I use in multiple inboxes 3 views:

1. is:unread

2. is:starred

3. is:drafts

and from every block there shown last 9 rows.

They're not folders, they're labels. It can be confusing when people call them folders, because they do not act like folders (nor should they).

Otherwise, good suggestions. The multiple inboxes lab never appealed to me, but I had also never thought to use it to display starred e-mails. I'm going to try that out for the next week or so.
