I hope the Karenni getting jobs overseas will always remember their countrymen and send donations back to places like KSWDC (Karenni Social Welfare and Development Center) to help their people! Not to the NGOs who waste so much money on foreign workers, bureaucracy, and political red tape! They got enough money from big donors already. I hope Karenni people's donations will go directly to Karenni people and Karenni organizations and the Karenni army and Karenni churches.
Resettlement sure brought the population down! about 23,000 in 2007? I was in the KNRC office a couple of weeks ago & saw the pop. stats and it's below 17,000 now. I'm sure many more young guys will be coming soon though because of the new law requiring Burmese army service! What Karenni guy is going to join the Burmese army so they can use him to fight against his own people!!??? Or against the Karen!? Or anywhere!
Shar Reh - I loved this video! I am working with a really wonderful Karenni family in Buffalo, NY. They are the nicest people. Your video helped me understand more about where they came from!
