  • I just love their voices. *RIP Morgan&Miller* The imperfections make it even better

    - casual baseball fan

  • THANK YOU JOE MORGAN

    NOW I KNOW

  • Better than John Madden going "WELL WHEN A PITCHER WALKS A BATTER LIKE THIS THAT MEANS THE BATTER GETS TO GO TO FIRST BASE AND IF THE PITCHER CONTINUES TO WALK BATTERS, THE TEAM WILL PROBABLY NEED TO SWITCH UP THEIR PITCHING PLAN"

  • good player bad announcer.

  • The thing people should remember though is that the Sunday Night Baseball audience, as a whole, isn't necessarily all that advanced when it comes to baseball savvy. Sometimes announcers like to throw in insight like this to speak to those people, even if it's ridiculously obvious to some, or even most.

  • Back when Ollie Perez was good, how I long for those days...

  • I was at this game. The Mets won 11-2.

  • jesus christ these two rival buck and mccarver for worst broadcasting booth in history. fucking morons.

  • I thought he was gonna say something like "I've always found that walks allow runners to reach base. Now the other team can drive them in."

  • I still haven't heard a remotely intelligent reason to dislike Joe Morgan.

  • If you know any sports announcer's name and they aren't a former player, then you must be gay. Regardless of his announcing talent, Joe Morgan is a good guy and one of the greatest players of all time. If you disagree, then you are clearly uninformed.

  • @Bogie6588 lol dumbest fucking thing i ever read

  • Hall of Famer. Top 30 player of all time. Smarter than me, you, or anyone else commenting on this vid clip. And BY FAR a better player than me , you, or any other wannabe clown commenting on this vid clip. Disses Sabermetrics openly. Good enough for me, Joe's okay in my book

  • I loved Joe Morgan. Maybe the problem is that he was best for games with the biggest audiences. I only watch baseball during the playoffs. So Joe Morgan's explanations have always been awesome for me. But if I was a baseball expert and knew the ins-and-outs of the game, I could see how Morgan's comments every single Sunday would be tiresome and annoying. But for occasional fans that only tune in for 15 or 20 games a year, he was the best. He really gets the viewer into the game.

  • @SpartanSun21 Sounds like hes the leader of the idiots, then. Anyone that relies on Morgans insight for baseball, is doomed.

  • @arentwespecial in my opinion my favorite will always have to be dave niehaus, god rest his soul. "my oh my"

  • I haven't heard much of Morgan, so I don't really have an opinion on him. I don't understand all the hate for Jon Miller, I think he's pretty good. The best, for me, will probably always be Duane Kuiper. Nobody is as intense and exciting as Kuiper when calling big moments, and Mike Krukow is a very good color man.

  • Joe Morgan blog haters are going to hell.

  • Thank God! They finally fired this hack!

  • Jon Miller is a great play by play guy.

  • Sorry, but Miller is simply collateral damage in this situation. Morgan was the butcher. Miller is actually very good.

  • Thiesmann, Doug Collins (i.e., Jordan stories "when I was with Michael..."), Randy Cross and that cold hearted lady who does football on ESPN

  • Morgan is gone! Finally!

  • Joe Buck is the worst announcer known to man.

  • Mike Patrick is the worst

  • Wait Jon Miller is not bad at all...

  • I think miller is good, because hes a kinda half way historian (if that makes sense) but morgan is just awful. But the worst is tim mccarver.

  • i can;t stand listening to a game if joe morgan isn't doing the commentary...he's knows so much about the game..

  • worst title for a video eveeeer!

  • joe buck sucks too. /////////

  • these guys arent that terrible... nothing like tim mccarver or hawk harrelson jon millers alright at least

  • How about this unknown who called A's, Warriors, and Raider games and never even got one consideration for the Hall Bill King he's better than anyone listed above or below

  • great insightful commentary. It's like saying a 3 run homer is better than a 2 run homer because you get one more run than you would have if there was only one runner on base.

  • I think Jon miller is better on radio, especially giants radio. He truly is exciting to listen to and his soothing voice is great. A very very smart man I might add.

  • I like Jon Miller but Joe Morgan is terrible. He IS smug AND biased. I have no idea how he's made it this long in commentary.

  • i like joe morgan he might come off as smug but ive met him a couple times and he is a nice guy

  • All the sudden, leadoffwalks haunt you.

  • Morgan is an upity racist and a terrible anouncer.

He mentioned once how mauer has an advantage playing on fake grass in the Metrodome. This from a guy that played his whole career on green cement!!

  • Seriously one of the worst announcers in the history of sports. He might as well be like, "See, I think that you have a better chance of winning the playoff series if you win 4 games before your opponent wins 4 games."

  • Not only is Joe Morgan the worst color commentator in professional sports, but he also comes off as a very pompous asshole. "If you're a left-handed pitcher and you throw strikes, you're going to get a lot of people out." Really? No Shit, retard! I cannot stand him. I was literally just watching sunday night baseball and I got so aggravated that I felt the need to get on the computer, find a video and vent about him. That's kind of sad.

  • hANDS dOWN jOE mORGAN BEST ANNOUNCER OF MY GENERATION

  • lol miller was like omg stop talking joe...

  • @Y2jandMannyR4life I've always loved those little long-suffering, Oliver Hardy-esque glances Miller shoots at the camera whenever Morgan starts holding forth.

  • lol miller was like omg...

  • LoL...what?

  • What a fuckin idiot

  • I cant stop laughing

  • Joe Morgan is a little Bitch, he complains way too much when he calls the games.

He always complains about no black players in MLB, and im thinking, what the Fuck does that have to do with the Game Right Now!!!!

Where does it say that a certain amount of black people have to play MLB, there is no Rule saying they have to play baseball.

If black people dont want to play baseball than let it GO morgan.

  • You New York and Boston sissies aren't fit to breathe the same air that Joe Morgan breathes. Now shut your timid little mouths, buy your bagels and egg creams, and go to the Sissy Gym where you sissy jock sniffers can oil up and worship your drug-addled gods: Giambi, Alex Rodriguez, Manny, etc., etc., etc.

Joe Morgan will be remembered long after you are reduced to ash in the wind.

  • RIP FireJoeMorgan... again

  • Joe Morgan is great. Calm, soothing voice and doesn't try to sound too smart. Best commentator in baseball right now. Take your negativity and shove it.

  • He's also a great analyst! (See Joe Morgan's chats)

  • @MrClipper23 nope

  • Thanks Joe!

  • Joe Morgan is the MAN!

  • As a Red Sox fan, I always look forward to when they play the Yankees. But when it's a weekend series, I know I'll always be hit with the double whammy national TV deadly duo of McCarver on Fox Saturday and Morgan on ESPN the following night. It's just awful.

  • @DrTimWhatley Im a yankees fan and so i think i speak for the entire boston/yankees community when i say agreed 1000% hahaha thats always something thought by fans of both teams and agreed upon

  • If ESPN is watching please get rid of this guy. I hate when the Braves have to play on sunday night baseball because I know I have to be tortured for a few hours by this guy.Just horrible

  • perez dominated the yankees this game

  • Harwell was an amazing announcer. Hell, he could probably still do it today if he wanted to.

  • @xxphreshxx I'm a lifelong Detroiter and Tiger fan, so there's know way I can possibly be objective about this, but you'll never convince me that Ernie wasn't the best ever to pick up a microphone. I miss him every time I watch or listen to a game.

Scully, Kalas, Jack Buck were all great ones too, of course. Jon Miller is merely good on ESPN, downright terrific on Giants radio. But Ernie tops all of them.

  • Joe Morgan, I thank you for that nugget of wisdom. I mean, how would we ever be able to watch, much less understand baseball, without your sharp insights to guide us down the path of knowledge?

    Ugh.

  • "Lead-off walks haunt you more than two out walks."

    Thanks Joe.

  • absolutely. vin scully forever!!!!

  • ... and no one else is really close. It is a pleasure to hear Vin call a ballgame, truly.

  • That's right.

  • @OCdodgerfan88 Vin Scully is the best but Hawk, Buck, McCarver, and Miller are good broadcasters.

  • @OCdodgerfan88

There was a time when Scully was the best. That is no longer the case... every night you can guarantee he confuses players or mispronounces names.

  • @SFgiantsRMroyals I see almost every game and he does not misprounce names. At times he will confuse a player but that is rare. How many 80 years olds that you know who are still as sharp as him? Not many I'll bet. I've watched many games on ESPN, FOX, TBS etc and none of the broadcasters are anywhere near as good as him. Most are terribly overbiased and repeat themselves. Then you have old farts like Morgan and Miller who make my ears bleed. Who do you think is better then him?

  • @OCdodgerfan88

"How many 80 years olds that you know who are still as sharp as him?"

That's irrelevant, has nothing to do with his ability compared to anyone elses. There are worse than Joe Morgan. He says stupid shit, but he also says reasonable things every so often. Ken Harrelson is just dreaful. A proud homer, with awful hick-like chants ONLY for his team. A while ago, Vin was the best by a long-shot. Now, he's just average, mostly due to how slowly and boringly he speaks.

  • @OCdodgerfan88

Bias as it may sound, i find the Giants announcers Krukow and Kuiper to be the best. They may be biased at times, but for the most part they are so fair its a little sickening to listen to sometimes, even when they play the Dodgers. They're entertaining, not blatant homers, and they know what they're talking about. Vin USED to be all of that, all on his own.

  • @SFgiantsRMroyals Fair enough. Everyone has their own opinion.

  • @OCdodgerfan88 You think jon millers bad? try listening to dennis eckersley..As a red sox fan, hes kinda funny but is wicked biased and makes fun of everyone. hes gone now though.....Thank you rem dog

  • @OCdodgerfan88

Yeah you aren't biased at all... Vin Scully sounds like he could die at any minute on the radio. Only reason he has his job still is because his name is Vin Scully.

  • @DogYummy That is partly true. Primarily he still has the job because he calls a game better than anyone today. Find me someone better today. Go ahead. I can wait all day.

  • @OCdodgerfan88 No way that Jon Miller is in the same class as those hacks. He's a great announcer.

  • @OCdodgerfan88 Hawk Harrilson is such a homer.

  • Gosh, he is annoying. I'm listening to him know on the Sunday night game of the week.

  • thanks for that tidbit joe... appreciate it

  • Listen Joe, there are indeed people in world that might not know that very obvious tidbit about walks. However, there is a zero percent chance they are watching the game at that moment or will ever watch a baseball game.

  • does anyone have video of the joe morgan "country strong" quote on adam dunn?

  • Joe Morgan needs to disappear..

  • Ditto man . . .

Joe Morgan & Mercury Morris need to be brought out to sea and left for the benefit of the rest of the human race. Damn idiots.

  • Comment removed

  • if he could only concetrate more he would be more consistent.

  • He couldn't concetrate with man crush Robinson Cano at the dish.

  • ESPN baseball commentators are the worst, but then again i have the treat of listening to the YES Network crew who in my opinion are the top announcers in the sport.

  • I don't know if any of you order MLB Extra Innings, but if you have the opportunity to listen to a Vin Scully broadcast, then do it. There's no one better in the game, period.

  • i don't order MLB extra innings but i'll definately look into vin scully....i'll mute a baseball game before i listen to a shitty commentator for 9 innings though...again, i cannot stand espn broadcasting...

  • Brian Anderson of the Brewers is the best tv announcer I've ever heard.

  • Listen to Hawk Harrilson of the White Sox. That is by far the worse announcer not just in baseball but all of sports. My goodness, just awful. God awful.

  • I agree

  • love every minute of it. cant wait for sunday nights at 800 pm if youre on the east coast. make some dinner get a cold drink and sit down and watch a good ball game and listen to these guys espcially joe morgan with that classic voice. the best!

  • he's honestly worse than Tim McCarver.. he fuckin' SUCKS

  • fuck Joe Morgan turtle looking ass also, I know the Brennaman's are awful broadcasters but Joe Morgan is awful he should stick to being a ninja turtle & get off sunday night baseball, hey joe word of advice to back with SPLINTER & Rafael, Michaelangelo, Leonardo & Donatello

  • I seriously don't know why this guy has a job...he provides no real insight to the game. Oh, and Joe...every pitch is NOT a cut fastball.
