First of all nice driving!! The 355 has a smaller naturally aspirated engine and is 8 years older than the Cobra. A more apples to apples comparison by age would be to a '04 360 Challenge car, or by displacement would be to a 458 Italia or by forced air induction to an F-40. There is no comparison on cost as Ferrari has not made a car under 50k since the 70's.

If you are being overtaken, you give the other a a point by and breathe the throttle so they can pass you quickly and safely. Failure to let someone pass can get you black flagged,

Mustangs look and sound great, but with small power from such large displacement *with supercharger in the SVT* and a poor quality interior and bad suspension characteristics make this a last choice for any real car enthusiast, unless its drag racing your into, or just posing.. i do love them though, great to modify.
Small power , man Cobras were Under rated at 390 HP, A STOCK Terminator will dyno about 380 WHP which is about 420 HP, But not only that those engines STOCK handle 600 WHP easy with fuel mods... Trust me because I know 3 of them that have been doing that for 2-3 years now... So poor power I HIGHLY doubt...

Yeah, there are a couple main factors that people forget. One is that GM has a strong presence in Europe in the form of Opel but the biggest one is that China is now the #1 largest new car market in the world and GM is very strong there.
The cobra has a larger motor AND a blower, not to mention more HP. Pretty hard to hang with the 355 on the track isn't it? I've owned both cars, 04 cobra and 98 355 F1, both are fast, but the Cobra is way faster in the 1/4. On the track the 355 can open up and accelerate quicker and handle the road better without any modifications or sacrificing suspesion or ride quality. we hit just over 150 at the end of the front strait. stock eaton w/ stock pulley. I had slicks, race pads and some cooling and safety mods... thats about it. I just sold the car a few weeks ago ;-( but i picked up a fully caged '94 cobra that I'll be racing in CMC. Hope to have some vids of that up soon.
@hiofcrcobra I can only imagine what this thing would do with a Whipple on it (at about 15 lbs of boost to keep the blower cool) and with a good brakes and suspension setup on it. I know this reminds me why I love my '04 Cobra!

im sure if a driver was just as comfortable driving both cars, he would put down much faster times in the 355. It has better brakes, hp/weight ratio, more balanced, and waaay better aero... Still fun to chase him in the cobra though! ;-)
fairly stock daily driver... brake ducts, track rotors/pads (brembo slotted/hawk blues) and tires (v710s), intake, exhaust, shifter and a few cooling and safety mods. stock pulley, stock motor, stock irs.
Right around stock weight, i put in a corbeau seat for the track but i also have an audio system in it (sub comes out) and harness bar that more than cover the weight savings from the seat.
Get some suspension, tune it, shave some pounds off viola. You can wizz through those turns and i bet you could go very close or even under 1:50 on that track. Looks like you are about high 1:50s? I couldn't really time it.
Mostly stock power and suspension at least. ;-) good call on the times... fast lap is a 1:58. 1:50 out there is insane fast (Porsche Cup Cars run 1:48s). Pulley, tune and coil-overs and I may hit 1:55s. Unfortunately the cobra's on the back burner right now, and it's still my daily driver... plus I'm prepping a '93 stang for CMC so all my $ is being thrown at her right now.
If I can get the '93 competitive in CMC, there may be a spot in AI or AIX for the cobra someday...
I am even more optimistic. Just imagine if you got in to those corners with more confidence. I think you can shave about 3-5 sec off your time. My bet is on the 5sec! Can't wait to see it though, keep us posted.

thanks man! I was pretty much full out in the cobra and the ferrari was prob at 9/10ths. I'm even more comfortable with the car and track now, so this may be an even better match today. I had a chance to play with him thoughout the weekend, I actually started the session behind him and he let me pass then stayed right on me for a few laps so I let him by.
reality check time - while you do drive the Cobra well, the Ferrari - or it's driver - was just cruisin. Your lap was around 2:02 which is not bad on street tires in a heavy car - my 315HP normally aspirated Mustang Cobra track car gets around TWS CW under 1:55 on Toyo RA-1s - the 355 Challenge can do well under 1:50 with a good driver at the helm :)

I haven't driven any ferraris, but by ALL acounts they are on another level for the driving experience.
Take a vette by comparison, doesn't feel that much more special than my stang, and the engine on the highway sounds exactly the same as a Ford econoline rental van. If that's the best N.A. has to offer, then i'll pass and try a ferrari.

ZR1 is awesome but what does Chevy have? Camaro which is ugly and plastic, Volt which is slow, ugly and 2 lil 2 late. Chevy should have went advanced diesel and hydrogen instead of persuing old tech. The cobra has a larger motor AND a blower, not to mention more HP. Pretty hard to hang with the 355 on the track isn't it? I've owned both cars, 04 cobra and 98 355 F1, both are fast, but the Cobra is way faster in the 1/4. On the track the 355 can open up and accelerate quicker and handle the road better without any modifications or sacrificing suspesion or ride quality. we hit just over 150 at the end of the front strait. stock eaton w/ stock pulley. I had slicks, race pads and some cooling and safety mods... thats about it. I just sold the car a few weeks ago ;-( but i picked up a fully caged '94 cobra that I'll be racing in CMC. Hope to have some vids of that up soon.

fairly stock daily driver... brake ducts, track rotors/pads (brembo slotted/hawk blues) and tires (v710s), intake, exhaust, shifter and a few cooling and safety mods. stock pulley, stock motor, stock irs.
Right around stock weight, i put in a corbeau seat for the track but i also have an audio system in it (sub comes out) and harness bar that more than cover the weight savings from the seat.

Mostly stock power and suspension at least. ;-) good call on the times... fast lap is a 1:58. 1:50 out there is insane fast (Porsche Cup Cars run 1:48s). Pulley, tune and coil-overs and I may hit 1:55s. Unfortunately the cobra's on the back burner right now, and it's still my daily driver... plus I'm prepping a '93 stang for CMC so all my $ is being thrown at her right now.
If I can get the '93 competitive in CMC, there may be a spot in AI or AIX for the cobra someday...

I had a chance to play with him thoughout the weekend, I actually started the session behind him and he let me pass then stayed right on me for a few laps so I let him by.

reality check time - while you do drive the Cobra well, the Ferrari - or it's driver - was just cruisin. Your lap was around 2:02 which is not bad on street tires in a heavy car - my 315HP normally aspirated Mustang Cobra track car gets around TWS CW under 1:55 on Toyo RA-1s - the 355 Challenge can do well under 1:50 with a good driver at the helm :)
