@needlearmor PART A: If you have cavitation & the joint capsule loosens, then certainly that is going to cause increased ROM, but it seems to me the joint is not in it's 'natural state' & may even be more susceptible to postural stresses (gravity). Also, think about applying a manual manip to an assumed fixated point; where is the force transfer going to go? Perhaps the path of least resistance? The force may be imparted at the perceived point of ..(GO TO PART B)

If you apply manual mobilizations with movements, the joint moves in it's normal physiologic state, the obstruction to movement is removed & the joint moves freely.
