@pizzacrime, the strange quality of the sound when she sings 'better' is because the 'b' is a percussive labial (i.e. using the lips) sound and she is holding the microphone so close to her mouth.

You can tell it's all natural sound because in the first few lines, she seems particularly nervous and does go slightly off key.

And others in the song too, as she holds and sustains any ending to a word she sings, I can plainly hear the very mild flange effect of auto-tuned -- which can be turned WAY up like Lil Wayne does with his voice (not hiding it) or turned to a minimum to HIDE the fact that the voice is auto-tuned, like Amy does in this song. It is ripping people off, lying to customers the ability of a singer's voice.

Charice gets more attention because her 'supporters' are the big ones (Oprah and David Foster.) She needed that support for sure because she faces more hurdles than other artists in the U.S. do, like being Asian, for a start. But that support wouldn't be there if these people did not recognize that she has a unique talent.
