I really enjoy your videos and your knowledge of the outdoors. Maybe you are willing to try eating the backs (los lomos) of the frogs. I never ate them until this old man I ran into at the Rio Grande, told me about it. You cannot get much meat out of them but they sure are good to munch on and nibble on the bones tell they are clean.
We have an animal here called the nuitrea they want them gone dead all of them there was a bounty on them IDK if there still is but I am told they are great to eat. All they eat are veggies and the pelt is useful to those that wear fur. As for the frog legs we would slice them on the back use skinning pliers to rip the skin off that way you can use the body to grip onto while you pull in the other direction. There are jobs here but you seem to be well settled where you are.70769
the wayu clean frogs u loose a lot of meat how i do it is i pull all the frogs skinn off, then i cut his head off at that line of cartlidge right before his spine. then i cut the feet off (frount and back feet not legs) then i pull all of its guts out and split him down his stoumach. then u soak him in salt water and fry em up haha thats some good eatin.....hope this comment helps ya sincerely, colton essary
Great video, man! Loved it all. The snakes were completely awesome! Especially when the one venomed your lens. I was like; 'Whoa! His tongue was really black. I'd never seen one that close. I'm moving to Oklahoma (never been there), I was wondering if these snake are native to that State?
It's always fun times with John. I always enjoy catching the snakes for us to film. I hope this is one of many for us this year. I hope to keep the snake videos coming on both our Pages
Great vid, John. I thought I was seeing things for a second there when those legs were still twitching well after the killing and butchering process, crazy how that still happens with frogs, lizards and the like. Keep up the great work, Bro!
@medicjimr I'm in most of Johns videos. I'm usually behind the scenes. We both shoot videos then John combines them together. Usually when there is snakes I'm there. Its fun I go out as often as I can.
Glad to hear you see lots of horned toads. I heard they were becoming endangered because the fire ants were running the red ants out which is the toad's main source of food. They are the state reptile in Texas.
Enjoy your videos. Just a word. Hemolytic is dangerous condition. It causes the rbc's in the blood to start breaking down and that affects the blood being able to carry oxygen. Just a little info. Keep those good videos coming.
@edgybob1 Yes I know this......but it would take shit load of this venom to cause an issue. Research the snake, he even tagged me 9 or 10 times after the video. He doesn't have enough venom to harm humans just the prey he goes after. If he latched on and hung on for a day or two you might get an infection.
Hey John, it looked like your new Saguaro Survival Knife cut through those leg joints pretty easily. How did your double grind work overall for food processing? Most survival knife designs suck for food prep. Just wondering as I am looking for a better overall knife for my needs.
SIR, if you cut across the top of the back , old the head, take a pair of pliers or fish skiners & grab onto the skin you cut loose and pull down and skin both legs at one time...Cut it off at the back and cut the feet off, there is some meat on the back you lost and at the hip joints fry them that way and they will try to jump out of the pan....Mountainman
@mmlrc6atgmailcom yeah I wanted to get the video done.....it's a lot work filming these. And it was rounding 4 am. It was time to just get it done and it was fine.
@markshmily They are good. I just get laughed at because every time I pass one I have to chow down lol. It was kind of like a Mikey commercial. It also because I dont have any reservations about eating anything. If its edible Ill eat it lol.
yes it is! When is the knife you used in this video going to be up for sale? I'm not sure if you ever said or not but I like the knife and would love to test it myself!
you can eat their backs too if you wanted.. theres almost as much meat on their back as there is on one leg, so its like getting three legs per frog! Thats all about personal preference though.. Great video as always! Thanks for the time you took to produce it for us!
