This song, I listened to on the radio in France Jazz Radio 96.2, the last night I was with my girlfriend. It was hard to go home back to the States on the next day because I heard the same song in a car radio at the train station!
What a great song i forgot just how wonderful this song was .i used to dance to this. along with dancing in the street .great times and happy days .northern soul music was the best times .brian
Not only an fantastic vocal from Martha, but an awesome production too. Johnny Bristol & H.B.Barnum nailed this...love the heartbeat when she sings "No One There"...very clever indeed. A truly beautiful piece of Soul.
Just a great tune.......I heard this last week when I was listening to Russ Winstanley on BBC Lancashire iplayer, he does a show every saturday teatime all northern soul just brilliant!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm going to have to find my signed copy of seeing them at the London Palladium..! I don't use the interenet a lot but I'm glad that other people care about similar music..!
My fave song ever.Love it so much. My hubby is the soulie in our house but I have been converted for the last 15 yrs since we met. oh what I missed out on in my youth. But make up for it now listening to all his cds. Have to play this one more than once though. thanks for posting.
Can you imagine how much stuff is still out there for us all to discover and enjoy ? Makes life worth living. Thanks for the comment, much appreciated.
Real Motown, Thanks for posting it. What a sad song. Just wish we could have oneromantic dance without the mass participation of our local soul nights in the West Mids. But hey ,look on the positive side at least they are still playing this 45 yrs later.Motown doesn't rock, It moves!!! Love light and peace Paul Beckett
Grown up with motown and soul since mid sixties and only heard this last year, but guess it must be one of greatest undiscovered hits of all time :) Unless of course you live in the NE of England in which case it is the last track they play every night at certain discos..allegedly..lol
Hi there davedashman, Think i must be like you, hadn't heard this tune until 2007.Haven't managed to get it on my 'phone yet .Will you keep trying. As earlier wtf is terry wogan, could he be irish? he'll get over that.He may not recover from being a piss taking sardonic tosser, but thats another Irish question
This is probably the most popular motown track played at my local soul night. Its gets lots of requests and fills the dancefloor everytime. A Motown gem !!
My pleasure. It was a UK release, recorded by Martha for the UK market back in 71. I am told she performs it regularly at her UK concerts to a great ovation. A fantastic track .
Yes, I really really do, went to a lot of trouble asking people where I could buy it a couple of years ago only to find I had it on a Motown CD already. duh............being a bit of a technophobe how do you know I have it in my faves???
Thanks for the comment, its a great track, never get tired of listening to it. Very envious of the fact you saw Martha do this live, but I can live with having the track, LOL
fantastic i can remeber this being issued as a solo single for martha in 73 even though it was from the brilliant black magic album prev issued i heard her sing this live 4 years ago!!
Thanks a lot. Almost 40 years old now this track, and I still play it regularly, quality always stands the test of time I guess. Many thanks for leaving a comment.
Just brilliant. Thanks for posting and sharing such a soulfull song.

@hullsoulboy I have the "Black Magic" CD from which this track comes from, and in MY opinion, this track should have been released as a single!
