well it depends on what you mean by 'parts'. by the end of this year, there will be 13 final fantasies. however, each one may have more than one game. like there is ffx, but then there is a sequel, ffx-2. for ffvii, there are like 3 or 4 different sequels/prequels. i now i'm not making much sense, but buy the ones from vi and up; those are the best!
