I got this gun for Christmas last year, and the first time I shot it, I scared myself. It was so loud the first couple shots, I thought it just had a lot of power. It does have a lot of power, but the sound dulled down after a couple shots. It's cool that someone else noticed :P

@AirsoftParrot I have one, you can buy it at Dicks and I think its close to $100, its a very powerful pellet gun for very cheap, it could definetly take out a cat, squirrel, rabbit, anything small, it could probably take out a good size dog in a couple of shots, not that I would shoot an animal but im just saying that to tell you how powerful it is

I have had the Gamo Big Cat 1200 and that was a very nice shooting gun once it was broken in as it appears all of these lower priced guns appear to like. bench it and shoot once at a peice of paper at the desired range i recomend 25 yards and then with out moving the gun at all set the scope so the crosshair is exactly on the hole in the paper then shoot again to check if its still off try again

@pfalco34 my favorite pellets are the beeman kodiak heavy... since they are heavier, they are more accurate to further ranges. I have dropped squirrels and robins from 60 yards :D

powerful springers will always burn some oil. Nature of the beast. I had a Quest 1000 which smoked a bit after every shot. Careful, might be some vaporized lead in those fumes lol. And of course, never dry-fire a springer. The pellet normally cushions the piston as it rockets forward and slows it down. Without a pellet, the piston slams to the end of its travel-range full-force. Also, springers need a loose hold. The trigger on the Quest and Storm XT aren't great. How is it on the G1? thx :]

yeah Im sure the trigger assembly is the same on the rifles. I was at Walmart last week and saw a Storm XT rifle box with a sticker that said "new improved trigger" I guess enough people complained lol. You can get used to it though. And after doing so you'll REALLY appreciate good triggers. For $100, they're great guns. They have the heft and look of real firearms. enjoy your G1

the reason breakbarrels sound so loud out-of-the-box is because they have protective oil applied in the bore, which combusts (burns) when you first fire the gun. Upon firing, the air that propels the pellet is compressed VERY fast and is extremely heated in the process...enough to burn the oil. After the gun stops combusting, clean the bore to get the burned residue out. NOTE: some oil will always burn, but it won't be sounding like a firearm. You'll still see smoke after most shots though.
