Def leppard is a overrated fag full of themselves britishband with only 1 hit song. JOURNEY IS WAY BETTER, BIGGER, AND SHOUDVLE HEADLINE THIS TOUR. COMMEN SENSE PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!
Care to explain as to how someone makes such a "yum yum" statement? Schon isn't my fave but as a guitarist I'd "LOVE" to hear how Hendrix is "wAyYyYY" better. What makes him better? His phrasing, technique, ability? Because I can asure you he has none of that next to Schon..accept for the acid trips. Then again disregard, I know you've never touched a fretboard in your life the statement proves that.
I hope one day I'll be able to thank Neal in person for all his music. Asked my wife to marry me while "Patiently" was in the radio...married 18 years ago, "Stone in Love" was playing on our way to our honeymoon....Sang "Good Morning Girl" to my wife the day she died....
who played first journey or Def? Lol i saw them both but not at the same time! saw journey last year in tampa and Def this year at the same place in tampa lol
It's not messy, it's just that he's blowing so many licks by you in such a short time span it's not easy for your ear to comprehend-and he's not trying to play fast, he IS playing fast...
LOL Exactly... What does he think the term "prodigy" means??!! Anyways, Neal is my favorite guitarist of ALL time, and the music coming from one guitar is literally out of this world. My dream is to personally thank him for his music, also.
Of course we have!. Randy left before his time, Santana keeps creating new rythms and Jimmy opened new ways to rock us all.
But you can't deny Neil's place in the list of great guitar players. Yes, we all miss Journey, and we miss Steve Perry. But the work of Neil Schon, before, during and after Journey has it's own merits.
Imagine Neil playing "Dee". Wow! That's a thought!
I guess that's why Santana asked Schon to come play with him when Schon was only 15. We know there are other greats out there, Schon is just one of them and not given the credit he deserves!
No, just someone with more chops than Clapton. Clapton was all about blues and playing fairly boxed-in patterns. Schon was simply ahead of Clapton ref technique and Santana liked Schon because unlike Clapton, he played a Les Paul (like santana did or a Gibson vs Fender). Clapton is overrated big time.
Alot of expression when ya know how to touch it right! GO NEAL...We americans may have our stupid moments, but we proudly stand as a country made up of people from everyplace on the globe. We must be doing something right! We glady go anywhere in the world to defend those who cannot defend themselves, at the cost of our own sons and daughters. Imagine a world without the courage it takes to stand up for whats right.
Too bad music doesn't destroy evil! Neal could knock 'em down with one SOLO!!!
Im Scottish and a huge Journey fan.Ive seen them 3 times in recent years.I love this passionate performance of such a beautiful national anthem.I love the patriotism of you Americans. We Scots share it with you.
Thanks for your kind words. It was a very electrifying moment. I was very impress because this concert took place in the San Francisco Bay Area, where a lot of people with very liberal (and sometimes anti-American beliefs) live. But they ALL got to their feet when the National Anthem was played.
I saw them on this tour in Grand Rapids. Neal's version of this is the best I have ever heard. Better than Hendrix. Journey rules! Hope they find a new singer soon.
I lived a block away when they were building it(was land fill)back in '83.They had to put vent pipes in the ground because when you lit one up,you would get a flare from the gases out of the ground!Question:Does it still smell like a dump?
i was at the aug 31 concert in Auburn, wa. --- Journey was awesome! Def Leppard - played a good 2nd to Journey! but, the both bands were really great and i yelled myself hoarse! LOL. this intro actually brought a tear to my eye! good job neil!

The background is nice. Neal plays with nice melody. I don't like how it's messy sounding when he tries to play fast.

Neal started to play with Santana at the age of 15, and chose him instead of Eric Clapton. Only a guitar god can do such a thing at the age of 15!
