Natalie, this is awesome! But I didn't feel you made it yours until the very end. I would have loved to have seen some different word emphasis than Adele uses. You did emphasize a few words differently, but I didn't feel they were important words - for instance, you changed the emphasis to "the" in one line.
So, in short, if you'd done that it would be nearly on par with Adele. As is, it's just not quite there for me. :-)

I have also showed your music to a lot of my friends and family and we all think you have got a great voice, but a slight negative feedback was your constant belting. It is very powerful and quite exciting to listen to but it does eventually become too much if it is ongoing... it doesn't leave much room for the song to go anywhere. It's just nice to hear the gentler side sometimes. There is an intensity as well when singing softly.
This song is incredibly hard to sing but especially to portray. I think mainly the criticism you were receiving was due to the fact that since it is an emotionally internal song, to maintain the truth in it you probably shouldn't have showed all your thought processes and hand movements as you would when telling a story in musical theatre ...

I've been nothing BUT theatre for the past two decades of my life, and I'm taking time in my life right now to introduce myself to different genres, different techniques. I really don't understand why people would "dislike" this. I think it's so wonderful that you have the courage to be whatever you want, that you are carving out your own place and living the life you want to live--this referring to both the hair and the choice to leave musical theatre. Natalie, I'm so happy that you're following your dreams and going for a music career. You should follow your heart and do whatever makes you happy. That said, I was a little shocked when you first announced your decision to us - I mean, you changed your mind completely and so suddenly! Then again, it had been a while since you had made a video, but still. I agree with some of the others who are a little discouraged, but you should be able to follow your dreams, so I say go for it! =)
I'll be honest, there aren't many covers of songs that I prefer over the original versions. I can count them on one hand. But this is one of them. Your voice makes the song sound so much sadder than Adele's does.
If you can find someone to actually play the piano part for you, you could sell this on itunes.
when you sang musical theatre, i felt the emotion in every word you sang. but now...you hit all the notes, but it doesn't have the same connection. you sing this song as if it was a ballad in a musical, not a personal showing of emotion. i'm not sure how i feel about you changing your path so drastically :/
I love you. I have loved you since the first video. You inspired me. But I don't know how I feel about this video. I loved that you were natural and down to earth. But now you are changing. You are going mainstream.
Seriously people care way to much about things that is none of their business, if you don't like her voice don't watch the video, don't like her hair again don't watch the video. You complaining about things like that are not going to make Natalie change what she is doing or this new path she is on. She is still an incredibly talented young woman and by going a more mainstream route she can touch more people as she has touched several of us. Her changing her dream has nothing to do with yours.

There is no denying that you are an awesome singer.. but I do think your voice is better suited to musicals.. It is still visible in the way you sing your songs in an "actress" sort of way.. 'Too trained' as in she sounds like a broadway singer. The notes are all perfectly there but it seemed a bit rigid this time. I think Natalie is incredible and I love to watch her videos, and I don't always feel that way even when she's singing non-broadway music. I just particularly felt it on this video. I'm allowed to have an opinion and I gave it in a nice way so I don't know why it angered you so.

I really don't understand why people would "dislike" this. I think it's so wonderful that you have the courage to be whatever you want, that you are carving out your own place and living the life you want to live--this referring to both the hair and the choice to leave musical theatre. I think it's a little hard for musical theatre people (myself included) to imagine why anyone would ever want to leave it. But your voice is so beautiful and strong, no matter what you sing.

EVERYONE JUST STOp. PLEASE. She doesn't care what you say about her hair. it was her choice and she loves it and thats all that matters. and she doesnt wanna do musical theatre anymore...that makes her talented still. she is amazing and can pursue whatever she wants as a career and she certaintly isn't going to take peoples advice on a cover video! :)

you as always are an super excellent singer, one of the biggest talents singing wise for sure!... imo!... But... If I would critisize it I would say, dont think so much about singing perfect... now since you are so fucking good... you are.. REALLY.... you dont need to think so much about that, just sing and feel the song... I can see how much you in the beginning are so much in the mood for the song, but i can feel there is something, some control you have inside you... just... sing!

Natalie, I'm so happy that you're following your dreams and going for a music career. You should follow your heart and do whatever makes you happy. That said, I was a little shocked when you first announced your decision to us - I mean, you changed your mind completely and so suddenly! Then again, it had been a while since you had made a video, but still. I agree with some of the others who are a little discouraged, but you should be able to follow your dreams, so I say go for it! =)

I'll be honest, there aren't many covers of songs that I prefer over the original versions. I can count them on one hand. But this is one of them. Your voice makes the song sound so much sadder than Adele's does.
If you can find someone to actually play the piano part for you, you could sell this on itunes.

when you sang musical theatre, i felt the emotion in every word you sang. but now...you hit all the notes, but it doesn't have the same connection. you sing this song as if it was a ballad in a musical, not a personal showing of emotion. i'm not sure how i feel about you changing your path so drastically :/

Seriously people care way to much about things that is none of their business, if you don't like her voice don't watch the video, don't like her hair again don't watch the video. You complaining about things like that are not going to make Natalie change what she is doing or this new path she is on. She is still an incredibly talented young woman and by going a more mainstream route she can touch more people as she has touched several of us. Her changing her dream has nothing to do with yours.

There is no denying that you are an awesome singer.. but I do think your voice is better suited to musicals.. It is still visible in the way you sing your songs in an "actress" sort of way.. (if anyone gets me?) I think there is a difference between 'feeling what you are singing' and acting the emotions of what you are singing... (everyone should note that this is ONLY MY OPINION)

'Too trained' as in she sounds like a broadway singer. The notes are all perfectly there but it seemed a bit rigid this time. I think Natalie is incredible and I love to watch her videos, and I don't always feel that way even when she's singing non-broadway music. I just particularly felt it on this video. I'm allowed to have an opinion and I gave it in a nice way so I don't know why it angered you so.

ive been watching your videos since i was 10 and now im almost 14. i've always been involved with musical theatre and doing shows is basically all i do. you were such an inspiration to me, your talent is incredible. but you have a MUSICAL THEATRE voice, you sing with the kind of expression that needs to be ON THE STAGE! please, natalie, i don't want to have to un-sub, but changing is the WRONG choice. you are making a big mistake, broadway needs you.
