  • she sucks!

  • @arougie so does your opinion! thank god i'm not like you

  • JESUS ALWAYS FORGIVES. AMEN

  • =\ I adored her when she was younger, but, this just doesn't seem right. She's too commercial, almost " Lookit Me!" It doesn't have the emotion the song requires.

  • Sounds pretty good to me. :)

  • she can do better than that

  • Ruined a great song.

  • Ezazy, What it lacks is she has destroyed the original beautiful melody.

  • hm...ive been a big fan of charlotte for a long time...i absolutely love her classical, but i literally had to turn this off. i wish she hadnt sold out.

  • 197 people dont understand Jazz style. that is all that Im going to say.

  • @SignsForHim or maybe they just don't like it?

  • Oh man, I usually like Charlotte Church, but she just screwed this one up.

  • i miss you singing classical song......thank you for delivering a very relaxing song......i love you

  • Juiiiraaaa!!!!

  • We missed you Charlotte! Please sing again...

  • Why is it every Charlotte Church video I see, people are hating on her? Am I missing something? I mean, other than the jealousy.

  • This was a horrible version.

  • thank you've ruined the song!!!

    horrible this voice

  • Breathy. No expression. Absolutely HORRIFIC!

  • Thank you, Charllotte. Thank you for this upld. I can remember CC sang for us at Ginza, Tokyo, at her 13!!!!!!

  • I knew it was going to be weird =/ the self conscious rugby references at the start were the first indication. i bet their relationship has the same weird atmosphere ^_^

  • I hate to say it and I hope I am wrong but I don't believe her voice is as good as it was.

I haven't heard a lot of her stuff, just Pie Jesu and a couple of other things she did as a child and then stuff she has done as an older performer. They don't even compare. The physical change of getting bigger plus not training hard, appears to have turned her into a more ordinary performer . . but maybe a happier person.

She was a spectacular singer as a child. Voice of an angel.

  • @ironpirites :She still has the voice of an angel, not to mention being one of the top ten most beautiful women in the world.

  • @jarhead4God I still think she is wonderful and I will always cherish her Pie Jesu.

  • @ironpirites Hard is the wrong word in my previous post. Smart might have been a better choice. I've heard more knowledgeable people than me say that she was singing material that was putting too much strain on her vocal cords before they had fully developed. She's a sweetheart and will be successful I'm sure in her musical career but I don't think she will reach the heights that she did in performances as a child. I hope I am wrong.

  • beautiful voice:) love the piano<3

  • Great Voice !

  • @deltamusic actually, if you took a little time to look into it before making silly comments like that, both beyonce and lady gaga can sing classically, and their voices are so not limited...

  • Her voice is like a piece of musical instrument . So she does sing like one.

It's her style of performance and showing of rare talent. Nothing wrong with that.

Somehow, It's not an emotional. She is a great singer no doubt about it.

But She is not a great performer. That's what's missing there.

  • saw you on graham norton in oz and Dame cathreine go Charlie! from your ozzie friends

  • i like she, its beautiful

  • FUCKING HORRIBLE!!!!

  • @SafeAzFuck please watch this performance; Charlotte Church sings for the Pope ...from Larry King Live and let me know if you still think that she is horrible...

  • @MRSSCARE14 i jus did watch it, .... and it was horrible XD

  • Hm, it is definitely lacking the idea of the usual version, but I must admit that I truly love the jazzy piano.... so.... The song is dead. Long live the song!

  • Sucks the big one. Someone should tell her that her voice has developed beyond that of a child and she should stop trying to sing like a child.

  • Lacks something . . . it's not supposed to be a 'pretty' song. It's a song of longing, wishing, hoping . . .

  • @ezazy she doesnt have soul thts all

  • I like Charlotte Churchs' classical voice.

  • Вот он - УРОВЕНЬ!!! Чисто, умничка!!!

  • i think she did a fine job, i like her breathyness.... thats just charlotte! she's extremely talented

  • ้she sounds so tired!

  • Her breathing is distracting, and this song doesn't show off her voice to the best effect. The jazzy piano accompaniment is lovely, though.

  • What an insult for this beautiful song.

She might be a good classical singer, but this performance is pathetic. She looks tired and exaggerates the notes too much. It's a sweet song, not a "look how high i sing".

  • She's is a FANTASTIC singer! I just don't think this is her best performance due to the song... :)

  • I believe that not any singer has equaled the definitive version by Judy Garland. She conveys all the hope and innocence that this beautiful song brings.

  • By all means, Charlotte, stick to opera music. That's where God placed you. You can move mountains with your opera voice.

  • Todos sonhamos com um arco-íris num lugar onde poderemos ir e sermos felizes...

  • she copied this from the late Eva Cassidy

  • She is terrible! No talent at all.

  • many thing are changed on charlotte and give me a disappointment . her voice is no more special. the voice is likely on the " american idol ".

  • this sounds like the way katherine mcphee sang it for american idol. I wonder who sang it first like this

  • @danielamyra3 Judy Garland and Katherine McPhee both sang it better, however Charlotte has sung other songs much better than this. Is she losing her voice? Is classical really that much different to sing than contemporary songs I remember hearing her sing other contemporary songs much better than this.

  • i wish performers would sing the awesome intro to this song,....yes it has one.

  • well she one of the wounders of the singing world so pleasez dont knock her it takes a lot of effort and skillz to do that toppsy stuff

  • This arangement is too low for her voice. She's use to singing at least 2 octives higher. She should not have changed the melody. I have heard better from her. I use to be a 1st soprano, not anymore. I'm more of a second alto. I could never hit the notes that she could sing.

  • I prefer it when they stick to the original melody. I usually like her voice but not too much on this one.

  • I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE IT xxxx <3

  • Beautiful voice, but a little too airey for me. It gives me a headache after listening for too long. :0

  • EUGH, not a fan of this interp.

  • oOOOoooo I like it. She put her own little spin on it. Good stuff!

  • Yikes. she is singing a certain style with the wrong part of her voice. After the first 60 seconds it gets monotonous and tiring. She needs to develop a chest voice before she can sing the way she's trying to here. OR she should change the song to suit her voice...

  • @MikeSings82 Yea, I know. I don't know why or why didn't someone tell her, that this was not good ! I mean I have heard better from her. This is the wrong arrangement for her. I know she could have done better with the right arrangement. I know there's got to be hundreds of arrangements to this song. She needs to stick with what she's good at. Don't get me wrong, I still love her singing, but not this one.

  • @SasyTequila I can't think of anything more difficult than crossing over from opera to pop. She has the tools, but she hasn't developed them enough yet. You literally have to start singing from scratch to do it.

  • She's a chav. She has a golden voice. Funny old world.

  • this is pretty, but i like the original melody better

  • Es patetico q se escuche de esa manera la respiración!!!!, fijense en : 1.47 .. es tremendo q Cante asi.. q le pasó a ésta chica?

  • wow...

=( it seems like she's not even the girl who sang classical music with Placido Domingo!

  • this did not do anything for me

  • wow this is great I never heard her full voice it amazes she can sing any style shes want too this was good shes has a soulful voice

  • Wow, Charlotte used to be able to belt out arias. I was not impressed.

  • I'll accept some relief from her!

  • jackie evancho sings this way better.

  • She's Changed so much!

  • bad

  • TOTAL AWUFUL ON THE greatest women in MOVIE USICALS THATS jUDY gARLAND LET IT REST WITH THE BEST HONEY. YOU SORRY VOICE HOLDS NON TO THE GREATS

  • shes fucking crap, the only reason she is famous (fuck know why) was because she was screwing a welsh rugby player who himself thought the sunshine came out of his ass

  • @thearmouredbunker she was famous WAY before she married him you idiot.

  • wow...she sounds terrible...proving with certainty...that she is neither a "classical" voice talent...nor can she sing jazz...this is a butcher job...yikes!!

  • @joshuaborg She strained her voice when she was younger. She used to have a beautiful voice.

  • @joshuaborg I wouldn't say terrible, it's better than her classical, but still lacking in a lot of aspects.

  • is that piano player really bald or is that a rubber cap

  • -- OMG, Charlotte, that was awful!

-- If you want to hear a really beautifully rendered version of this song that sings with the creativilty of Charlotte, but with an amazing peaceful clas, LISTEN TO THIS!

(I've played this at night to sleep to. Her voice is so tender & her rendition is sweet & dreamy.)

==> Eva Cassidy - Over the Rainbow [4.59] (YouTube ID = CasaLucita)

    watch?v=ccCnL8hArW8

  • nice voice

  • why didn't she start at the beginning of the song? it starts out at "Somewhere over the rainbow".... unless the version in the movie "The Wizard of Oz" had it all wrong.... ?? lol

  • She has a lovely voice. But for this song, nobody does it better than Jane Monheit. It's here on youtube; check it out. For Ms. Church, listen to her sing All Love can be, from the movie A Beautiful Mind.

  • @psiguynow

Yes I have just listened to Jane Monheit ,but we all like different so to me the best version is by the tragic Eva Cassidy,so much soul and meaning in her version and at the current 2,265062 views it would seem that she has a lot who like her version.

  • @lovemetu eva is amazing. think when other people try to change the tune they sound a bit flat at times and then you realise how skilled eva was because she never did. jane monheit , i have just discovered thanx to the discussion on this page . wow. blown away.

  • @nothingavailablehelp

To me Eva was a one off ,she sang from the soul and was also a very good guitar player.

Jane Monheit does not registar a blip with me ,she does not sing from the inner soul to me she is just a product of our times ,a pretty girl manufactured in a music school .Like many manufactured girl singers and girl groups etc .the main thing is to be very pretty with a good figure. The rest can be achieved by training.

Eva Cassidy achieved her fame with her voice !!

  • @psiguynow thankyou so much for introducing me to jane monheit . so like ella fitzgerald i thought. i was amazed. the duet with michael buble was so simmering with supressed passion . v clever

  • @psiguynow All Love Can Be is a beautiful piece of music. As for Jane Monheit, her version is good but I prefer Israel "IZ" Kamakawiwoʻole.

  • i dont understand why classical singers cant just sing the right notes -.- she's good though

  • bit painful on the ears.

  • Es la mejor voz que he oido en la vida, si la suerte fuera mucha le pediria que se casará conmigo. Que talento, Que belleza, se concentran en ella. Es la mejor. Simplemente la mejor!!!!!!!!!!!

  • hate hr#

  • Why isn't she singing opera anymore?? I prefer her as an opera singer, if she had an amazing voice back then I can't even imagine how good she would be now!

  • I love her bosoms too!

  • Though people diss her all the time- I give her that much she CAN sing! Vocally she's fantastic. Cant compare to girls aloud at all.

  • What this girl does to "Over the Rainbow" is an insult to such a beautifull song, to say the least. Let people who know how to sing this song do it right.

  • @jglaugtug1 she is singing it well, at least shes not myming like cheryl cole

  • @tigergibbs LOL!

  • First of all, this isn't her normal genre,

Secondly, she probably didn't get to rehearse this much because it was for Tsuami Relief...not like it was planned ahead.

Third, I think she did it the way she could, the best she could and maybe even improvised on stage.

Lastly, any knucklehead here making bad comments I challenge you to try to do better than that. There's a reason she's up there and you aren't. And it's easier to sit here and run your mouth than get up there and perform.

  • i can hear her breaths half way through words. i can sing this better than her. but that coud do with 17 hours of practise with the best.

  • @bethlou30 studios sound quality is bad as well as the recording itself, so be fair, microphone shouldnt be picking her breaths up

  • not very good, gasping for breath?

  • As she matured, I think her advisors told her that she would never be top talent in serious Classical and should therefore try pop music and operetta in the style of Sara Brightman and Jeanette MacDonald.

  • she was amazing with that song usually u citics that says it sounds like krap the only people that say that can never sing it better then her that was great song

  • Give Charlotte a break. It is very difficult to transition from classical to pop. But it can be done and I do believe she can eventually do it.

  • Rainbow should be associated with dio & blackmore...not this pap :)

  • it does not mean that her voice really sucks...she is still great but her voice doesn't fit in the pop way...she's more on the classics...there is a very big river between classical and pop...yeah...but she still has a nice voice...although she was not able to hit some notes properly..

  • wow no, that's bad O.o...That hurts!!! Even I can sing it better...and I'm not very selfconfident about my singing xD... she has better songs...

  • I agree!!! That was weak. That's what singing pop does to a classical voice though. That last note was one of the worst I've ever heard her sing. I wonder why she decided to sing pop?

  • i love her

  • sissel, you dumb idiots dont even know who is Judy Garland init?

  • I hope Charlotte continues her classical music recordings. God gave her a beautiful classical voice....not everyone gets that gift from above!

  • @deltamusic

look up her new song, call my name

  • @MrSkullface

With her voice, she can sing any style really well. Nothing wrong with a little variety. But I hope she still does classical. Can you imagine Lady Gaga or Beyonce trying to sing opera? They can't do it--their voices are limited. Charlotte has a rare gift. We want to hear her classical talent also--very much.

  • @deltamusic I think your opinion about Lady Gaga would change after you watch this.

    watch?v=NM51qOpwcIM

  • @deltamusic With her voice, she can t sing classical and opera. She s a good singer of Piano-bar.

This voice is limited for singing the great Opera arias (not like Maria callas Montserat Caballe etc....) but people have in general nothing to compared. When she sing operas or classical tunes or great standarts, it s just piano-bar, not too bad.. I prefere really Lady Gaga and Beyonce because they have strong personality not just pretty voice of Barbie.

  • watch?v=NM51qOpwcIM

    not so limited

  • Comment removed

  • @deltamusic Lady Gaga was actually classically trained in opera. Surprisingly a lot of artists have been, like John Legen and Alicia Keys. :]

  • She great and she's joking. HAHA! Joker!

  • ew....why is she using that pop voice???? She should sing it more naturally....but undoubtedly....another judy garland

  • @ 38herbert: I totally agree!! This version of Charlotte Church isn't bad, but Sissel's is much better!

  • I also thought the pianist is great~! :)

  • Very good but Sissel version 10 times better

  • Beautiful rendition of a beautiful song by a beautiful young woman...and the pianist was AWESOME!!!

  • @bornRaiseinUK1 Thank you so much for the LINK for Charice first time I heard her and I was blown away by her sweet and powerful voice for those who havent heard Charice you can start now and be amazed!

  • just type Charice - Somewhere Over the Rainbow (First Solo in America: BIG-E)

if you wanna hear her beautiful rendition

  • like the version from Charice latest craze in town

  • ouch not great

  • I thought this was good; it's no different than when musicians change around their song when they play them live. Plus, the accompanying part doesn' always have to sound the same, it's p[rob supposed to create a broader range of sound.

  • People only want to hear what is comfortable for your ears and forget that music is interpretation. Do not blame the Charlott, because each one does his part.

  • I thought she was amazing too Carly.

  • Why is everyone slating her? I thought she was amazing!!!! Id like to see all the people sayin shes awful try doin wot she does!

If she was sooooo crap how wud she b makin a livin out of it and how wud she have made the transition from opera to pop so easily!!!

  • she grow beautiful and talented....i want to hear her singing something rock and roll...

  • omg the pianist was fuckin abismal!!!! he really needs to learn how to accompany!!

  • Search You Tube for "Bish29" and listen to Becky Jane Taylor singing this song the way it should be sung..

  • Why is it that good singers feel compelled to turn a classic song upside down. This is too topsy turvy.

  • Either the sound is terrible or else she butchered this song....

  • shes hot :D !

  • she destroyed the song..

  • Prefers Eva version better but still good

  • she shouldn't sing certain songs..or learn to better control her range better..to pitchey..she destroyed this song..sorry

  • lol who are you Andrew Lloyd Webber ?

  • Thanks for sharing this video.

  • Comment removed

  • Still the same... she's always using falsetto, even at low range. I wanna hear her singing the naturally.

  • women don't have falsetto, it's called flageolet

  • How about calling it "head voice"? And the lower register is called "chest voice". No one should touch this song except Judy Garland.

  • I should hope others sing this song, otherwise we'd never hear the verse.

  • Sorry, "other verse"

  • Women have falsetto.

Flageolet is the whistling register, as partially done by Mariah Carey.

  • breathy.

  • very,, she needs to use her chest voice...

  • Listen to Eva Cassidy's version. I personally think it is the best. She really has a beautiful voice. I agree with michaelflorida48 that changes aren't always good. I hate this version although Charlotte could do a great job hitting the high notes.

  • Good, Katherine McPhee also has a good version, but I still like Judy Garland's version the best.

  • pitchy at best.

  • i like her voice feels like wind

  • like the singer, love the song but they always have to change the damn melody of the song and ruin it, it was hard to listen to this personally, so I stopped midway

  • Because the song is too well known and all people know well every note. So she tried to sing differently so we can't expect where she's going to go. Most people like unpredictable thing so she offers it. so do many singers. is this answered ur question?

  • *shrugs*

If you can do a better job then post a video of yourself singing. Good luck with the high notes.

  • can anybody tell me why everyone on Youtube is so damn NEGATIVE and critical?

  • Because they're miserable in their everyday lives? Plus internet tough guys grow balls because the person their hating on isn't there to punch them in the mouth.

  • Because they are bored people who are jealous, and cant think of anything better to do then criticise (spelling?) the successful ones

  • @imqtkd People enjoy being that way Critical, Judgmental, and Negative...what can you do?
