  • Basically a good idea, would be even better if combined with square foot gardening guidelines for planting.

  • basically a pointless idea unless you keep the bottoms on the buckets and drill holes in them. Better yet use 2.5 gallon buckets and drill holes in the bottom. Leaving the bottom on would be more logical for transportation. Would seem awkward and difficult to transport without the bottoms. Use of cardboard as the bottom was a better and more organic suggestion then expensive plywood.

  • that's a dumb idea. tomatoes don't need this type of care.

  • If it is all about portability, then why not just leave the bottom on the second cylinder and just drill some drain holes? At least the bottom cylinder would not need to be watered as often and it keeps that piece out of the landfill.

  • @aandieq What you said worked very well for me last summer. My buckets never got dry and I only had to water them about once a week.
