Hey guys, great video. I have a quick question about Reaper. A lot of times when i record quieter instruments like acoustic guitar or violin, i get a low level, even though the gain knob is set fairly high (fast track ultra 8r) and the mic is pretty close too. Its not a huge problem, but is there any way to raise it without distorting it or using compression too much?
i've had a question for a while on what you double and what you don't.......how many you things you double or quad......and what you pan and how much you pan them...guitars, bass, and vocals.... i think some of the best guitar tones recorded is for the fallen dreams - changes cd and remembering nevers - god save us cd...also as far as vocals go i really like how whitechapels are on their last cd....how it's like doubled with lows and highs at the same time
Playlist clutter gets really annoying for me...I guess you could sift through other takes to find your favorite, but personally my last takes are the ones I keep.
It's the e609 and I personally don't really like the sound of that mic much for recording metal which is why we didn't include it in our recommendations. It's slightly muddy and the mid range is strange sounding.
It's gone now for some reason... but there was a button next to the Quality button that said "CC." It was a beta test for captions. I guess it just shows what it hears.
5:57 (after the "um") there is the dread auto-focus "pump" visual distortion. I think this is the first time I've noticed this in one of these vids. I only mention it because you guys are making such genuine attempts to really beef up your production standards. Thought you'd want to know, 'cause the series is really looking great these days.
Thanks. Yeah, the camera we use right now is a pretty inexpensive camera so the auto focus is pretty terrible. Most of the time its not very noticeable but in that spot it is.
A camera will be child's play for you guys, considering you're both super tech minded. Just choose manual focus, zoom in, and focus on the thing farthest away from the camera (monitor speakers, whatever), then you zoom out and frame your shot. Ta-da! Perfect focus. The show is really looking great guys, seriously.
That was pretty awesome. Nice intro haha. Thanks for talking about clearing up the regions, I had completely forgotten about that. I do mostly post work and I hate having a cluttered regions list.
I think it is absolutely brilliant what you did for the intro! Very convenient to be able to skip to a relevant topic.

This helped me a lot. I make computer games as a hobby and sound effects are important to that.

Good video guys!
I like the idea of deleting unused files, but I would like to know how I could do this, i have a PC with Cubase SX3

I'm not sure how you clear unused regions in Cubase, sorry.

Greatest tutorial in a long time. Probably best one so far. What kind of video software did you use to create the cool looking intro?
fridrikur 2 years ago
The intro was created using Adobe After Effects.

I'm confused, I don't see any captions.
How could captions even be added because I didn't add them?
