Threats may turn you off, but they're the staple of Christianity. A prominent preacher once told me that he thought Christianity was the most judgmental of all religions, and that's the way he liked it. And he was applauded by most of his congregation for saying so to my face.

The bible is also a book of judgment, not acceptance. Christians don't have a history of tolerance. Christianity isn't a world wide religion because of its popularity; it became so from violent missionaries and inquisitions. You either joined or were persecuted; this was the modus operandi up until the 19th century. So what you have a problem with is irrelevant. The bible is open to wide interpretation and the preacher I spoke of might just as well call you false.

I don't think praying before football is silly at all. Numerous people pray before sports, singing, going on stage for performances, accepting awards, flying in planes, sitting down to eat, ect.....
