  • not just saying this because im a red wings fan, this guy is freakin amazing ith the puck, he can control it unlike anything ive seen in such a long time

  • crosby did it at 16 years old lol in junior

  • was this recorded with a calculator?

  • that was shit he didnt do anything

  • I have watched a lot of hockey over the years and I have never seen anybody who has come close to Datsyuk when it comes to pure entertainment value. He does things on the ice that most players only do in practice. He is very creative with the puck.

  • datsyuk is the messi of futbol

  • @iggyman91 except datsyuk is so much better cus hockey is so much better than soccer. and i dont even like the red wings.

  • @iggyman91 hockey...

  • Next time it will be like Granlunds goal

  • i tryed this in a game and fanned on it :(. it was pretty embarassing. but i can do it, iv done it befor!!

  • I believe Gretzky did that before and hit the goalie in the back which ended up in a goal. Either way, great hockey sense. The usual "role player" hockey players will never understand.

  • Wow he flipped the puck over the net that's so amazing!! Except it's really not!!

  • @razorslice17 Just watch his other highlights...

  • @razorslice17 ever try it during a NHL game? Talking about the top caliber players in the world and he dangles them like they're pee-wee. Datsuk is the greatest stickhandling NHLer in history.

  • No he's not. Alexei Kovalev, Paul Kariya, Jaromir Jagr, Peter Forsberg, and Mario Lemieux were all better stick handlers. Kariya used to stickhandle through pylons blindfolded and when Kovalev was on his game there wasn't a player in the league who could take the puck away from him.

  • @razorslice17 Matter of opinion. Unfair thing about comparisons with older players is there's a lot more vids of the newer players. Forsberg was my favorite player when he was active, especially during his years with the Nordiques. Kovalev is top 10, Lemieux is probably the best overall player to ever play in the NHL. But if I had to pick one player as my playmaker, its Datsuk all day.

  • Picking a franchise playmaker is a different story. I admire Datsyuk for his two-way ability, there are maybe 1 or 2 playmaking centers I would pick over him.

  • @razorslice17 You're high on glue if you actually Kovalev or Kariya were ever anywhere in the same ball park as Datsyuk in stick/puckhandling. He'd undress 'em both and leave their jocks hanging in the rafters.

Lemieux and Jagr weren't as good either. They didn't have to be as good in their hayday of wide open offense. The game being played from such a defensive standpoint is the reason guys like Datsyuk are as good with stickhandling as they are.

  • What are you talking about? When Lemieux and Jagr played every team used the trap and defenders could hook and hold players all they wanted.

  • Unbelievable player but sometimes tryes way too much a solos, but he gets forgive bec he is so excellent in the defense too.

  • How did you record this with a potato?

  • I don't understand what's amazing or anything about that? He didn't make a goal or anything, he didn't even get the puck straight back for himself. Anyone can just throw the puck over the goal like that, what's so special?

  • Pavel Bure did something like that when he was with the Canucks. 1993-94 I believe.

  • i used to be able to do that move...then i took an arrow to the knee

  • baby ducklings for the win

  • Magic? That's skill son.

  • this guy could stickhandle inside a midgets portashitter....

  • Crosby, Best player. Datsyuk, Favorite player. Nuff said.

  • @KrawNasty HAAHA , datsyuk is WAY better then Crosby he just loves making plays while Crosby is a puck hitter

  • @TheBienpro Crosby is great but i hate him because he dives and whines, cant believe how long he was out with a concussion, what a bitch

  • @DarrylA95 Crosby is good but he's far from Datsyuk skils

  • @TheBienpro Totally

  • @DarrylA95 I guess the alternative was to keep playing and end up like Eric Lindros, but what a pussy....

  • @RWEAnimation The Oilers Have There Own Pavel Datsyuk.. (Ryan Nugent-Hopkins)

  • "What magic!" hahahahah

  • The people who say Datsyuk is the best in the world live in the western conference and don't see players in the east as often and vice versa for the Crosby fans... Just makes me LOL.

BTW best hands in the NHL is Kovalev but he's a huge slacker so who cares.

  • Datsyuk, the best player in hockey? lol... Right... I guess skating on the outside along the half boards makes you amazing and flicking the puck over the net... Didn't see a goal scored there, so he skates around and nothing happens wow. Go look up Crosby Spezza, that's results... Crosby comes back after a year out and he has 6 gp and 11 pts, Datsyuk has 24 gp and 23 pts... Crosby back checks just as hard. Crosby is the best fucking player in hockey today. Crosby Haters = Datsyuk Fans...

  • @oilers1go1 Sounds like you're a fanboy who doesn't know much about hockey.

  • @iiDetonation No, you sound like a fanboy who has nothing to dispute that Crosby fucking owns Datsyuk.

  • @oilers1go1 Really? Datsyuk has 4 Lady Byngs, 3 Selkes, 2 Cups and a Plus-Minus award. Crosby has 1 Hart, 1 Cup, 1 Art Ross, and 1 Mark Messier Leadership award. How can you act like Crosby is so much better? I never said Crosby wasn't good, he's stellar. You're just an ignorant, pathetic fanboy who knows nothing of hockey as I stated before. Crosby is a better scorer, Datsyuk is better defensively and they're both phenomenal play-makers. Shows your hockey knowledge there chap, or lack there of.

  • @iiDetonation And what did Datsuk do in his first 5 seasons in the NHL. Yeah, thats what I thought.

  • @tonytonz88 This has nothing to do with what we're debating. I never said Datsyuk has/will have a better career. The point I was making was Datsyuk isn't a terrible player like he was saying, any true hockey fan can admit who's good and who isn't, and not just fanboy over a team/player. Just because I'm a Wings fan, doesn't mean I think everyone else is trash, and it doesn't mean I think all Wings are the greatest ever. Re-read my post, I was distinguishing their playstyles through their awards.

  • @tonytonz88 He played under two lines that were full of Hall of Famer's......

  • @thelemonlite Yep, I know. But most people would still call him awful and say that is irrelevant, because most people from the internet are fanboys.

  • @iiDetonation

yeah remember that thing called the olympics... crosby kinda scored the golden goal

  • @roocho02 So that makes him automatically the greatest player of all time, because he scored a game-winning goal in the Olympics?

  • Comment removed

  • @Slahshz You serious, bro? What do you think I've been saying this whole time? Wish people would read my comments thoroughly. I'm one of the ones defending Datsyuk's play with all the Crosby fanboys acting like he's 10x better than Datsyuk.

  • @iiDetonation there completely different players. Crosby is a goal scorer. Datsyuk is a playmaker with sick dangles and snipes now you be the judge whos better crosby or datsyuk? personally i say datsyuk is more skilled but crosby is more of a goal scorer.

  • @Slahshz crosbys not a playmaker, are you serious??? Dude had 84 assists in his second season. Crosby only became more a goal score because he plays with fourth liners... they weren't burying the chances so he adjusted. When datsyuk goes from 30 to 50 goals, let me know.

  • @Stockey19 Not a question of how skilled the move is, just creativity.

  • Datsyuk and Ribeiro <3

  • why does datsyuk ever pass?

  • @LTrojanowski1 why does datsyuk pass? idfk... only thing it does is comfort the guy defending him. guy is pure filth.

  • Big Oilers Fan Here... I'm Always Scared When Pavel Touches The Puck... Haha

  • @maskwam I'm a Oil fan too. :D

  • Love how he trips the dude and no one sees...

  • zetterberg gives the puck away ...and guess what datsyuk gets it back again and pulls couple sick moves, it all to easy for him lol

  • Comming from a hawks fan this guy is the best talent in the NHL, he has everything you look for in a hockey player, great defense, AMAZING puck handeling skills, very fast i'd say he is the best 2 way player not only in the leauge but top 3 of all time hands down.Crosby and Ovechkin are great but this guy is the best in the leauge right now.

  • would be nice if it wasn't recorded with a toaster

  • You will never EVER find a greater stickhandler than Datsyuk. He can take on all five opposing players at once and embarass every single one.

  • datsyuk is somewhat decent at the game of hockey.

  • Omark did the same thing, even earlier!

  • @MultiJako7 whos your fav team now

  • A REALLY freakin awesome player... and that's coming from a COYOTES fan.

  • @MultiJako7 A bankrupt fan? ;) I kid, I kid.... No really.

  • @MultiJako7 wtf there are coyote fans?

  • Not the best player in the league, but very talented

  • There was no call on the tripping because it was incidental. The refs were right not to call it. Datsyuk has serious skill, but it only deflates your praise when you diss on other great players as way of example.

  • All attention for goalkeeper at 1.06-1.09. It's Datsyuk, baby.

  • Datsyuk is talented as hell but seriously that's not that impressive and I've definitely seen other players do that before, though not often.

  • @wugpot in the NHL Playoffs? Prob not. Datsyuk is the best player of the 21th century. He might not score 50 goals/season but no top forward works harder in the defensive zone.

  • he didnt even do anything. he gave the puck away and getting priased for it. a 7 year old could do this.

  • i personally am an ovie fan but datsyuk's got some sick skill

  • wheres the tripping call on pavel? at 1:14

  • wheres the tripping call on pavel?

  • For fucks sake. Why is it that 75% of the nhl video's i watch are recorded by monkeys on a netbook. learn to record/render. I'll find this play elsewhere so i can watch it at decent fps and not see choppy garbage

  • look at the angle at 0:56, you can see the other red wing player call for the flip. lol

  • This makes Crosby's crap look like kid stuff!

  • @MGSDude01 ya crosbys michigan moves lookxs like shit comparfed to datzuks flicking it over the net?

  • @MGSDude01 crosby has done that same move in the past. lol.

  • @Rodgerwilco91 When and how?

  • @MGSDude01 Only problem with saying that is, it's kid stuff to begin with.

  • @MGSDude01 lol i can pop a puck over the net too, does that mean i make crosby look like a kid? dumbass.... plus crosby scored from behind the net before he even made into the nhl

  • @4jane2man0 Look at the thumbs up count on my comment, plus have you ever tried a toe drag, and flip the biscuit top-shelf? Yeah, try that pisshead!

  • @MGSDude01 congrats 43 out of 95,000 people who watch this vid gave u a big ol thumbs up... and yes ive done that when i played ice hockey, in highschool, if you ever played ice hockey and had the slightest amount of skill youd be able to do it too

  • @4jane2man0 I play hockey myself and am able to pull off finesse moves, so looks like were even.

  • I don't think there's a person in the world that dislikes Datsyuk. What a player. And this is from a Canucks fan.

  • americans are so OTT, what the fuck is this? hahaha

  • aaaaaand tripping.

  • Doesn't matter if he does anything when the old stuff always works.

  • Give it to Pavel up the middle, and he will do the rest. =D

  • I hate to say this but Datsyuk wasn't the first to do this. Pavel Bure had done this before and he actually successfully went around the net to try to bang it in before the puck even hit the ground.

  • @Lightsydephil "I've never seen anybody in the NHL do that in a playoff game"

  • @LocoGroove Ok and?

  • @Lightsydephil And...no one said Pavel is the first guy to do this. But he certainly is the first guy to do it in a playoff game. Mmkay? No need to argue >_>

  • Did anyone see the pro Duck knock it away in mid air?

  • Anyone see Datsyuk trip #34 Neidermeyer? Guess not. I hate Star Eyed refs blind to cheep shots made my star players. Datsyuk is a great puck handler, but he can play dirty sometimes. Just like the rest of the Red Wings. Ref's are supposed to be non-biased.

  • @JaySharp604 this was one of the more embarrassing displays of stupidity by neidermeyer. they guy is great when he is winning, but a stick touches him and he acts like a truck ran him over. I can't believe he didn't get suspended for any of the elbows he threw, particularly after the whistles. as for calling tripping on this play, you have no grasp on what didn't get called in this series. if they called everything, the ducks would never have 5 players on the ice.

  • @JaySharp604 yeah he plays so dirty he has 3 lady bings, shit happens from time to time and that was no way intentional, if the refs are biased for detroit, why has detroit had more goals dissalowed than any other team in the league?

  • Comment removed

  • as dope as that was by datsyuk, beauchemin never gets any credit for knocking that out of the air.. also pretty hard to do in that situation

  • @walfgong good to see someone recognize a defensive play as well. they're rarely the plays that make highlight reels. i am a wings fan down to the core but that also means that i know just how hard it is to defend datsyuk and this is a solid defensive play

  • @thewhitewhale11 you wanna see another example of a defensive play, check out how after zetterberg throws the puck right to the anaheim forward, pav gets it back once again, and then completely fakes him out to retain possession.. the man is a god, some of the best hands in the league, and an incredible two way player as well.

  • no shots on goal, terrible. plus i've seen that before anyway, nothing new

  • That's not even hard to do.

  • Why was that not called for a highstick on Anaheim?

  • How old is datsyuk now?

  • i did that once in a game,i was like *hmmmmm*.haha.didnt look as good as Pavel's OBVIOUSLY

  • 40+ seconds in the ducks zone and 0 shots on goal. well done.

  • I'm not trying to say this wasn't a "beauty" of a play, but you can see he clearly trips #34 after he is skating away from the net by hooking is stick around is lag.

  • would of been great if he banked it off the goalie's back and scored

  • whose ovechkin ?

  • datsyuk the only person that i trust making creative plays. I don't get nervous when hes on the ice

  • even if some red wing batted it in..it would be disallowed cause of highstick....dang man, nhl removed all the nice crazy stuff that used to make hockey so much more interesting

  • should have been a high stick call when the duck touched the puck, fail

  • @blinkjagr

It would have been legal. The stick would have been below the crossbar.

  • @BalsamicPork lol are serious?

  • @blinkjagr

A high stick is when your stick is above the crossbar or above the shoulders. The ducks player didn't even have his stick above the cross bar when he hit it.

  • only Datysuk would have the balls to try something like this in a playoff game

  • no clue who 34 is on anahiem, dont care, but how does he fall over... a stick in the leg perhaps?

  • Goals are scores with tricks winning games so tricks win games

  • how is this HD ?

  • @33followyourdreams HD doesn't mean good picture. It is simply just a format.

  • @lpncubs3 not trying to be funny asking a question what do you mean by format?

  • look at #34, is he looking for a penalty call on datsyuk? just asking...

  • More like PIXEL datsyuk

  • this guy is a whole new definition of creativity.

  • best player in the nhl hands down

  • amazing, imagine if a goal was scored next

  • amazing, imagine if a goal was scored next

  • crosby? ovechkin? heeeeelloooooooo people datsyuk is obviously the best

  • Mike Richards did the same thing vs buffalo and it actually worked... nice try.

  • i never understand whats amazing about this??? every body in nhl can flip the puck over the goal. if he at battede it in on the other side, then it would be something to talk about. anyway hes a great player

  • This is why I love the Detroit Red Wings, they have amazing player and puck movement. Watch it again, look how they're all constantly moving, getting into open spaces, making options available. I love these guys.

  • @TheNickGratton And most of them at ages 10+ years older than their competitors.

  • Wow he probably would have scored too if it wasen't for the Washington player getting in his way...

  • pavel datsyuk hhof

  • Datsyuks balls are the size of fucking hockey pucks

  • too bad doing tricks with the puck doesnt win hockey games

  • @realhardheaded Well... in most cases.

He damn near made something of nothing right there.

  • @realhardheaded Who says it doesn't?

  • @realhardheaded Apparently it won him two cup rings.

  • @realhardheaded It won him three consecutive Selke trophies, four consecutive Lady Byng trophies, three conference championships, two consecutive 97-point seasons, two Stanley Cup rings... yeah, why don't you shut the fuck up little boy?

  • @rebelslayer13 sorry, datsyuks mom

  • now DATS how it's done !!! LOVE IT !!

  • imagen getting an assist by doing that!!

  • you can almost call that tripping.

  • why is this amazing? anybody who's played street hockey has done this millions of times. still, he's a great player. it's just that this was hardly a highlight reel.

  • @tweeko86

well, for starters youre comparing YOU playing STREET HOCKEY to a professional hockey player doing this in a playoff match.

id say theres a tad bit of a difference

  • @rantanen1 not really. if given the chance, anybody could have done this from behind the net. he didn't even score.

  • @tweeko86 how many times in an NHL game do you see a player have that much space behind the opponent's goal? a lot of ppl could do the same move true, but he hardly comes to a stop and already has an opening scoped out by the time he gets behind the net. the only guy paying attention, was the guy that pushed him away as he came back around. if not for that, that puck may have ended up in the back of the net. this is just pav being pav and creating something from nothing. heads up play.

  • @tweeko86 uhh you use a different puck in street hockey. so it would be easier...

  • best hands in the nhl.

He didn't score here though. Hardly a 'shift for the ages'

  • @MARINESON11 maybe u should stop counting practice and warm up goals

  • Weird...my two favourite players ever are both named Pavel.

  • @acdcrocks1000 who is the one not named datsyuk? bure?

  • power play was over by the way xD

  • I made the flip like he did and one from my team scores while it was in the air

  • So this guy's amazing because he flipped the puck over the net? Literally anyone can do that.

  • @razorslice17 you fucking retard. show me one player who has ever flipped the puck over the net. no better yet, to give you an advantage TELL me one player to do this. because you cant. we arent admiring him for his ability to flip it over the net. we admire him because of his creativity. you fucking dumbass.

  • @cousins851 what creative play?? the guy turned the puck over!! nothing creativ about that u fucking retard

  • @jrronn87 do u know what a turn over is? they kept possesion of the puck after he did that u fucking retard

  • @jrronn87 you sound dumb

  • who gives a fuck about the OH LOOK I CAN HANDLE THE PUCK BECAUSE I HAVE NO LIFE i play triple A hockey and i have 87 goals this season and i haven't juked a single person out

  • @MARINESON11 Triple A and the NHL are two totally different leagues dumbass. I scored 100 goals in NHL with my be a pro player... I guess I can go into the NHL now. No one says you have to juke people to score goals, Pavel just does it that way and look at the entertainment it provides. Everyone knows you had to click on the video because you probably wanted to learn a new move to teach your 'Triple A' buddies.

  • @MARINESON11 Maybe you should stop playing AAA house hockey.

  • @MARINESON11

buddy says 87 goals cause his favourite player wears that number on his sweater.... if you do not have the talent to dangle you do not play AAA hockey you fucking plug go tape your ankles some more bender get fucked

  • @81mgm Did you really just say that to play in AAA you have to be able to dangle? i don't see lidstrom dangle? i don't see half the players in the nhl dangle anyone all game so stop being a troll and gtfo. dekes and dangles are always good but thats not how your going to get scouted. you need to play an all around game.

  • @Th3R34LR47

anyone that plays high caliber hockey, including AAA, has the ability to dangle you stupid fuck. you need to have superior puck handling skills to maintain puck possession. fucking george parros could dangle if he really wanted to.

  • who cares if you can score goals, pavel makes the game way more interesting...

  • I know how to do that too. But it takes balls to do it on a playoff game!

  • I JUST CAME

  • Honestly any player can do that. These commentators are way to impressed. 15 year old kids can do that.

  • @Sinco1967 15 year old kids can do that in the NHL? Yeah...

  • @CseRoQ ye most likely. Look at the time and space pavel had. If a 15 year old had that much space and could play hockey he can do that no problem. Flip the puck big deal.

  • @Sinco1967 has anyone one tried it BEFORE.........and have those 15 even made it to the NHL

  • @MichiganHockey95 ok all im saying is that any player in the NHL can do that.
