I went to a science fair competition yesterday and most of the kids there either had ipads or iPod Touch's. But, one of my friends had a Zune HD and showed me all the cool features- the HD Radio, pictures, videos, apps, and the really cool things it does with your music- most things iPod cant do. Now, I'm considering buying it to replace my Nano.
Comments below, even though the zune has features the touch still does not have? Really, come on fanboys. HD is better in so many ways, get real. (I'll be listening to my favorite deep tracks hd radio station now after wirelessly synching my podcasts and new album I just burned. Oh, can't do that on crapple, shocking!
First off, I have a friend who owns a Zune. It is in fact smaller than the Ipod, and the screen has visable pixles, unlike the Ipod. Plus, the Zune has screwes on the back of it. Attractive? Not at all. Although the Zune has an OLED display, it remains dimmer than the Ipod, even if you adjust the brightness settings.

Im a huge microsoft lover but honestly i own an itouch an from comparison to the zune hd, the itouch wins by far. The new os4 sucks, the internet browser freezes then shuts down and lots of apps freeze while in use. Still i love my ipod touch and apple did a hell of a job on it. Lots of apps and games make it worth every penny.

Heres another case of technical multitasking, Audiosurf. With Audiosurf you play a game and listen too music at the same time! :) Plus the fact that the NVIDIA Tegra powers the Zune HD graphics it just rips Macs ass to shreds.

Second, the zune's display is way too small, the ipod touch display is much more convenient when typing or doing other multi-touch things like games, maybe no oled but next model will have a retina which is stunning.
AND: there is no mp3 player with good audio quality on the market, neither will there be one in the next 50 years.

I know what you mean, I am a media junkie, having a lot of tech but what I am saying is I know many other junkies who prefer the itouch over the zune an others zune over the itouch, its just personal preference. the itouch helps me complete many tasks like email and document edditing (wich the zune doesn't have) as well as powerpoint edditing. its the obvious choice for me.

Finally got one when the 2nd gen came out. I loved it. SO easy to use amazing audio quality. supported my preferred lossless format. the Zune social is amazing. i met somebody with similar music tastes as me and we're relatively good online friend now chat with him every day over WL Messenger. I got my HD for Christmas and love it
if you want a touch mp3, id go with the zune. i wasnt too happy with my ipod touch. if you want the best mp3 player on the market, then go with the ipod classic 7th generation. you may want to wait for the 8th gen, i heard they're gonna make it with flash memory instead of a hardrive, which will make it even better. i wouldnt mind it to be a little skinnier, but thats a VERY minor complaint, considering how light it is (4.8-4.9 ounces), which is very light.

Replace the touch? I doubt that. The iPod title is a fad now, it's what's in style. You're almost as expected to be wearing a set of shoes as you are an iPod. Okay, maybe that's an exaggeration. The Zune supports all types of music formats. While the iPod only supports MP3 and MP4. I've noticed this because I couldn't get any songs in WMA format onto my iPod Touch. I like my iPod Touch, but from this it seems that the Zune HD is better. iPod has more apps, but they get old quick and since they drain ur battery quick, you won't play them for long. And yes! I hate the fact that I MUST USE iTunes for syncing my songs. It's so retarded! And I don't like the unsupported WMA

No. Apple just created one of the largest fads to touch the earth. They were the first to break out into the market after Walkmans. The iPods time will end. They aren't that good, and the only improvements since they came out has been astetics and capacity. iPods have horrible audio quality compared to the Zune HD i have sitting here.

no but it's development tools are free to download so you can make your own apps and even if they are not shared on Zune Marketplace you'll be able to get them from forums and the XNA site

The zune HD looks great I understand people love their ipods ( I have owned 3 Ipods) but I have also owned a Zune. Overall I would choose the Zune soley based on the Zune store which is vastly superior to itunes. I pay $15 a month for unlimited downloads while people with Ipods pay $1 for a song.
So I can download thousands of songs in a day while people with ipods can buy 15 songs for the same price.
It all comes down to opinion tho they are both nice products.
@sensishooter Thats not true the zune store is not vastly superior to itunes just because it has a subscription. The iTunes store has music that is not even in the zune store and I found that out the hard way when I wanted to buy an album off of zune marketplace. Also if you choose to cancel the subscription, you only keep 10 songs where as if you use iTunes the songs are bought forever. Both stores have their ups and downs, but I prefer iTunes.
the whole point of firmware updates is that it improves the over all quality of the device.and hackkers find theyre way around it. thats cause apple is stupid and makes theyre stuff for open development..so the hacks are easy.

@Supersmurf62 some things need to be mentioned. Apps are NOT gay, there are thousands of great apps, and if you think they are gay, give some arguments.
Second, the zune's display is way too small, the ipod touch display is much more convenient when typing or doing other multi-touch things like games, maybe no oled but next model will have a retina which is stunning.
AND: there is no mp3 player with good audio quality on the market, neither will there be one in the next 50 years.

And second of all we are talking about the devices that support iOS4 that provide these apps such as iphone and ipod touch, and are not Macs highest selling point which have nothing to do with this. Finally got one when the 2nd gen came out. I loved it. SO easy to use amazing audio quality. supported my preferred lossless format. the Zune social is amazing. i met somebody with similar music tastes as me and we're relatively good online friend now chat with him every day over WL Messenger. I got my HD for Christmas and love it

if you want a touch mp3, id go with the zune. i wasnt too happy with my ipod touch. if you want the best mp3 player on the market, then go with the ipod classic 7th generation. you may want to wait for the 8th gen, i heard they're gonna make it with flash memory instead of a hardrive, which will make it even better. i wouldnt mind it to be a little skinnier, but thats a VERY minor complaint, considering how light it is (4.8-4.9 ounces), which is very light.

Until Zune software supports multi file audio files, like Lossless, AIFF, AAC. Instead of just WAV's horrible quality. Then the Zune will be worth it.
Also i see alot of Zune fans pass the App store like it gets old after a while.....wtf, the things you get with an ipod touch like a browser, mail, youtube app, itunes wireless store, and all the apps. You definantly get your money's worth.

Replace the touch? I doubt that. The iPod title is a fad now, it's what's in style. You're almost as expected to be wearing a set of shoes as you are an iPod. Okay, maybe that's an exaggeration. The Zune looks great though I haven't used one yet. If I had a choice I'd chose Zune because of the zune pass (which I have). From what I've read and seen though, it seems that the iTouch can do far more then the Zune currently can. But then, the Zune is integrated with a lot of other Microsoft stuff...

The Zune supports all types of music formats. While the iPod only supports MP3 and MP4. I've noticed this because I couldn't get any songs in WMA format onto my iPod Touch. I like my iPod Touch, but from this it seems that the Zune HD is better. iPod has more apps, but they get old quick and since they drain ur battery quick, you won't play them for long. And yes! I hate the fact that I MUST USE iTunes for syncing my songs. It's so retarded! And I don't like the unsupported WMA

No. Apple just created one of the largest fads to touch the earth. They were the first to break out into the market after Walkmans. The iPods time will end. They aren't that good, and the only improvements since they came out has been astetics and capacity. iPods have horrible audio quality compared to the Zune HD i have sitting here.

The zune HD looks great I understand people love their ipods ( I have owned 3 Ipods) but I have also owned a Zune. Overall I would choose the Zune soley based on the Zune store which is vastly superior to itunes. I pay $15 a month for unlimited downloads while people with Ipods pay $1 for a song.
So I can download thousands of songs in a day while people with ipods can buy 15 songs for the same price.
It all comes down to opinion tho they are both nice products.

@sensishooter Thats not true the zune store is not vastly superior to itunes just because it has a subscription. The iTunes store has music that is not even in the zune store and I found that out the hard way when I wanted to buy an album off of zune marketplace. Also if you choose to cancel the subscription, you only keep 10 songs where as if you use iTunes the songs are bought forever. Both stores have their ups and downs, but I prefer iTunes.
