I didn't even notice that. What the hell. Is youtube really going to go through all the videos that use copyrighted songs and take out the audio. Goodbye to half the videos on youtube.
im studying this book for AS levels...extroardinary novel. Hassans position and personality is simply adorable. He is full of pride and strength even after all he has gone through. Amir...matures eventually.
I`ve just finished rading the book a fiew houres ago and it moved me to tears. I don`t know about the movie(I can`t wait to see it) but the book is a must read.
for the parts that had subtitles i had to zoom in on the top part of the shot. that is why some of the shots seem to be weirdly close up or the people in it are cut off a little.
omg i love this book/movie! it was one the rare movies that did justice to the book =] i already read the book twice and am now reading it again for my english class i dont mind though i love it! =] and the other book by Hosseini "A Thousand Spenldid Suns" that one is just as good =D
I really think that this movie is a peace of crpa compared to the book. The movie has not half as much power as the book. The beating of Amir... in the book he uses steel bar knuckles and almost beat him to death...
I am from Afghanistan and I'm porud. It was an awsome free country then. Kids would jump off roofs and run around. Sometimes they wouldn't even know where they were going and didn't care. Much more free than America
since im starting to read this book i mihgt as well see the movie it was really sad and sick when the boy got rape..im really..i dont know wat to say PERIOD. The big guy is a bastard.
I've seen Afghani kids give beat downs to other kids like ghetto thugs in that country, and sometimes the other kids got right back up and dished out the same, so the beating hardly surprised me. But it was the rape scene I that disturbed me. God! That bigger kid was a born taliban!
No, I'd have to say whatever you meant about the rape scene went right over my head. Do you mean that this sort of thing happens more often than we'd expect? And you're not saying it because it's hurtful to those who do it, or those it's been done to? I've only seen scuffles in the streets from a Humvee turret. Our interpreter broke them up; chased the brats away.
Rape Seen i dont think that some one can rape another person in front of ppls i dont belive it but if u say so and by the way when u were watching this why didnt u stop it may be cuz they were pushtuns and they were muslims thats why may be u let that happened cuz u dont give a dam fuck about them or may be u were scared of getting out of ur hamvee may be thats wht it is am i right ?
The rape scene I'm talking about is the one in the movie. I didn't see any rapes when I was there. All I saw were kids fighting. And no, I wasn't scared to get out; I was ordered to stay in the turret in case we were attacked.
lawany007 this book is not against pushtuns juss because amir is a pushtun and he makes a mistake in the story doesnt mean Hosseini is against pushtuns. its just a book, get over the social/religious differences already
The bigger kid undoing his pants beforehand and the dripping blood on the snow afterward was sort of an indicator.
Hey, I recommend another book I read a few years ago called "The Bookseller of Kabul". I can't remember the author's name, but I think she was either Norwegian or Swedish. It's another eye opener.

@matnsas Hey matnsas, I was wondering If I could do something. @ganrella7908 i just finished the book. it is HEAVY material, very sad, and brutal...
there is some content which may be disturbing. But, the book is beautifully written, lyrical, and it's great... Khaled Hossieini is an amazing author.
he showed that Hazaras were oppressed people in Afghanistan but in wrong way! and most of all he's Shia and raised in Iran so what would be the topic of his book/movie??? u guys can guess it blindly
this movie was nothing!the writer just wanted attention and prais of WEST people who dont know the reality like many afghans living in foreign countries dont know, and he could get that through this movie showing talibans and stuff.
1> pashtun guys didnt/dont hate hazaras in afghanistan like they showed.
2> taliban? what the heck was the talib's role in this movie? just to show that they were homo-sexual?
taliban are/were the dark side of AFG's history but what they showed doesnt click
and also many people r asking if this is based on a real story..i dunt think it is but this stuff happened to many hazara people before. they get discriminated just because they are from a different part of afghanistan. when i went to afghanistan in the summer about 3 yrs ago..kids used to team up on little hazara kids making fun of them, hitting them.i felt so sorry. why is there a barrier between hazara's and the oder ppl of afghaistan. its realy sad to think about.
i think this is one of the best movies ever made althogh i only read the book. when i got to half of the book..there were so many things that made me cry. i dont read that many book but this is the only book i read till the end because it was so good. khalid hossieni did a great job on making this book. hats of to him
Just finished reading the book, absolutely sensational,Heartbreaking, Jaw Dropping, Smile raising but most of all the way you feel like you are in Amir's mind. Great Book
in the book the author describes hassans' smile as the most honest smile ever, hassan in the movie really does that smile justice- he makes the whole world smile with his smile:) such a sweetheart!
Blood dropping on snow made me almost lose my breath shocked watching the movie, haven't read the book yet but plan to, it was very sad and touching story. Felt very bad for Hassan.
No, it isn't a true story. When I first read the book I thought it was a memoir, but by the time I got to the end I thought "there is no way this could be true" - the plot was just too perfect (bumping into assef again, etc.). Plus the author is not named Amir. But, what can I say... I'm a little slow! :)
I bought the dvd 2 days ago and i have seen it about 10 times. Everytime i made me cry.I love the movie. One Of The Best i have ever seen. Great choise for the song! Great Video! Khalid Abdalla great & hot actor !
I have watched movies that have made me cry, but I literally sobbed during "The Kite Runner" which I watched for the first time yesterday. Even this video has brought me to tears! I never thought that a Goo Goo Dolls song would compliment such a brilliant film, but it is surprisingly effective. Well done my friend.
i cried when i watched this movie....i watched it yesterday. it was one of the saddes/best movies ever!!!! they boys who played amir and hassan were so cute and they were such good actors!!
if anything i dont hate any if the characters in the book...all amazing...amir, baba, ali, sohrab, rahim khan and mostly hassan...amir was just a child...he was only a human as was his father...
The book creates more suspense, read it. It's better than the movie, the movie was just a visual display of the book, which was well done, however, the suspense in the movie compared to the book is nothing.
The story is so moving. Nothing less. I cried when Amir said "for you a thousand times over" at the end... Though I hate Amir for what he had done, but at the end, well... I don't know. IT's just sad..
i felt soo bad for Hassan...he was such a good boy! he didnt deserve anything that came his way like the rape & worst of all his death! i also felt so bad 4 his son! He was a little slave & who knows how those men trated him! i cried through out this entire movie & i plan to read the book
Just know I finished reading the book and immediatly logged on find out more from this author. I don't have words to describe this moving novel. this trailer may be good but I won't watch the movie as chances where some might have over/under done it. People like hassan are a rare find and in some way I liked Rahim's scheme. I literally wept when I read the stonning in the stadium part. I pray even my worst enemy shouldn't face such a horrid thing.
I don't know why I love the book so much, it was sad all the time and when hussain died, I hated the book and I hated that khaled ''killed'' the nicest person in the book. I hated Hussain because he could be saved if he gave the house, he knew the taliban wolud take it anyway. Hussain didn't think about his familie. and that was the most sad in the hole book. still it's the most real book i have read..
when i read the book i was so angry at amir, how could he do what he did to hussain? It was to bad. I think khaled did the book too sad. it 1-2 months ago i read the book and still i same time think obout it and it makes me cry..
As soon as that truck entered the massive stadium, I had a feeling it was asef! When Amir met him again, in his home, and Asef took off his glasses I freaked out! His eyes were super scary. I can't believe Amir didn't come to Hassan's aid - that was so horrible and he was soo faithful to Amir, never gave up the kite or anything - I wish I was as good as that to my friends.
Wow, you did a fantastic job on the video! I burst into tears in the section of the movie when the guy who looks after the orphans tells the amir that he gave up everything to look after the children - how if he doesn't give one away one child they take ten! Hassan was so faithful to Amir, it made me think of how I should take nothing for granted! My heart dropped when Amir was told that Hassan was closer related to him than he thought! Certainly a water works movie, and an eye opener. CRY!!!
Everybody who loved the Kite Runner should get A thousand splendid suns--it was even better to me. I was unable to put it down and what I read stayed with me for a long time. It made me sad and angry at the same time.Angry because greed and hatred destroy what is so precious-life and love. The book left me in tears when I put it down since it so hard what those two women have to endure.
Intolerant people like you shouldn't post at all.Good everybody has the right to express his/her opinion but do you really think anybody gives a sh** about what you said?
The book is great in so many ways and the movie should capture the gist of it.
The rape is an important part in the book, thats why it appears in the movie as well.
you're a fucking idiot. maybe once you learn how to spell "sex" correctly can you have a say about this film. i mean shit, your profile name is pinkman. that right there proves you yourself wouldnt mind getting it up the ass.
the ending is for the most part the same but what happens in between Amir getting Sohrab from Assef and then going back to the US is missing. a.k.a. the adoption troubles. i read the book a while ago, so i may be a little off. the very end is the same though, the whole "a thousand times over" thing. hope i helped.
I know but I think it would have been too much to swallow for viewers most of whom won't read the book if the one who played Assef was a half German blue eyed blonde Assef who is fond of Nazi ideology as well as a staunch proponent of Pashtun superiority. It was easier to simply capture the sneakiness and twistedness that was associated with his character in the form of a pure Pashtun boy in a 2 hour film.

in the book the author describes hassans' smile as the most honest smile ever, hassan in the movie really does that smile justice- he makes the whole world smile with his smile:) such a sweetheart!

Blood dropping on snow made me almost lose my breath shocked watching the movie, haven't read the book yet but plan to, it was very sad and touching story. Felt very bad for Hassan.
WinstonKing 3 years ago
is it a true story? have all this happened or is it all made up?
freez56 3 years ago
No, it isn't a true story. When I first read the book I thought it was a memoir, but by the time I got to the end I thought "there is no way this could be true" - the plot was just too perfect (bumping into assef again, etc.). Plus the author is not named Amir. But, what can I say... I'm a little slow! :)

I have watched movies that have made me cry, but I literally sobbed during "The Kite Runner" which I watched for the first time yesterday. Even this video has brought me to tears! I never thought that a Goo Goo Dolls song would compliment such a brilliant film, but it is surprisingly effective. Well done my friend.

omg his little innocent and cute face just made me cry. i cant even read the book or watch the movie coz i know wots gonna happen!

I concur with adashi101..I've read it and seen the movie..the movie just doesn't compare.
It's a brilliant tale and maybe what makes it so tragic is how real it seems..

LoooveMusic 3 years ago
when i read the book i was so angry at amir, how could he do what he did to hussain? It was to bad. I think khaled did the book too sad. it 1-2 months ago i read the book and still i same time think obout it and it makes me cry..
LoooveMusic 3 years ago
As soon as that truck entered the massive stadium, I had a feeling it was asef! When Amir met him again, in his home, and Asef took off his glasses I freaked out! His eyes were super scary. I can't believe Amir didn't come to Hassan's aid - that was so horrible and he was soo faithful to Amir, never gave up the kite or anything - I wish I was as good as that to my friends.
CRY!!!
ushineJesus 3 years ago

The rape is an important part in the book, thats why it appears in the movie as well.

with out any spoilers is the ending in the movie the same as the ending in the book????
xcxcxcc 3 years ago
the ending is for the most part the same but what happens in between Amir getting Sohrab from Assef and then going back to the US is missing. a.k.a. the adoption troubles. i read the book a while ago, so i may be a little off. the very end is the same though, the whole "a thousand times over" thing. hope i helped.

Assef was different in the book! I really wanna see the movie. The book was just sooo sad but a brilliant read.
AyshG 3 years ago
I know but I think it would have been too much to swallow for viewers most of whom won't read the book if the one who played Assef was a half German blue eyed blonde Assef who is fond of Nazi ideology as well as a staunch proponent of Pashtun superiority. It was easier to simply capture the sneakiness and twistedness that was associated with his character in the form of a pure Pashtun boy in a 2 hour film.
