  • Great version but it detsroyed the credibility of the band

  • love it!in some ways i like this better than than the original..

  • met pete after they played in aberdeen in 83. nice guy. danny left his eyeliner in his hotel room at the holiday inn - hope he didn't have as big a strop as he did on ogwt! many thank yous for uploading this - you've made a happy man very old!

  • @phlser Saw them a couple of times...even taped the Salford Uni gig in 82..its out there somewhere

  • Ah Portsmouth Guildhall within about 2 weeks of this appearance, happy days...

  • strange situation that was!!!

  • It's cool !!!

  • I could never see the point of this cover. It just helped people brush them aside as Bowie copyists and adds nothing to the original version (unlike, say, their version of Telegram Sam).

  • I disagree. I've always liked the way they railed up to do Bowie's most famous song. I also prefered their version for years due to the increase in tempo and energy. Now I'm older I prefer Bowie's but I still love Antonin Artaud etc.

  • danny was mad cuz his guitar stopped working in te midlle of the song, thats why he threw it on the ground and left after the song was over.

  • Now ziggy Destroys the guitaaaarrrr

  • OH, I'm sorry, I didnt look close that much to see why Danny left. Now I see him having trouble with his guitar. I thought Peter was waring only black panty ho socks or somthing. And when that person jumped on stage to turn off Danny's guitar, I heard a woman scream at the same time and asume. Thanks.

  • Wow really ejectthetape, because the way that girl jumped. I know this sounds stupid but I would have jumped like that too(LOL).

  • OK did anyone saw that girl that got on the stage and screamed at the same time she fainted? I'm sorry because when she did that I sort of laughed. I'm very sorry but it was funny I couldnt help it. And did you see Peter jump like a frog, and yah where the hell did Danny go? why did he leave, was he sick, was he angry. Did that girl who jumped on stage throw somthing or what? Someone please tell me!! Did the men who were talking about them notice anything???

  • Ok first of all Pete is wearing ballet shoes. Danny walks off because his guitar fails to work at the end and the person who jumps on stage turns off danny`s amp due to the feedback noise. Hope that clears things up!

  • Is Peter even wareing any shoes?

  • Great porformance, I wish I was there. Thanks!!!

  • Il est pas content Daniel!

    ;o)

  • David J was always the classiest of them. Great preformance but WHERE THE FUCK DID DANIEL GO!? And why is Kevin in the shade? and finally Peter's shirt was ugly. Nonetheless awesome vid- They nailed it.

  • Ha Ha Dans Amp broke and he left the stage

  • His voice seems like Bowie's.

  • the hosts reaction doesn't surprise me, it's kind of funny... but you have to know this, the British music press (which music show hosts tended to be) seemed to despise Bauhaus at the time and this must have been very amusing for them..

  • I think the host was trying not to laugh at little Danny's hissy fit. He was still young then; no doubt he's matured a great deal. I saw them at the Vic in Chicago in November 2005.

  • This must be the best David Bowie cover except for Time with Cinema strange.

  • Bauhaus is an awesome band , I wish I was alive during the batkave days =/

  • Peter Murphy is so hot!!!! Fuck me Peter!!!!

  • Shut the fuck up you pig.

  • the daniel ash flip-out is especially choice.

  • Agreed. ;D

  • Bela Lugosi's dead is one of the most awesome tracks ever recorded. I played it in the dark at my kid's birthday party after they'd been playing vampires!

    Scared 'em to death!

  • This video is from the BBC TV show "The Old Grey Whistle Test" recorded live it was broacast in the early 80's... nice stuff!!

  • yeah i know i actually taped it

  • lol well done.. you're as old as I am then! Saw em around this time opening for Magazine in Northampton.. still one of my fave shows of all time

  • i also have "spy in the cab" from the same show. in fact I have at least 40 vhs tapes to convert.
