In my opinion, the Willis Tower in chicago is still taller then Taipei 101 and the petronas twin towers. Hell even the John Hancock center is taller than the petronas towers. i think that if they count a spire, they should also count antennas. look at a chart showing the height of the four towers and try to tell me the petronas towers are taller than the willis tower. its bullshit

for all the people that are wondering, taipei 101 is currently the tallest, but not for long because of the one thats currently building in dubai, im taiwanese, and im actually really excited for that one :D however, japan is also building one in a few years time, taipei 101 may not be the tallest in many peoples minds, but it is still, and will remain for a long time, the first ever tallest building built able to deal with natures 2 most harshest disasters.

the ostankino tower in moscow russia is taller then the taipei 101 by a long shot, but that its a tv tower (observation tower), its put under a different category, so this tower is really not tall at all compared to the ostankino one.

Wow. It's as unappealing on the inside as it is ugly on the outside. This observation deck has all the charm of a small-town commuter airport terminal. The view is rather unspectacular as well, since Taipei 101 seems to be the ONLY skyscraper in the entire city. I am glad to see the world's tallest title pass to more attractive towers.

Sorry, just calling it as I see it. The fireworks shows seen in other videos of the tower are spectacular though.

it is still the tallest in the world. But until the burj is completed. Anyway, the Taiwanese should be even more proud than the Arabs because they build this 101 themselves without help from foreigners, not that I know of. And the building is sophisticated enough to resist typhoon and earthquate which are the major weather conditions in Taiwan. That is one of the reason why Taiwan doesnt have much tall buildings.

Taipei is my hometown. I actually agree Taipei 101 isn't a pretty building but the view from the top is fantastic. The building looks good at night with neon lights on it.
