  • sadly they no longer do JATO take off demo's due to a very low supply of JATO rockets....too bad I never got to see a JATO demo

  • you think this is extreme? search for the YMC-130H. it was designed to take off and land inside of a soccer stadium.

  • and to add if you want to be technical the Marines are part of department of navy

  • Good old JATO pods

  • Ive seen many airshows and it is worthwhile to go see . I never got tired of seeing the aircraft . Pretty amazing stuff .

  • How much does this cost the taxpayer? Have they had any deaths or crashes related to this entertainment? I would like to recommend that they have a video of this to entertiain the crowd or have the crowd pay for the entertainment rather than the taxpayers paying for it.

  • @vanwahlgren You sound like a tight laced boring snore. Loosen up; we blow trillions on other countries for shit we never see. What's a few million bucks for some good old fashoned fun. Relax a bit brother. Life is short, and no one gets out alive.

  • @vanwahlgren if the tax payers have a problem with where their money is going, maybe they should go out and see the show :) these shows have their purpose (not dogging you, just saying.)

  • doing stupid thing and wasting money

  • lol backrond music is Mr. Cabdriver...

  • I know that the Air Force has the C-17 Globemaster but I would love to see the C-17 replace the C-130 as the support plane for the Blue Angels. Am I the only one who thinks that this would be totally awesome? They can still call it Fat Albert.

  • @chubbypekingnese Uh, Yeah! The newer variant of the C-130 is the "Super-J" and it will out perform the C-17 for its mission.. that is Cargo. The "J" has the stretch of the fuselage, fore and aft of the wing roots, also newly designed Turbo-Prop powerplants, and best of all, totally new cockpit, fully adorned with avionics package.. truly a beast of burden, since 1951 first flown. Excellance, par non.

  • Can any AC-130 take the same stress as Fat Albert or is that just because its special purpose?

  • @Orangebike666 C-130 you mean

  • @Izebullet yes sorry

  • @Orangebike666 Fat Albert is not an AC-130. That would be the ground attack variant of the C-130 cargo plane. The Blue Angels have more need for someone to carry equipment than to obliterate the airports they visit to put on shows, so an AC-130 would be a pretty useless support plane. :p That having been said, all C-130s and variants can be equipped with JATOs, but it's capable of some impressively short takeoffs even without them, so they're pretty much just for show.

  • @Orangebike666 idk but this isnt the first c130 to use rockets...look up operation credible sport

  • Beat that ARMY

  • @USMCsaveri97 lol

  • i love blue angles also the freking JATO rockets on the fat albert AWSOME!!!

  • i love fat albert they would come to seattle..

  • it should say on the side "Hey Hey Hey!"

  • To bad they arent doing any more JATO's. That was the best part of Fat Albert

  • The Marine Corps is a branch of the navy. That's why the blues have Marines flying fat albert. Read BangAndUrDead's comment below

  • Fat Albert is Bad ASS!

  • i've seen this firsthand and its very impressive to watch

  • Doing a "JATO" takeoff is a blast. I did about 4 of them with a Navy C-130 back in San Diego.

  • I rode on this twice in with the Jato rockets in 2001 and 2001. It was am amazing experience.

  • awsome

  • Lmfao That looks like fun I have to ask the pilots in our C-130's at Youngstown-Vienna 051 ARS Squadron for Civil Air Patrol to let us do that. I would definitely do that! Would be really intense though...

  • OOO-RAH!

  • HOORAH!

  • is that a after burner?

  • no, just extra power for a short take off.

  • ive seen the show and a warning if u ever see it Fat Albert ALWAYS COMES FROM BEHIND we see it in florida every year

  • the best

i've seen blue angels and thunderbirds and you guys take the top spot .

  • @philskelton1 Agreed. The Thunderbirds (Thunderchickens) don't come close.

  • saw it at the Reno Air Races this year. Holy Crap! It tokk of and immediately did a 75-80 degree pitch

  • @XxBillyGoatNinjaxX I know give a Navy pilot any plane, and they will do rolls with it.

  • Never cease to impress

  • I got to go inside Fat Albert and see the demo team (Blue Angels) for free in Pensacola.

  • @hutigg

ME TOO !! ! I was there in 2003 for tech school (NAS PENSACOLA)

  • @rushforce33 I love that place. I was there as a tourist because I'm too young to join the Navy, but my time will come when I'm 18. There's a family friend of ours that lives on the beach and every Sunday the Blue Angels fly right over their house on their way to NAS Pensacola.

  • nice plane...first pilot aint bad either ;)

  • WOAH!

    NOW THATS A PLANE!

  • hell yeah, 100% Marines operating that sucker

  • 0:08 Awesome! :D

  • I love the bleu angels i saw them on a open day of the army in the netherlands so cool sound from fat albert

  • Watching the Blue Angels fly live has to be one of my fondest childhood memories. Wish they would come to DC sometime.

  • damn. it must be sooooooooo fun flying 1 of those babies!!!!

  • Especially with those JATO units on there, sheeeeeeeeeeeeit! o0

  • fffsssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

  • IT IS dude, I mean I haven't flown the Blue Angels "Fat Albert" Haha that looks fun, but I actually flew in one yesterday since I signed up for Civil Air Patrol. Imagine riding in a passenger air craft, with propellers for one. That is the big thing in C-130's those propellers are deafening! You can't hear someone talking 2ft from you when the plane is in motion. We had to wear ear plugs and its a bumpy ride too XD

  • That is great footage.See the herc go when the rato went off and was he doing a loop in it?

  • Cool video. Are those booster rockets purely for show?

  • i got to see the blue angels live best thing i ever seen

  • We are a seperate branch from the Navy but we are under the dept. of the Navy

  • Why is "Fat Albert" flown by Marines and not the navy?

  • The Blue Angels are a joint command involving both Navy and Marine Corps elements - the C-130 is operated by the Marine Corps for the purpose of supporting the Team, and to provide the opening of the Blue Angels demonstration. Also note that there are two Marine Corps F/A-18 Hornet pilots performing in the six-jet demo now. Best regards!

  • @IncredibleWorldViews Try one Marine F/A-18 pilot, and normally one of the Solo Pilots (5 or 6).

  • Besides, the Marines are part of the Navy - not a separate service like the Army and Air Force.

  • @z122643 USMC is a division of the Navy

  • @z122643 Because the Marines rock.

  • @z122643 the c-130 is good for transporting troops

  • @z122643 BLUF - the Marines felt unloved and left out, so the Navy gave 'em Fat Albert.

  • I enojoyed the video. That plane is HUGE! I love the blue angels !
