I can also still remember there was a second floor to the Purity we went to and it would creep me out to see the manager standing in the window just staring at the shoppers, lol.
We always went to the one in Plaistow, NH. My mother could walk out of there with half the store just from coupons, lol. They always doubled and tripled and had a bin of coupons outside the door.
Years later I found out it was American cheese, but when I was 3 I thought Purity was the only place in the world that had "cheese with the holes in it." It had a distinct taste I loved.
I worked at the purity supreme in brookline for 12 years.Left for dfw in 87.I have a lot of memories, especially the soft ball league games I coached and played in.Different world in the south. sr

When I was a kid (about ages 5-14) we would go to the PS at the Harborlight Mall on rare, rare occasion. We considered going there a treat since it was so umm..different, from Stop and Shop! The memories! I live in Ohio now but man, Boston has changed over the years, from what I saw last time I was there a year or so ago.
I'd been searching for the name of this supermarket for about a decade now. There used to be one in West Lebanon, NH across from Rich's (later Ames, now Kohl's). It's a Shaws now, and theres another Shaws a couple hundred yards down the road. The West Lebanon one was the only one I knew of existing at all. Only thing is the logo in this video is red, I feel like the Purity I am remembering had a green logo...maybe I'm wrong.
Those days seems like a long way away now... I live in crazy ass Southern California now...there was such warmth to those days as a kid on the North Shore...a simpler time. I had all but forgotten the name Purity Supreme until something reminded me of it the other day.
Oh my God. I never thought I'd find a video for PS on this Web site. Wow, that store reminds me SO MUCH of my childhood. WOW. I think there was one in Hudson, MA? I'm thinking that's the one I went to.
i hate business the big bad stop and flop taking over the small mom and pop purity supreme its ridicoulous how many changes we have all expericened inthe last 10-20yrs in the boston area from banks to supermarkets

My first job was for purity Supreme in 1993. I miss that place. It's a stop and shop now and it looks so different.

When I was in school we shopped at the rundown, falling down Purity on Harvard Street in Brookline. We called it Poverty Supreme.

yes, it is sad. I worked for Purity...it was a great company until Pathmark bought them. That was the beginning of the end.
