  • I'm a straight male, but I loved this album, especially this song. I was 14 when it came out, and I love this song even now. Thanks for posting.

  • my name is marlena :]

  • I know a good song when I hear it, and that's a very good song. They were fun, positive and generally very happy days.

  • Such a pretty song !! Loved these boys back in the day .... esp. Ian! The most beautiful boy ever! :)

  • I was so in love with these boys when I was a kid... and hearing this song just makes me remember those days... Love it. LOVE it. <3

  • this osng used to depress me so bad when I was 10- I used to think it was about a schizophrenic girl LOL!!! I don't quit remember it sounding so bouncy on the album...

  • いいねー

  • i wanted to marry eric i went looking for the perfect tarten that eric wore thankyou for posting

  • Continued:

Many of their most well known and loved songs were written by Eric & Woody... :

Marlena / My Teenage Heart / La Belle Jeanne / Angel Baby / to name but a very few.

Unfortunately, probably their most well known hit: Bye Bye Baby (baby goodbye),

was written by Bob Crewe and Bob Gaudio (of 60's band The Four Seasons) in 1965 .

Glad you're liking the old tunes, when music WAS music! lol

  • @soniclady89 The First Boys Band!! I loved them too! But I am a guy....but that does not make me shy today.

  • did they write there own songs and play their own instruments? I wasnt even born when this came out however the good thing to come outta YT and the net age is that youngsters like wor starved of good pop music can escape back in time when pop music actually had some music in it

  • @jasonfury1

They had quite a few writers, notably Phil Coulter & Bill Martin on their ''Rollin'' album .. though Eric,Woody AND Les wrote Marlena.

Once Upon A star - their 2nd album, Eric, and Woody wrote nearly all the songs with the occasional input from Les.

I believe many of the B sides to singles were of the Rollers own composition too.

Yes they played their own instruments and would often swap around.

Eric & Woody are very accomplished musicians in their own right.

    Cont:....

  • I'd marry Pat McGlynn-my first love for the past 34 years-and COUNTING!!!!

  • Woody!

  • I loved these when i was 12 wow !! I wanted to marry Les

  • I Love the Bay City Rolls !!! Thanks for posting.

  • The song was called "Marlina".Because my daughter is named after this song. She's 19 yrs old an loves this song. She has it on her Ipod.

  • What Roller did I want to marry? Well, I thought Les was cute, but my sister liked him so I couldn't. I really knew Eric was cute but my best friend liked him so I couldn't. Then Ian came along and he was MY roller until he was gone. Now I'd tell my friend to stuff it and marry Eric. Silly me, I should have grabbed him first!

  • I love you Alan! ^.^

  • This song was the B side of the vinyl 45 single for Saturday Night. I practically wore it out. Now that I am older, haven't listened to this around 30 years, I have fallen in love and I am 13 again. I was definitely going to marry Woody. I still love them all and the music is quite amazing, the arrangements are beautiful, but you don't hear it as a young teenager, you can appreciate as an adult.

  • i have been a huge bcr fan since i was 6 or 7 years old, i had a big crush on all the guys then.but now at the age of 40,if i could marry one of them,it would have to be eric. he has a really sweet smile and the most sexy, gorgeous blue eyes. i love you eric forever and always!!!!

  • Great song, but the ending sounds almost identical to Bob Dylan's 'Positively 4th Street'.

  • I was going to marry eric

  • never realized Derek was so....built! Those shoulders are very broad indeed!

  • @KikoMs3 I still love him.

  • For anyone who wants the pic of the lads in the grass (at 02:01 of the vid)

Just.... type 'bay city rollers' in the google image search bar... scroll down, and there it is :)

  • Eric. Then and now.

  • @yvonnedale1 ME TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • LOVEDLOVEDLOVED Woody - but had a "thing" for all of them at one time or another..I just saw Les McKeown and his Legendary BCR in Regina last weekend -- was an awesome show !!!...stood in line after the show and met him and got autographs - was a memorable night for sure as the last time i saw him perform there was 1975 or so

  • Alan. He was and is still the sexiest man alive:)

  • This is one of my favourite tunes of theirs. It was always Woody for me, although with a slight leaning towards Eric as well :)))

  • ERIICCCCCC

  • Alan always!!!

  • @zula154 I'm with you there! He was sooo gorgeous :)

  • As the Former Future Mrs. Eric Faulkner, it was Eric and those blue eyes of his that I wanted to marry....

  • Back in the day, the BCR had to say that "Marlena" and "Jeanne" (from the song La Belle Jeanne) were fictional girls, because their fans were so ...um..."enthusiastic" in their love for the guys that sometimes girls with those names were being attacked or harrassed out of suspicion that they might be 'the one'.....

  • I would have been an unlawful bigamist because I wanted to marry Les and Ian..LOL!

  • would have to say the roller i wanted to marry was les, then woody.............looking at this video now at the age of 42, it would be alan lol

  • Wow! Nice job! Quite the eye-opener!;-)

  • @tammyjwood042

And everyone who has watched this video.

There simply are times from our earlier lives where songs/memories and our first loves just linger....

But for the good - it's great to reminisce happier, much simpler times, where songs like this filled our ears and Eric, Woody, Les, Alan & even Derek - filled our every waking thought and conversation :)

This song = instant transportation back to 1976

Hands up everyone who now has a dreamy look in their eyes and a big stupid grin :)

  • @soniclady89

I love that every song I hear I can't help but smile. My daughters have bought me cd's but there is nothing like the sound of an old record spinning! Eric has the most beautiful dreamy blue eyes....could swim in them forever. I so miss those simple days where did time go?! The giddy days with your BF talking and Saturday mornings waking up to watch the guys on the TV, love the Scotish accient.
