  • My iPhone 4S does not have any problem whatsoever with the antenna. I can squeeze it tightly on that bar on the antenna and my signal stays the same.

  • yes mine does that when i have a case on it

  • Mine does the same thing. But I still love my iPhone tho

  • since when do you make a call with the death grip

  • Comment removed

  • @Fireball821 Watch it.

  • But who does that? Who really holds a phone that way? Realisticly everyphone has this, I promise. Point blank if you block the signal, you loose bars, that's it and that's all. :)

  • What if I hold the phone with my right hand as always? =D

  • Maybe you shouldn't squeeze it?

  • @MirandaMcg Its not about squeezing it. It's just covering the bars.

  • Welp, this definitely saved me money.

  • That's because it's not CDMA. All CDMA iPhones have no Loss of signal when the death grip is applied.

  • my iphone 4 black does it

  • That is because the signal in the us and uk

    is shit!!

In switzerland we have no problems with the iphone 4 antenna because here the service of the signal is everywere fantastic!!!!

  • I've tried the dg on my iPhone 4 white and it has had no problem at all just saying. Although I wanna know is the any mod or jailbreak app that give my phone 4g network?

  • hahahaha

     ...

almost every comment here answers EXAPHEX question :)

  • how many mb for internet would you suggest? since vodafone has set plans?

  • @vasie93 500MB is plenty, I use 3G alot and use less than 100MB ;)

  • It's not really a problem with JUST the iPhone 4. My iPhone 3GS does the same thing when you squeeze it the right spot. I'm pretty sure every phone does. How many people do you know squeezes their phone on a regular basis like that, though?

  • Who the Frick is gonna start squeezing their iPhone? I hold my phone with like three fingers

  • im gonna get my iphone 4 white tonight i will test it myself because having such a low signal isnt really normal

  • no 3G? in edge? I got white iphone4 no matter how i hold the signal bar wont go down~

  • The black bar on the top is a new Proximity sensor.

  • ur using a american product in the uk wat do u expect

  • @MrTopKicks The fact is that Apple couldn't delay the launch because the design parameters were set in place and for them to have 'fixed' the issue would've taken a lot of time and cost them millions. They would've had to completely redesign the iPhone. And case companies were already capitalizing big time ever since the iPhone was first launched in 2007. So at the end of the day you're talking hundreds of millions of dollars in business for them all. I'd set something up anyday for that money.

  • @AngelicAcid453 How do you know?

  • Has anyone ever thought that Apple may have set up this whole antenna issue to begin with? So they and case companies alike can generate more business by people having to buy bumpers and cases to 'fix' the issue. Apple knew about this all along and were prepared for the backlash. That's why they had the free case program for a period of time after the iP4's release. Anyone who bought an iP4 at the start had already paid for the 'free' case.

  • @MetaTechnology1 I highly doubt it.

  • @MetaTechnology1 im srry but i have to disagree, yes they knew about the problem but i dought it was to generate more profit for them and case companies. The simple fact is they could have jus delayed th lunch of the phone till the problem was fixed but the simple fact is every one is a fan off apple products and apple knows this. so no1 complained about the problem for that simple fac that ppl love apple stuff and even thow it might be faulty only 3% off the ppl who bought one will complaine

  • @MetaTechnology1 lol and plz dont turn this into and arugument im jus stating my opnion like you did

  • what a horrible phone.... yuck! a phone which cannot be used as a phone due to signal issues.

  • @EXAPHEX Its Thee Sensor To Turn Screen Off When On Phone .

  • i think they did tht because he was annoying so they gtave him a messed up one

  • @Chubnut123 the first 3 iPhones I owned didnt fail no matter how I held them. Stupid fuck go get a droid or something

  • my friend who owns blackberrys keep taking the piss out of iphone 4 cost of the signal problem, but i mean i dont hold my iphone 4 like that and nor does anyone i know doesnt matter what phone they have

  • BTW! I bought the white one and it only stays at 3 to 2 bars. I made a reservation at the Apple Genius Bar and the phone turned out to be defective. It's not your area, the phone simply has a defective antenna. Return it while you still can!

  • @clubnut123

untrue. I've used an iphone4 for business and it isn't reliable. I've used nokia and other makes and yes the signal can vary abit holding it but it is no where near close to being the problem it is with apple iphone 4

  • @EhBritay

"majority of the right-minded human race aren't itching hold it like that"

One point you are missing is that many right handed people will hold the iphone in their left hand and use their right hand to type and use it. This is different to most traditional mobile phones where you always tend to use then and hold them i the same hand.

The fact is, they could have corrected the problem but were too arrogant to do so.

I use apple products in a design studio but we don't have any iphones

  • Hold any phone in that fucking retarded way, the bars will bloody drop.... what a fucking douche.

  • that's why android is better.

  • That black bar is the proximity sensor and the ambient light sensor. The proximity sensor senses your head when you hold your phone up to your ear. The ambient light sensor, well, people already explained below.

  • Happens with my Samsung Vibrant (Galaxy S in the UK) too. And my friend's iPhone 3G. It's not a new thing, and it's not specific to the iPhone 4. Stop bitching, people.

  • My videos never get a thumbs up!

  • First time I've ever seen this but I did this same grip and I couldn't get the signal to drop. I don't tend to naturally hold the phone in the "death-grip" fashion but did just to see if I could get it to happen.

I don't know whether being on O2 made a difference.

  • The white bar is the proximity sensor. Part of the problem for the delay in white iphone 4.

  • the sensors

  • The sensor can be easily fixed if you add a ZAG cover shield to your phone. When doing this it properly grounds your phone so when you touch it no static electricity interferes with the signal.

  • Is this person dumb or what? Didn't Steven Jobs explained it... It's call antenagate it happens to all smart phones.... And yes even android phones .... Duhhhhhhh

  • Nice expensive apple phone.... thats why i have a galaxy s and i am so happy :)

  • As always, this issue is non important. I have never saw one person who actually holds their phone like that, and if you do, buy an fing case which you should have done anyway

  • @twinsofdestiny ok the service might be good but no one( not even myself) grips ANY phone like that but if u do that to ANY smartphone it'll loose it's signal to the iPhones might b slightly faster at it due to the fact the antenna is more external then internal my theory is if the phone fits u use it:-/

  • the voice mutates. not interested until resolved

  • well I bought the Iphone 4 about 3 months ago and the signal was horrible, it felt bad in my hand and i hated how you needed a case or bumper to acually get 3 bars so i traded my sister for her 16 gig white 3gs and its so much better in my books no signal problem you dont need a case and its only 2-4 seconds slower than the iphone 4 unlike the iphone 3g or iphone that are 20-36 seconds slower than the iphone 4 and if you update the 3gs to the 4.0 its the same as the 4 and i dont care about retna

  • omfg you apple fan boys that is a problem that just cant be ignored! Its a big turn off for many potential customers like me..

  • antenna problem still here no matter the colour and yes: the more hand you put on it, the less bars you get! a ridiculous, problem - shame on apple - but i must live with it when i go from 4 bars to 3... still, i can make phone calls and connection never drops while talking. love my iphone!

  • The way you squeeze.... are u trying to bend the antenna? lol~

  • 1.who holds there phone that hard

2.if you gripped the antenna of any phone like that the signal is bound to fall

3.who or what is a vidophone?

  • @Cuffy6 if ur talking about vodafone its a great UK network and u dont have to grip it hard, the signal still drops, the old iphones dont do that

  • It's not new hardware just different color that's all. And how the freak holds their phone like that? I don't. This video was pointless.

  • this is why i sold my iphone 4 and got the evo 4g. if i were everybody i would wait for the iphone 5.

  • Did you buy one?

  • You people expecting a the white iphone 4 to be a new device, its not its just a new colour they will fix it with the iphone 5.

  • WiFi signal is also bouncing around

  • Ya but no one holds their phone like that, you squeeze that thing to death.

  • whats the black bar at the top on the front for?

  • @EXAPHEX proximity sensor, senses movement and when u rotate the phone, also on black iphone but blends in

  • @groshong1 Wrong. The proximity sensor detects proximity. As in if you hold it up to your ear for a call the phone screen will become non responsive. The gyroscope detects rotation.

  • @EXAPHEX it's for the proximity and ambient light sensors

  • @EXAPHEX sensor

  • @EXAPHEX

Proximity sensor for calls so you dont hit the screen with your face on a call.

  • @EXAPHEX proximity sensor

  • @EXAPHEX It's an Ambient Light Sensor. It detects when the phone is at you cheek or not, and if it is, then it locks the screen, so no unwanted buttons are pushed.

  • @EXAPHEX It is for the light sensors to turn the screen on and off when a phone call is made and it is put against your face so you don't accidentally cut the call.

  • @EXAPHEX its for when you are on a phone call it goes to sleep. One the black iphone you cant see it.

  • @EXAPHEX so when you talk on the phone the screen turns off next to your face. you cant see it on the black iphone since its black.

  • @EXAPHEX proximity sensor.

  • @EXAPHEX its a proximity sensor

  • @EXAPHEX When you hold your phone to your ear during a phone call that's the indicator to know whether its next to your ear or not, if it thinks it is then it turns off the iPhone display during a phone call, you cant see it in the black iPhone without having strong light focused on the area.

  • @EXAPHEX it is a proximity sensor dude:)

  • @EXAPHEX that is a re designed proximity sensor. instead of the silver stiff like in the ear piece. idk why but apple re did that and the camera. i think the camera was for a flash problem. hope this helped.

  • @EXAPHEX proximity sensor

  • @EXAPHEX That's the proximity sensor. Its also on the black iPhone 4 but it's difficult to see. I swear the white iPhone 4 looks like a white chocolate bar.

  • @EXAPHEX this is a sensor who lock the screen when you are calling , in the black version there is in the receiver ,

  • @EXAPHEX it is the ambient sensor i believe. it is on the black one as well, but it isnt visible.

  • @EXAPHEX proximity sensor! you don't even know that the iPhone has it? look at it at the light o if you have the black at the same spot you should see a bar aswell

  • @EXAPHEX That's the proximity sensor.

  • @EXAPHEX ambient light sensor :D

  • @EXAPHEX Its the light sensor, it dims and adjusts the screen light when your on the phone or in a dark room.

  • @EXAPHEX its a sensor for autobrightness and other things like that. for example if you have autobrightness on, if you play in the dark, the brightness lowers. that's what the sensor does i think. not positive

  • @EXAPHEX that's the proximity sensor. You cover it up with your head while you're on the phone so you don't acidentally hit anything on the screen.

  • @EXAPHEX Thats the sensor bar. Its on the Black one, you just can't see it.

  • @EXAPHEX are you talking about the one above the speaker? If so thats the sensor that when you on the phone it turns the screen black so you wont hang up on some one while its touching your ear. the same thing is on the black iPhones its just not visible for obvious reasons.

  • @EXAPHEX its the proximity sensor

  • @EXAPHEX that's how Apple keeps an eye on you - while you're in the bathroom :O

  • @EXAPHEX It is the light sensor

  • @EXAPHEX Proximity Sensor and Light Sensor .

  • @EXAPHEX the bar move the phone bit is a proximity sensor, all iPhones have them, it took the iPhone ages to get here because of that!

  • @EXAPHEX proximity sensor

  • @EXAPHEX it's the proximity sensor... the sensor that shuts down the display of the phone when you are talking

  • @EXAPHEX It's a sensor.

  • @EXAPHEX the proximity sensor since it's white it u can c it

  • You know what they say. Once you go black, you never go back. ; )

  • This is obviously going to happen, you're blocking the antenna. It's not a problem or an issue, it's simply science. If you block an antenna .. signal won't be received.

  • I don't think the color o the phone would change that? And who holds their phone like that anyway?

  • Why you would EVER want to hold your iPhone such a way..?

  • @simmerimme if your left handed ?

  • @mintuz So people who are left handed need to hold their iPhones that hard? The only time I can imagine someone needs to hold their phone like that is when you are holding it over a really high cliff and donät want to drop it... And that happens a lot for lefties?

  • @mintuz So people who are left handed need to hold their iPhones that hard? The only time I can imagine someone needs to hold their phone like that is when you are holding it over a really high cliff and don't want to drop it... And that happens a lot for lefties?

  • @simmerimme don't you allow left hand? also, sometimes you just touched that gap by carelessness and the signal went off.

  • @simmerimme its a design flaw no matter what....

  • @simmerimme Im left - handed and when i hold my phone it always covers this black line attenna,im not doing it on purpose, its just the way i naturally hold a phone. Why the fuck should i hold my phone a certain way just to get reception?? i sent this piece of shit back last september after 3 days using it.

  • @simmerimme beats me. as soon as any companies come out with products they think are perfect, there ARE those difficult, picky people who WILL find the faults in every product they purchase.

so we are advised not to hold the iphone in such a death grip fashion. the the majority of the right-minded human race aren't itching hold it like that, and are thankful for their device.

the iPhone 4 is actually quite an amazing phone.

    xx-Brittany

  • @simmerimme Not like DEATH Grip but some people like me are left handed, but im used to handle a Smart phone in my right hand. I learned with right hand but I am left handed.

  • @simmerimme left handed people will hold it that way

  • @simmerimme A person who likes to strangle people. :P

  • would have helped if u had wifi off to see the effects on 3G. on my black the 3G goes to E also. only sometimes mind

  • I would have expected that one major reason for the release of a white iPhone would be that they actually improved something in it, especially after all these months... but I guess they just released an iPhone 4 colored in white... And even worse, people still want to buy it, just for the color... Oh, Lord, give me strength to deal with human STUPIDITY !...

  • @bigsteamfan i dont want the white im happy with my black one :D

  • I have the iphone 4 and have saw signal bars drop but have yet to have a dropped call. Its been over a month

  • Ahhhhhh

  • I strongly believe that this issue will be on every iPhone 4 model produced, both GSM and CDMA

  • Weird... U guys got another phOne
