  • I want to give it a try but there isn't a dojo near where I live :^(

  • Screw Kendo i would do Kenjutsu

  • i bet our ancestors would be mad at us from seeing how are fights are so gay

  • I Wana Do Kendo!!!! xD

  • You did great, awesome job scoring the point, and to the person above who asked how to score a point, you score points when you strike you opponent, there are two types of strikes, body strikes, and head strikes.

  • I agree that you should get back into it. With some technical work you could easily get really good.

    Nice match, btw.

  • OMG! WTF is going on. Who's that loser? He sucks! Hey, are you the "Red" guy?

  • umm...did you win? I can't tell :P Really cool though.

  • not bad at all I mean the match was (white) Kote-ari (Red) Kote-ari, Men-ari

    so yeah.

  • That last men wasn't a point for the red guy. No way that hit.

    But that's shiai for you.

  • @quillaja i know i seen that.but nothing can be done now.

  • no offense but watching people in these matches makes me laugh!! ^.^

  • this looks like a fun sport

  • Nice foot work. You should pick it back up, you look like you could be good at it. Thanks for sharing.

  • Damn, I just realized, that I realy don't have any knowlenge of kendo. I even could not tell, when someone of you scored a point^^

But what I saw was you being pretty hectic. Your oponent was tying to maintain his position while you were like jumping around. I think, a bit more concentration and a cold mind would be good for you.

P.S. Sry for my awfull spelling.

  • for like the 10th time ... i'm not in kendo anymore! "hiatus" means that i put it on hold because i'm doing something else

  • @RoberttheWise can some one explain why they always end up kissing each other or holding hands instead off striking each other??

  • @ZerOwAffLeS For the same reason two boxers aren't always jabbing each other.

  • It wasn't bad all you need is practice and a better defense on your left side, I practice everyday and I have only lost 3 matches out of the 46 I have every done

  • that was close man really close. only if u blocked his muri u wouldve done like huri or something.

  • more movement is needed form the left hand. If you use the right hand to much the shinai becomes a club and not a sword.

  • nice matcch ;)

  • You both look very...stiff.

And especially you, white (right?), seems to be too stressed. Try to cool down, and wait for the opponent to make his first move.

Also, try katsugi. A very fun and effective technique. :P

  • well, like i said in my description, im not currently in kendo right now because i'm pursuing other things ... but i'll look into it

  • how would this fair against other sword styles???????

  • lol hay hate to be this guy, but it. "to many mind." lol sorry i have watched that movie like a few hundred times.

  • lol i hate that move the opponent does, when all they do is wait, so you think "i think i might get it!" then when you go for men, they get u with like kote uchi, kote men, and probably even just do, that kinda gets me mad, but you did good, damn you're better than me lol

  • it looks to me like your movements are too wild you should try and make them more definte though i'm not an expert and the only sword type class i took was fencing i think you work on making the moves flow like when swing down and the oppent blocks relaese your grip a little and turn it into a stab at the oppents chest.

  • you are agile, unlike me, but you don't try to anticipate your opponent... I am not agile at all but I don't need to move from my spot if I guard and hit... You aren't calm enough!

  • too much mind. Strike with the intention to kill... Just playin, dont know what im talking about. But i really want to take kendo.

  • lol "too much mind" ... got that line from the Last Samurai??? lol

  • i just started kendo. most fun ive ever had!

  • i never understood kendo well.. :(

  • I lol'd when the guy said "Nice head!"

  • lol, he said "nice hit" .. not "head" ... haha.

  • Too much right arm!

  • yeah ... and the fact that i was being lazy doesnt help ... haha

  • Wow, that's not very honorable of you to post two of the same video trying to make the winner look bad. You posted this same video, basically saying "I'm the one with the red flag, I cheated to win." How lame.

  • what? i never cheated to win ... and i posted this to get constructive criticism ... i even say in my description that i lost. im not ashamed of losing ... i know why i lost ... but i posted it anyways cuz even tho i lost, i felt like i did my best in this match.

  • oh and i'm fighting a different person in the other video ....

  • very nice indeed!, might i suggest baiting the attack, and use your senses to foresee his/her next attack. the use sensen nosen, to make to blow. =] just a friendly bit of advice from the neighborhood samurai

  • As Always, very nice combats... nasty circus with the guy shouting.

  • You can score with small but when i still be fighting in lower kyu. I think i get more ippons with big men and kote.

  • @Blueslad It's good to use big attacks sometimes because it can confuse the opponent and disrupt the timing they're used to.

  • Not bad at all! I assume this was mudansha division? I noticed that your left foot was twisted to the side rather than parallel with the right foot. Might want to work on that as well as pushing harder off of your left leg. Other than that, great spirit!

  • yes it is mudansha, and i never noticed my foot twisted before you said something, i will work on that and pushing with my left more .... thanks for the advice!

  • Nice match :)

Word of advice, train your okuri ashi and add more spirit to your attacks.

And yes hit bigger men and kote.

Oh and sorry for my bad english.

  • bigger men and kote during a tournament? i thought small men and kote is for tournament fighting and big men and kote are for testing .....

but i will work on that too, thanks!

  • Depends on who you're facing and the situation. If you know your opponent likes to do quick debana kote, use that to your advantage by raising your arms for a big men strike right when you know they're going to strike. They'll miss and you'll have just done perfect nuki-waza and their men will be yours for the taking. Small waza works in tournaments but you can't do them until you can do big movements really well so ask your sensei and sempai how to develop sharper and more controlled hits.
