If only this movie is produced and directed by hollywood filmmakers, it surely shows that the man abused the wife, marry another, hit the kids and so on..

..but the fact is in this movie. it shows the reality on how muslims live in the middle east, they're poor but were truthful and respectful, and they are blessed with little things they have.

Perfect ending. The dad did NOT have money by chance... he had money because Ali made it happen, by helping him get that gardening job. So the moral is people should help one another, and in the end all will benefit.

I really wished I could see more.

But I guess that's real life, it never ends.

Be honest and kind to others, you will be treated the same by others.

And I love the society that people feel for each other and help each other out when they are in trouble.

How come you think it is bad? It's not...he did put a lot of effort in it to be third...but he did win...became number one; he won a life-lesson by putting something that is needed first (shoes for sister), no ,matter what place it is. He will get the reward, as well as his sister by being patient and understanding (forgiving and not telling parents): both will get the shoes from dad: he bought them (finally could affort). So be truthful, determined, honest, accepting; you'll get what you need!

That wasn't a real finishing up ending it should have been...imagine the school teachers coming home and praising him -making his parents feel proud, and then him revealing all he wanted was a shoe, and they laugh it off and explain the significance of what he won, and a shoe they could easily buy for him. That should have been it...

But they could NOT afford the shoes, that is the crux of the issue, here, and he and his sister know this, so they plot instead to problem solve on their own.

It's not an American story--it's a story about real and true poverty and children who want only simple material things--actually NEED simple material things.

If you look at the last shot, his father bought the sneakers the girl wanted in the beginning and even a new pair of white sneakers for Ali!

You can look at the fishes kissing Ali's feet as a way of healing, the way parents or some significant other will kiss a wound to "make it go away." The moral of this story is that if your intentions and the way you follow through are pure, then God, Allah, the Universe, however you wish to express it, will always give you what you want and need in abundance. Perserverance is key. This movie has many morals to teach everyone, and it accomplishes it with a very simple storyline! Do you not agree?

Ali is so innocent that he did not realize that becomming first in the race have higher reward ( I guess). The kid is not greedy for money reward or anything, it is only a pair of shoes that he wants for his younger sister. Great movie.
