thank you so much for this video - I can't believe it's been so long, seems like only yesterday that Barbaro left - he is still thought of and missed and will always be a Champion. The song is one of my favourites and I truly think you did a wonderful job on this video. We have a retired racer (now 23), he raced from 2 years old to 5 years old with several wins. He likes this song and I sing it to him often while grooming.

I have the utmost respect for the owners, they tried their very very best to save barbaro, but in the end their compassion for his life vs. his suffering was greater. God bless the owners for their efforts and coutless dollars to save his life, as i know many an owner would have put their horse down immediately. But God bless the horse for his inspiration, even for a horse, he left a huge impact on the humans that know his name.

I loved that horse. I used to own race horses and my favorite one was named Twister, he looked very much like Barbaro. this song always makes me have to catch a tear running down my cheek. Twister won his last race but with a broken leg and an 80 percent bleed...like Barbaro, my Twister had heart! He lives on a farm and does as he pleases now and he is fat. Thank you for sharing one of Dan's songs that catches the essence of the love of these animals and what they are capable of.

you ever think that maybe Barbaro was a hero because of who he was? We're in a war right now and usually something besides a person can have a greater impact on someone. He inspired people and if you look at the date of when this video was posted, you'll see he had just died a few days before. What a beautiful video. This tribute does my boy proud. Barbaro was a one in a million horse that I doubt will ever be seen again. I have to admit though, seeing Big Brown almost makes me wonder if he carries Barbaro's spirit. Too many similarities to be coincidence. The horses love to race, unforntunately the other day one of the horses I work with did a tendon, it's sad watching him watch the other horses being worked and pacing up and down his stable because he himself wants to be worked. Most racehorses love what they do, they wouldn't run as fast as they do if hey didn't. It's what they are bred to do it's in their blood but unfortunately accidents happen.

The horses especially the ones of Barbaro's pedigree and stature live better lives then the people who care for them. If you take two or more horses and put them in a field or even put them on a track sans jockey and starting gate, they would race, it's in their blood, it's what they do. Many horses have suffered the same injury in the fields and pastures, but you don't hear about it because the horses weren't of the same stature as Barbaro or because it didn't happen live on national TV.

It is not cruelty to let throughbreds do what they love which is running. You are cruel if you think they shouldn't be ableto do what they live for. It's their life. Not what they have to do. It's what they want to do. Have you ever been near a throuhbred? If you have then you would know how much heart and courage and spirit they have.
