The bear community is a social group of gay men who are generally large and hairy -- thus, the name "bear." Men who call themselves "bears" are usually into some form of sadomasochism/bondage/domination as well.
I'm a full-time student, I don't really have that kind of time -- but I understand how frustrating it is to watch something in your second or third or fourth language (I was a language major.) I will see what I can do.
It really is sometimes difficult to understand. And sometimes my dictonary does not help at all. I am still trying to figure out what means to have grape punch around one's mouth.
LOL! No, we're not. That's the S&M (sadomasochism) and B&D (bondage & discipline) subcommunities of the so-called "Leather" fetish community. There's a *little* overlap, but not as much as you think.
p.s. I was the host of this event. Thanks for posting this clip! :-)
Ack, geez, I'm really sorry. I should have done some more research before I made that comment. I was basing my response solely off of a bear couple that I was friends with in ages past. Wikipedia is my friend . . .
P.S. You did a fantastic job hosting the panel. If you send me an e-mail (basbleugrrl (at) gmail (dot) com, I'll send you the few fuzzy pics that I got (though I'm sure you knew someone out in the audience with a waaaaay better camera than mine.)
Thanks for the nice words... although it seemed to me that Frakes, Gates & Spiner pretty much rolled right over my attempt to create a "talk show" atmosphere, entertaining the audience with their own little schtick... did you notice that Gates had her back turned to me for most of the interview? With time running out, I decided to "pop the Bear question" on Frakes to bring the focus of the interview back to the desk. I'm surprised he played with the question as much as he did.
Thank you, thank you , thank you...someone actually recorded a TNG guest panel for once! I've never been able to get to a convention before, so this is a real treat. Do you have any longer clips though? These are great, but too short!
This is it, sorry . . . I was shooting with my digital camera and a 2G memory card that already had 65 photos on it, and I needed to leave myself enough space for the rest of the weekend.
Man.. Frakes is so handsome and such a great actor.. nice guy too it seems.. would love to meet him one day. Thx for sharing this video.

Hi!
My mother tongue is Finnish.
It really is sometimes difficult to understand. And sometimes my dictonary does not help at all. I am still trying to figure out what means to have grape punch around one's mouth.
I understand if you are busy. I am a student too.

*chuckle* You're welcome.

What did Frakes ask Spiner for the "I had no idea" reaction?
agnesed 4 years ago
Frakes asked, "Did you know that about me?"
basbleugrrl 4 years ago
Oh I mean't the comment even before that comment, my hearing's a little wonky these days. :)

After the moderator says, "you're putting me on the spot here," Frakes replies, "The G spot. The bear community -- did you know that about me?"
