Honestly, the scariest game for me was Dead Space 2; all because I was playing the game for first time, placed difficulty on hardest while wearing surround sound headphones on blast. It terrified me to the point I said "enough is enough".. lol

You should try Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth on the xbox/PC it's a great game with lots of scares. Also try Condemned on the xbox360 and Siren: New Translation on the PS3.
I played Silent hill 4 a few years ago. But I'd never finished it. After a while I couldn't continue and I turned it off. The same with Silent hill 2. Then I sold my ps2.
And I don't want to play RE. I'm not a big fan of fighting zombies alone (like more to fight them thogether, like in L4D) and I don't like the camera angles in the game. Prefer first person or third person (like in dead space).
I've almost finished Dead space. I'm on the last chapter :) Good game.

im totally agree with Resident Evil Remake and Fatal Frame 2, in the list should be Silent Hill 1 and in my humble opinion Silent Hill its a great game, in fact the second after Silent Hill 1, its just a misunderstood game!

Silent Hill is not creepy in itself. It is notorious because you look at the things you see in every single part, can not even imagine in his worst nightmares. It is simply cruel and disgusting. I am a big fan of them but I must say that I in any part I played was not a place where I did not feel totally uncomfortable. But that's what I love to play these feelings of horror and just a good horror game should bring in a player.

Everything in that game is fuckin scary. The camera, the history, and specially the sounds. I've never seen a game with such a kind of sounds like Alone in the Dark has. It isn't a game with lot's of monsters but that's what makes the game awesome! You never know when you'll be attacked. It's just the best horror game ever :D
I was in my mid-30s when I played Project Zero II for the first time, and, dear God, I had forgot how much I got horrified with that staircase ghost until tonight!! Same with Silent Hill 4; I quit after lasting a few minutes into that metro station too and never played again the game... Can't explain why, but the older I get, the more scared of such games I become :( ...

Clock Tower 1 used to really scare me and as a kid I had hard times playing resident evil 1, doom and splatterhouse 2 (yes it was scary back then, as a kid).
Forbidden Siren is also partially scary but maybe too weird, I also had various feelings with Dark Corners of the earth. I agree about Fatal Frame but I prefered the first one. I totally agree about silent hill 4, damn sick. Michigan is kinda "weird/scary" too but maybe too weird and cheap.

Everyone seems to think Fatal Frame II is the scariest of the series, but I actually think its fatal frame III. At first you only find ghosts in your deams, but they eventually start appearing in your house in the real world and its creepy as hell.
Dead space is the most terrifying games i played, silent hill is good and scary but i thing the real word about is, it makes psychotic, annoys you.. you only play it for a few minutes, and than you switch to another game, cause it ruin your whole day.. resident evil remake isnt that scary, i found the original resident evil much scarier

Try Condemned, you will SHIT yourself, its probably the scariest game of all time, hands down (forget condemned 2, its scary, but nothing like #1). Also, if you thought SH4 was scary, take Homiegdawg99's advice, and check SH1 & 2, once again, you'll shit yourself. Deadspace is some scary shit tho, I love it!
Silent hill 4 get a lot of hate, but i thought it was freaky as hell. The ghosts flying around and the stuff moving in your apartment is really un-nerving.
I look at like this. It was a very good horror game, but nothing like a Silent Hill game. I say that because I think Silent Hill (the whole series) is a LOT deeper than just horror. It transends all sorts of genre defining cliches (especially SH2, probably the best game ever made, period, but not the scariest game). The same goes for SH5. Good horror game, great graphics, but a disappointing SH game.
I don't know what you people are smoking but dead space made me go though pants like nobodys business and dead space 2 wasn't really that scary but still frightening and the the gameplay and story made up for that.

Fatal Frame 4 for the Wii was terrifying. I think the fact that it was a japanese copy subbed over made it worse. There's one point where your character picks up a phone randomly ringing (in an old hospital I might add) and the voice starts talking to you in this raspy old japanese voice right through the speaker on the Wii remote. Bricks were shat.
Dead Space 1 is a classic, even if it's admittingly copying every horror/sci-fi element from pop culture a true horror/sci-fi fan would know and love. Dead Space 2 is just garbage, doing the same, even more... and stupidly so... only knuckleheads could appreciate that.
I've played SH 1 and SH 4. I thought SH 4 was too scary. At one point, I couldn't continue the game. Too scary... But that was a long time ago (maybe i'll play it again and finish it. But only if the game exist on PC. For I will not buy PS2 once again. I've already sold my PS2 and won't buy it again)

Everyone seems to think Fatal Frame II is the scariest of the series, but I actually think its fatal frame III. At first you only find ghosts in your deams, but they eventually start appearing in your house in the real world and its creepy as hell.

Dead space is the most terrifying games i played, silent hill is good and scary but i thing the real word about is, it makes psychotic, annoys you.. you only play it for a few minutes, and than you switch to another game, cause it ruin your whole day.. resident evil remake isnt that scary, i found the original resident evil much scarier

Try Condemned, you will SHIT yourself, its probably the scariest game of all time, hands down (forget condemned 2, its scary, but nothing like #1). Also, if you thought SH4 was scary, take Homiegdawg99's advice, and check SH1 & 2, once again, you'll shit yourself. Deadspace is some scary shit tho, I love it!

I look at like this. It was a very good horror game, but nothing like a Silent Hill game. I say that because I think Silent Hill (the whole series) is a LOT deeper than just horror. It transends all sorts of genre defining cliches (especially SH2, probably the best game ever made, period, but not the scariest game). The same goes for SH5. Good horror game, great graphics, but a disappointing SH game.

any hardcore gamer would dislike it since you can't do shit since it's not about survival(not in the least)it's about running and hiding basicly,oh, and solve some ridiculously stupid puzzles. it's more the kind of game that Kids use to have an excuse to pee themselves. they should have made a book,not a game.

Penumbra also had it's absurd following cult, especially absurd considering how weak and boring it was, but since it's one of the few "PC ONLY" survival out there I guess braindead PC ONLY gamers can't help but wank frenetically on it. Fatal Frame 4 for the Wii was terrifying. I think the fact that it was a japanese copy subbed over made it worse. There's one point where your character picks up a phone randomly ringing (in an old hospital I might add) and the voice starts talking to you in this raspy old japanese voice right through the speaker on the Wii remote. Bricks were shat.

Dead Space 1 is a classic, even if it's admittingly copying every horror/sci-fi element from pop culture a true horror/sci-fi fan would know and love. Dead Space 2 is just garbage, doing the same, even more... and stupidly so... only knuckleheads could appreciate that.

I've never finished a Silent hill game.
I've played SH 1 and SH 4. I thought SH 4 was too scary. At one point, I couldn't continue the game. Too scary... But that was a long time ago (maybe i'll play it again and finish it. But only if the game exist on PC. For I will not buy PS2 once again. I've already sold my PS2 and won't buy it again)
