This production is much better than the orignal, series, which incidentally, turned out to be declining every year. This film is serious, dark, grim and realistic, with a great job of director, and very beautiful photo and wonderful soundtrack. Excellent production, I think one of the best thrillers I've ever seen.
ColinChick you are SO wrong. One the series the pilot the first Daytona was a black Authentic real Daytona Spyder 365 GTS/4. And then after the Pilot it was a converted Corvette (Daytona Replica) Finally in 1986 Ferrari grew tired of Miami Vice using a replica car with a real Cavallino Rampante. so they gave them 2 Black Testarossas and since they didn't show up in night shots they painted them white,
Come on man, everybody who watched Miame Vice and was a real fan knows the first season the Farrari[white one] was a kit car[fiber-glass] made to look like the real thing. The sound man dubbed the engine sounds in. When it became a huge hit the second black car was the REAL thing. With a hit they could afford to use the a real Ferrari!
Come on man, everybody who watched Miame Vice and was a real fan knows the first season the Farrari[white one] was a kit car[fiber-glass] made to look like the real thing. lol@someone sayin its sonnys personal car the ferrarri was a police impound he drives also nice wardrobes for his cover just like 762full said ........he wasnt no mike lawrey from bad boys the movie/tv show sonny crockett character was always broke he didnt have shit. he was gettin fucked up by child support i think the only thing he owned was a house boat lol. someone never really paid attention to miami vice if they think sonny was rich.
@MrandMrsOlden But would you honestly expect the viewers of this dreadful film to understand the good original concept that Sonny Bernett was broke and lived on a boat with Elvis, the rest was all impounded police property, and like said his money went on child support and ciggerattes.
The blue flame from the exhaust is just retarded, and hearing the engine of the Ferrari was also very un-Miami Vice.
Of course we all know that policemen have f430's as personal cars, whether in Miami or in any city lol.
In the US, narcs are statistically the most corrupt cops, and if one were to drive any vehicle of comparable value, they and their domestic accounts would immediately be investigated by IA and IRS, always hungry for asset seizures.
The movie was enjoyable to watch (the effects were brilliantly done), unfortunately plot realism was the apparent enemy of the writer.
@762full The Ferrari is part of their highroller cover at the time (just like their expensive go-fast boats at the beginning), the MDPD doesn't hand out Ferrari's to every cop. It makes financial sense for the PD to finance a car like that for the sake of bringing down a prostitution ring.
@762full It's not his personal car...it was a drug impound he get's to drive for his cover. To quote the original Sonny "I can't go to six figure drug deals looking like Lil Abner!"
And yes, the show/movie are out of the realm of reality... :)
The blue flames coming out the back of the Ferrari is just unburned petrol that escapes from the combustion chamber. It is DEFINITELY NOT Nitrous Oxide. :)
Yes. Finally someone who nows something about real cars. The fuel injector timing in the f430 is very agressive with the automatic transmition and the auto clutch. To make the car lose the minimum amount of power the injector keeps pouring fuel into the engine that don't get burned there and goes straight to the exhaust.
The unburned petrol that escapes from the exhaust known as backfire is achieved when you de-accelerate or down-shifting thus i guess the blue flames is just visual effect to look like NOS
@nedyarbnodnoc Running straight pipes enhances this flame also which I believe is what they did to that car used in the film, plus the sound is incredible and better than any aftermarket crap you can put on it. Ferrari 360 with straight pipes (no cats), prepare to have an eargasm > /watch?v=DOQFKgvA9AU
it's probably an added effect either digital or by means of an device but the blue flames definetly occur even in ordinary cars..it's a definite sign that the engine is running way too rich...they don't look like thse jet flames in reality...rather like a zippo lighter in the wind
Just to put this out there: a) the blue flames are indeed unburned gas, not nitrous oxide and b) NOS doesn't speed up combustion, it actually slows it down, causing the pistons to have the same amount of power for fewer rotations, resulting in a boost of power as the rotations are already occurring at a set pace.
you guys gotta stop watchin those tokyo drift movies nos does not make those flames you fucken retards its gas that was not burnt in the engine and gets burnt in the muffler due to the extreme heat
Nitrous Oxide System= NOS... And the flame comes from gas fumes that weren't combusted in the block and made it thru the exhaust...And the nitrous doesn't "speed up" the combustion, it adds more oxygen to produce a bigger explosion in the block. Tico's an idiot and has not a friggin clue about what he speaks...
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Lol that aftermarket system is NOS which stands for nitrius. Nitrius is a type of Catalyst which speeds up the process of internal combustion in the engine giving the car anywere from 25 to 50 percent more horse power.
The flame thing is just leftover gas that's burning up. If you watch the Top Gear videos of the Koenigsegg CCX, you'll see that happening, and the Fifth Gear video of the Lambo Gallardo SE.
Miami Vice was a good movie but I can't help but think it could have been so much better. Go see Collateral, it is such a good movie. (by the same director)
i agree collateral was such a great movie and michael mann is the mann as far as im concerned i grew up on miami vice and watched them tool around in different ferrari's thats why when i got my first a 512, i bought it because it reminded me of them good ole dayz watchin vice only difference is mine has a v-12 so im much faster... timdog
The nice part of it is that the blue flamethrowers don't come with stock Ferrari F430, including Spyder (which is that model). So, they installed them just to look more perfect than already is. And I've never seen a flamethrower exhaust so beautiful... and very nice soundtrack too. 4 STARS.
I just bought a red stock F430 and my friend told me that he saw blue flames coming out of my exauhst pipes as we were racing each other. He had a Harley by the way.
hey jon could you please call my dealer and have them talk to your guy so that i could finally get my F430 please damn who else do i have to kill to get my 3rd ferrari already?? as always, thee legend tomdog
no, not a rich player... actually i was a small business owner in yorba linda, ca. i had a small tree company, worked my self to almost death for the few ferrari's i got to enjoy for a few years. then the irs came and took my preciouse toys... oh, well. life goes on, at least i was a ferrari owner at one time. as always, timdog
to be honest i love the movie and the tv series
