The freedom thing was mainly an anime addition, as was much of the ending. Originally, he blew himself up due to his own treachery and Black Jack was in awe of what a good soldier he was.
But with the anime's added backstory, the ending makes more sense for Black Jack's character.
Otherwise, this episode carried much of the same spirit of the original manga. Incredible!

technically his skin is suppose to be like dark brown but because of the color inking back when Tezuka was alive wasn't that great, black jack's skin had to depicted as blue in his manga. I think this ova was inspired by the colors used back then, even though they could have just colored it brown like in BjTV
Theres nothing more for me to watch of Black Jack from here on out wish there was more!

Gaganoff character (looks) comes from Tatta in "Buddha", another masterpiece from Mr. Tezuka's work.
Name of Tattta's wife was Migaila in "Buddha". A nice renaming work to Miguela!

"The Boy Who Came from the Sky" came out before BJTV or BJ21. In the manga, that part of BJ's face is blue.
