alot more aggressive and fuller than your Strat.

  • do you recommend this for metal??

  • Would like to buy this guitar, but it seems left handed versions are not available.

Good review Mark, and excellent playing.

  • This guitar sounds great....which begs the question: "Why's it so cheap?"

  • would this amp be good for playing music like RATM etc.

  • Great Demo. I bought an identical one at your store a few days ago. I love it. It nails that Classic Stones vibe.

  • i like your reviews on guitars, very detailed info on the description, a wide demo on the pick-ups. please reply to me if you have time to explain how to get that overdrive tune. is it from the amp (if so please tell me what kind of amp it is) or is it a seperate pedal triggered effect (please tell me that one too if it is) i am considering buying a Blk Tp Jazzmstr or Jaguar or a Mustang (my hands are small though, i need to check the guitars in person) thank you for the nice review! ^^

  • @meero14 It is from the amp it's a Fender Hot Rod Deville 212.

  • 1. Can this do good classic rock sounds and tele tones even though its got the humbuckers? And 2. is it good for leads?

  • @endlessillusion34 It's a very versatile guitar it would be able to handle the job!

  • would you recommend the blacktop or the 72 deluxe?

  • @bingin15 Blacktop if your playing more aggressive style the 72 if your more into vintage tones.

  • @bingin15

Neither, the 72 custom. Versatile as all get out.

  • @bingin15 Good question

  • OMG THANKS FOR THIS

    I'm sooo buying it!

    Greetings from Germany :D!

  • Which other Fender guitars models would you recomend me for playing music styles such as rock, hard rock, jazz, blues and punk?

  • @grengoism You might want to look into either the Blacktop model seen in this video or the Standard (Mexican-made, that is) model if you're looking for a low price without low quality. If you have more money, the American Deluxe model would be ideal and they feature S-1 switching which gives you more tonal options. Of course, you really can't go wrong with a Fender...you should still always try any guitar before you buy it though and give it a look over. You never know if one's been damaged!

  • Do you think this guitar is the best of the blacktop series for playing both jazz and rock?

  • @panchoojam Yes, it would work well for both styles of music.

  • I can honestly say that I see the point of the blacktop series, I have 2 fenders myself. One thing I cant say is that I understand what Gibson has done with the whole new 'firebird x' and other projects done recently.

  • Is this guitar good for playing the versatility of punk to soul?

  • @notacaulkhead Yeah it would work well for both styles of music.

  • Pretty much set on getting this guitar, but my band plays a mixture of heavier stuff mixed with lots of ambient/ delay/ reverb parts as well. I know this is perfect for the ambient parts, but could I replace one of the pick ups with an emg to have a mixture of that tele tone and the high gain emg tone?

  • @GiantBlackWomen I wouldn't suggest mixing a active pickup with a passive pickup. I would put a hotter passive pickup in the bridge or replace both pickups with EMG 81 and a 85.

  • @NstuffMusic I dont think I want to put two emg's on it, I think it would ruin the tele tone that I want. What kind of passive pick up would you recommend for more gain?

  • @GiantBlackWomen You might want to check out the Dimarzio D Activator Bridge pickup and keep the stock neck pickup that would be cool.

  • That guitar is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! Is it wrong that I want to make sweet sweet love to it?

  • Hi! Nice review and really nice playing

    I have a question...

I wanna buy that guitar, I like it very much but... do you think it works for pro stuff or, just for beginners ?

  • @LuteroReforma It's not a beginner guitar. I would say intermediate to pro level.

  • he looks abit like SRV without the hat and well erm alive

  • Do you know if you can swap a standard Tele bridge right in to replace that bridge 'bucker with a normal Tele pup?

  • @TEHBR00TZ I'm sure you can how much work it will be I'm not sure.

  • @TEHBR00TZ Yes you can. You just need a bridge thats designed to hold a tele bridge pickup.

  • Mark, I had not heard you before seeing these guitar promo videos. I just wanted to stop by and say you are a super player....nice stuff!!

  • Hi

    nice review !

Are these Fender Humbuckers good for harder Rock like Rammstein?
