this is call lian,from silat gayang lima.look simple,not as beautiful as other silat that u can see in malaysia or indo,but quite deadly enough.its perform `buah pukul`,means massive attack or combat.for street fightng,it`s really useful,and dangerous also.

Granted a well-trained boxer can rapidly KO a man with his fists. But the palm heel should also not be underestimated. A good strike to the nose, chin or eardrum can also easily stun or KO. The fact that it is often combined with an eye gouge is a good plus point.
One of the disadvantages of the open hand in UFC are the rules forbidding strikes to certain sensitive spots (eye gouges, etc.), plus it is true that a professional ring fighter well conditioned fists would probably deliver more devastating blows.
A non-professional ring fighter might however find it essential to maintain good hand dexterity (surgeon, guitarist, etc.) and can't afford to condition his fists. Or a busy person wants to learn self-defence without having to commit several hours a week working on the makiwara/heavy bag. That's when open palm strikes are most attractive.

it didn't look offensive for me. I've seen the worst one which they need less than a second to put their opponents on ground and I saw it on real fight, not demonstration.
the idea was similar but the demonstration was better. Put the fast version first (it was a common demonstration strategy for any martial arts demonstration in Jakarta), than if audience interested, you can put the slow and clear one.

this is call lian,from silat gayang lima.look simple,not as beautiful as other silat that u can see in malaysia or indo,but quite deadly enough.its perform `buah pukul`,means massive attack or combat.for street fightng,it`s really useful,and dangerous also.

even in mma, palm fist with gloves cause more cuts than punches also, palm fists have more concussive power behind them because the area of impact are bigger than punches, more concussive power = more knock out chance. palm vs fist would be an even fite... also wen fighting with ur fist's u run the risk of breaking ur hand... Granted a well-trained boxer can rapidly KO a man with his fists. But the palm heel should also not be underestimated. A good strike to the nose, chin or eardrum can also easily stun or KO. The fact that it is often combined with an eye gouge is a good plus point.

One of the disadvantages of the open hand in UFC are the rules forbidding strikes to certain sensitive spots (eye gouges, etc.), plus it is true that a professional ring fighter well conditioned fists would probably deliver more devastating blows.

A non-professional ring fighter might however find it essential to maintain good hand dexterity (surgeon, guitarist, etc.) and can't afford to condition his fists. Or a busy person wants to learn self-defence without having to commit several hours a week working on the makiwara/heavy bag. That's when open palm strikes are most attractive.

the idea was similar but the demonstration was better. Put the fast version first (it was a common demonstration strategy for any martial arts demonstration in Jakarta), than if audience interested, you can put the slow and clear one.
