  • sumone help!!!! cant decide between motorola droid or nexus one!?!

  • which is best the iphone 3gs, motorola droid 2 , or the nexus one PLEASE HELP ME DECIDE THXS !!! :D

  • 100$!?!?! just get into sprint and get htc shift (or whatever you want)!! its only 60$ a month for the same as tmobile

  • hey i found out how to hack wifi passwords with an android phone! iwifihack (dot) net is a MUST SEE

  • picked a brand new nexus one on craigslist and im loving it on 2.2.1. gonna leave it stock for awhile because im still getting used to the awesome droid. Coming from iphone btw

  • i OWNED a droid or motorola milestone because i have at&t and theyre phones suck. from what i can tell the nexus is a little better with processor and resolution. i loved my droid though but i ran into the ocean with it in my pocket. so now im going to get the nexus one because of the flash player on 2.2 froyo!

  • my nexus one gives me funny headaches im selling it on craigslist now

  • driod has 2.1 now

  • @ooost16l Edit: Droid has 2.2 now

  • great review!!

  • ppl ppll arent phones ment to call?

  • @fuadali16 nope nobody cares about the calling, its the facebook and twitter thats the thing right now. lol internet, but not calling

  • i like both of the phones but i like the fact the droid has three ways to type something which is better because u have more choices than two and also because the droid is pretty thin for a slider phone

  • they are both great phones i have to go with the droid

  • i guess most of his complaints abotu the droid have been rectified with the 2.1 update huh

  • when gaming the droid is actually better cause the snapdragon chipset GPU sucks

while the droid uses Powervr (same as iphone) so in gaming the droid will be better

  • I'm kind of looking forward to the HTC Incredible... I know its off topic but it sounds pretty exciting.

  • @Trashjack101 Not really, Nexus One and HTC incredible are in fact related only few minor difference, but 8 MP camera, a little bit more ram, casing, and I think it will have Sense UI, which is a mistake!

  • @jj4life24 their speeds are different becouse verizon is faster than tmobile!

  • so the nexus one is faster while the nexus one was loading 1 page the droid loaded 2 pages yeah so thats pretty fast huh?

  • @jj4life24 it was over wifi man, one of the phones lost a packet or two, quite normal even for full computers

  • I am personally happy as hell with my Droid overclocked to 1GHZ and rooted 2.1 OTA with the clockworkMod Laucher 2 but I would still buy the Nexus One if it for sure comes to Verizon but I hate the goofy trackball and no keyboard...

  • I feel like this focuses too much on Android 2.0 vs 2.1 and not phone vs phone. As Verizon is rolling 2.1 out to Droids that negates much of the comparison.

  • @grigas Yes but Google will most likely release updates much faster on the Nexus One. Google plans to make people concentrate on this mobile more that the Motorola Droid.

  • @nextstep333 Yes, but that wasn't the point I was making. The point I was making was that this video in particular concentrates more on the differences between the OS versions than anything else, when the only major differences between the phones are the physical keyboard and overall form factor, and the CPU speed.

  • @salsachi1 its the brightness setting

  • You said they might get out the update that fixes pinch-to-zoom soon, but you got the option on the droid minutes earlier >.>

  • You're talking about how things aren't available on the android 2.0 os, then when you get the option to update to 2.1, you deny it. Hmm...

    A CONSPIRACY I SAY!

  • whts better the pre plus or n900 or nexus one ??

  • @brawlpro1 NEXUS ONE BY FAAAAR!!! ANDROID ALL THE WAY!!!

  • It's weird that he set all his screens up exactly like me...

  • why would u compare two Android phones?? theyre the same! only Nexus is wayyyyy faster!! i love the nexus, i would choose that over the droid, but theyre both Android phones! u cant compare against your brother!!

  • verizon says the Nexus One is not coming March 23rd. They dont know when it is.

  • droid sucks haha

  • biggest problem is the memory 16gb in droid and 4 in nexus one. But i could always get another memory card. HMMMMM??????

  • yep. you can always get another one. they have them up to 32gb i think.

  • the nexus one is coming to verizon march 23 so wont have to wait to long

  • Why does this idiot have the DROID reviewed with 2.0 when ive had 2.1 since decemeber on my droid

  • @sharky7337 guy calm ur freakin self down......................how to uu know that he got the update?.......so unless ur sure he got it dont say nothin

  • You have 2.0.1 on your droid. Ironically the system up date that comes up on the droid in the video is the update for 2.0.1. Droid users are hopefully getting 2.1 soon. I have a feeling it'll coincide with the Verizon Nexus One release or at least be close to the same time frame.

  • I'd rather have the N1.

  • At like 3:50 the Nexus One fails.

  • You like more the google nexus one and you did your best to show that

  • Well, with Droid being the future and top dog for Verizon, and it's sales numbers being what they are to the Nexus One, my money is on the Droid. Yeah, the Nexus One is coming to Verizon, yet it was a stupid decision by Google to go with T-Mobile, and advertising wise, Verizon is sinking its money into the Droid. Google would be smart to go along with Verizon and just focus on making the Droid the true iPhone killer it can be. Nexus One just seems to be overkill.

  • I can't say anything about the Motorola Droid, but...I got my Nexus and it's amazing..but if you've previously used iPhone, it takes a little bit getting used to this Nex device.

  • i cant choose and i hate to wait for nexus one

  • when you buy a phone from best buy mobile do u need a contract to buy it?

  • I spent 30 min rooting my Motorola & it does everything the NEXUS does..I can overclock to 1.2ghz, which is just as fast as the NEXUS, live wallpapers, 5 home screens, ability to tether, etc...the only thing I don't like about the droid is the slide out but with the speech to text and other updated programs i dont ever use the keyboard. I use the screen keyboard.

After everything i've read and experienced after rooting the droid, its 95% identical. The only difference is the design of the phone.

  • how much does overclocking affect battery life?

  • Depends. I have my phone overclocked at a low voltage with set profiles (specific CPU speeds depending on the state of the phone- asleep, charging, low battery, etc.) and it actually extends my battery life quite a bit even though it's overclocked and running much faster.

  • @Ian121682 You know what I wonder? How much the N1 will be overclocked... I mean, if the Droid can get from 550MHz to 1.2Ghz (which is stupid btw because it's less efficient at that speed) I wonder how much the N1 can be OC'd...

  • The battery life really wasnt effected negatively..there is another APP (SetCPU) that lets me set the min/max speed based on activity of the phone(sleeping/standby, charging, etc), battery life and battery temp. When I first got the phone I was lucky to have it last 1 day with all the stuff I have on it...after I rooted it, I go to work at 530a and work a 10-12 hr and by 10 or 11p its in the "red"..so its improved a little

  • vonfeldt7- explain to me how something is LESS efficient when its ability to "process" info and react is doubled?

  • Not as much as the Droid.

  • i have a iphone 3gs and i want to get the best phone out there can someone tell me what i should get because the new iphone is coming in june which should i ge t

  • either motorola droid or nexus one

  • @jayry55 wat... no im not ...who do u think u are? u cant just come online and call somone an idiot. u sir are the idiot because im right i did get the update online . and its really easy. i know ure angry because u want 2.1 but thats not might fault. so screw off u prick and go be an asshole to someone else.....

  • you are an idiot

  • I have a Moto DROID with Verizon and have the unlimited data and messaging and its around $78-$82 a month.

  • This is such a bullshit. the nexus one didnt even load the page on wifi. wtf. how can you say the processor is better if it cant even load a page on wifi. moto droid FTW. htc is a generic fucking nockoff phone company. snapdragon isn't any faster than the droid's processor. and you can download android 2.1 off the internet for free for the droid. my friend did it, and im about to do it. so fuck nexus one. droid is the best smartphone still.

  • Calm down dude, I as a fellow DROID owner love my DROID but I'm not going to go cussin out another phone. Thats hilarious your acting like it's your mom or something and you have to protect her. It's a phone and deal with it a phone get's outdated very very fast. Just think what we thought of the Razor just a few years back. Now my DROID is just as thin as it and look at the difference, so get off your period and accept that our phone is now no longer king of Android.

  • @GoodrichMartian actully it still is the king ....

  • are the back, home, menu, and search buttons better on the droid or nexus one?

it seems more responsive on the droid

droid eris seems to have the same problem as the nexus one and they are both made my htc

maybe htc isn't god at making those kinds of buttons

  • that's dumb to say nexus one is better because of 2.1 when droid is getting it real soon

  • Not exactly, Droid will be getting an incomplete version of 2.1 as reported by many websites. So it still won't be the same.

  • droid will be getting 2.1

just because it is incomplete doesn't change the firmware

and the live wallpapers won't be there, big woop

    i wouldnt use them anyway

  • @jayry55 it already did get 2.1 i got the update before the nexus one came out!

  • When 2.1 comes to the Droid it will be the complete full version not a incomplete version. You can already get parts of Android 2.1 ported from the Nexus One to the Motorola Droid this is the incomplete part you are talking about because the parts you can port over are just that parts of 2.1 so this is incomplete but when the OTA update comes out for the Droid it will be the complete full version. Some Droids have already gotten this OTA but I am still waiting for my update.

  • @pyro74boy you're forgetting the nexus 1s hardware graphics acceleration amoled screen and double the ram of the droid

  • @jjbdoggg I have not yet even rooted my Droid and its lighting fast just the way it is so this is not a issue for me so no I am not forgetting this. That's not to say that I don't like the Nexus One but I just cant see myself buying a phone that I already have.

  • have any of u witnessed a fully tweaked hd2...its CRAZY...that damn device is almost equivalent to an MID....you can consider it a hybrid device or somthin lol

  • the nexus one is the best phone out there the only reason why the browser was slow is because it wasnt connected to wifi anf the other was so get over it

  • At the end of his life, the deadliest gunfighter of the Old West is given a choice: Hell or redemption. He chooses redemption and God's Archangel transports him to modern day Los Angeles to serve bloody, frontier justice on the worst dregs of society.

  • i think the sense ui gallery is better than the nexus's and the droid's gallery's

  • agreed although ever switch in and out is laggy i do enjoy

  • damn the nex one is slow as hell

  • Cuz T-Mobile is slow as hell LOL

  • I prefer the 2.0 app tray rather than the 3d 2.1.

  • damn the nex is so slow in web browser and the droid had less bars!

  • not to sound bitchy he was running on wifi not edge or 3g

  • droid/milestone wins

  • nexus one is best out droid is a paper weight and will never be as hard as the nex!

  • stop doin the dog fights always wit the nexus do something else im getting sick of the nexus

  • the nexus one is pretty much the best phone out there, so its a good comparison.

  • but it gets anoying they shoud do more reviews not just on the nexus 1

  • same shit happened to me 2 days ago...lets go to carvel and eat all the ice cream we can to make us feel better :(

  • my friend has the motorola droid and he loves it. i personally think nexus is better one!

  • the nexus is missing a lot of features the droid has

  • lol nice review, but do look into the camera during the wrap up. I feel like you're cross-eyed.

  • maybe u r

  • loooool

  • Just a couple of thoughts, for me while the N1 is great most people who are tech savy knows that the snapdragon isn't worlds faster than the arm cortex 8 for several reason one being the dedicated GPU.

The speed boost in the N1 come from its ram, and 2.1 primarily. processor speed is very misleading at times.

That being said I'd advise for people to look throughly at both phones before buying one. For me I'm not a fan of thin phones they tend to break a lot easier.

  • noa , what phone do u recomend me , for t mobil

  • the nexus one will be better once on verizon

  • noah is an iphone fan

that is why he likes the nexus one's form factor and such. also snapdragon did not impress me as loaded the webpage MUCH slower then the droid

  • lol

  • it was on edge

  • Lol, the translator is REALLY out of focus..

  • @nadiyanadine38 me too

  • can u do 2.1 on droid?

  • yes

  • there is supposed to be an update for the droid early spring so then it will run the same software as the nexus

  • yes

  • I don't know if this has been said before, but the Nexus One got an over-the-air update this week and now it supports pinch to zoom in browser, maps and gallery.

  • No Cons? That's a first

  • @Element3129 First of all the higher resolution display is a huge plus for the Droid and I have seen these two and the display on the Droid is flat out better end of story. Second yes I do agree with you that the hardware keyboard on the Droid is not the greatest yes but its not the worst one as well and this is something that the Droid can do that the N1 cant. you can overclock the processor speed on the Droid to be faster then the N1. Android 2.1 is coming to the Droid.

  • droid oced to 1ghz with multitouch milestone browser and multitouch 2.1 3d gallery wins.

nexus is a nice phone though.

  • I love the way you people talk about multitouch like it's the second coming of goddamn Christ. I'm running a multitouch-less phone right now, and it works just fine. GET OVER IT!

  • nice plaid shirt Noah

  • is the nexus one laggy at all? i have a g1 right now and it takes a few seconds to load the home screen whenever i hit the home button. if the nexus doesnt do that then i definitely want one.

  • I think all Droid ownders dont like the nexus one because they are annoyed the fact they bought what they thought was a good android phone. But google released an even better one a few months later.

  • I own the Droid but I am not annoyed by the fact that the Nexus One has come out for many reasons I mean the Droid has a higher resolution display and has a hardware keyboard two things that the N1 lacks and if you root the Droid you can overclock the processor speed on the Droid to be the same as the N1. What about the fact that it shows right on this video that the internet was slower on the N1 vs the Droid a major issue, Also keep in mind that Android 2.1 is coming out any day for the Droid

  • don't you guys ever do a little research before bitching out...and for fuck sake are you really that blind?

Didnt you see that the Nexus one was running on tmobile edge while the android is connected to wifi?

    I mean really....

  • @denniss4000

I am not blind I feel that both are great phones but to say that that the Nexus One is better then the Motorola Droid is a matter of opinion and lets face it the Droid has a better display and a hardware keyboard not to mention is also more durable vs the N1 What about the fact that the Droid comes with a 16 GB SD card and the N1 comes only with a 4 GB SD card. Android 2.1 is already out with a OTA for the Droid So be very careful before you Declare the Nexus One the winner.

  • Why are you even running 2.0 on the DROID in this video? DROID is now running 2.0.1 from the update which fixes some bug fixes and makes the phone feel a little faster...

  • PNoah u kinda discrimate a Droid I think... The Droid is absolutely better then nexus one and android 2.1 cant save nexus :)

  • good stuff

  • The Dolphin web browser for Android DOES do excellent multi-touch / pinch to zoom on Android devices such as the droid. It's free in Android market. The "android doesn't do multi-touch" argument is null and void.

  • pm me for a lockerz invite ill get back right away

  • /watch?v=zbkrpXTU8N8

  • Hahaha, the multitouch update came right after this.

  • to the nexus one took like 22 minutes to display the webpage that´s bad

  • you are soo blind...didnt you see its running on tmobile edge...while droid is connected to wifi..

he should have specify that in the video...thats dumb..now he will cause flame war

  • @denniss4000

uh they both have the wifi icon on the notification bar.

  • I heard that there are easy hacks to get multitouch.

  • Droid FTW!!!!!!!!

  • Good review. But your forgeting the n1 update with multitouch nd the droid's update tht made the camera faster along with other stuff. Also droid should be getting the 2.1 update in a couple weeks.

  • if you are going to voice text you might aswell talk to the person on the phone lol

  • @vzw88 the Nexus One has more than you say, speech to text EVERYWHERE! Way more user friendly! Simple startup... Like all androids... But almost EVERYTHING has been updated on 2.1 and enhanced.

  • Ya but whats the big deal about 2.1 when the droid will have it in a few weeks.

But I kinda wounder about HTC how they take abuse since they are so close and I like the droids keyboard I wanna talk to someone who is abusive like me (drops getting wet etc) who owns a HTC so far I've had a few Motorolas and they have been much tougher than LG, Samsung, and Nokia. Kinda why I never got an iphone I know I'd break it quickly.

  • the last HTC phone i had (the G1) went through hell with me, filled with battle scars but, my Nexus just feels fragile i've droped it 4 or 5 times now and its ok but who knows what it can handle lol

  • @sidewayznut2009 I've had 2 motorola die on me, 1 nokia which was having receptions where other phones were having none (some places in the rockies) and 1 samsung which I demonstrated to my whole family and friends that i can literaly trow from way back of my yard unto my patio several times and it still functions like a beast, must have drop this phone a thousand times at least

  • Ya my friend has a Samsung Blackjack he used for two years he says its indestructible

I got a Moto Q right now been in the washing machine in diesel in I shut it in the hood of a car (by the window where the water drains) couldn't find it and got rained on for two days STILL works great.

Then dropping I've dropped it two stories and drop it daily almost. I can't beat it.

I'm a diesel mechanic plus welder so all kinds of shit happens.

I think its the model of Samsung I got.

  • However I've had 5 Nokias and they are shit and one LG but known lots of people who got them and they break alot.

I've had 4 Motorolas but only 1 Samsung and no Sony Ericson

Between you and my friend I guess Samsung is gonna be num 2 on my list since I've had such good luck with Motorola.

But I'm open to trying HTC I just wanna make sure it'll last 6 months haha.

  • I had the HTC Touch Pro and it was a complete failure. Just saying.

  • Good to know.

thing is I'm rough on phones I've only had Motorola last me more than 3 months which I actually had one for 2 years and it still works it was a Razr V3i with that said I had a regular V3 that didn't last but it was off of ebay first and last phone to get like that it was a chinese replica. before then I never thought of someone copying a phone

  • Great review as usual noah

  • noah, you should put a note in with the nexus ones update today.

  • Im just wondering...if nexus has a superior chipset then why did it take a shit load longer to load then droid...Id take the arm cortex 600 mhz processor WITH GRAPHICS ACCELERATOR! any day over the snapdragon 1 GHZ...infact i did...i bought the nokia n900 instead

  • thats ur left shoulder

  • he was talking from our point of view...dick..lol

  • it was a joke...dick...

  • lol...how come all the review i saw, the nexus one have the problem with the for sensitive button...its just less responding...

  • yeah but it's covered by the same capacitive overlay so it should respond the exact same as the screen but the overlay doesn't cover the whole area of the buttons.

  • no....u just have to press harder witch i like...so u dont press when u dont mean to..

  • lmao the droid has never won a dogfight smh. @ phonedog it cant even win agains the glyde...

  • Then whats the time frame in which you can compare a phone to another phone? When people make purchases between similar products they have to compare. I have to compare in order to make the best decision for what fits my needs in a phone.

  • the nexus one just got an update that adds multi touch to the web , google maps, and picture app, making it much better then the droid. plus the nexus one will be out on Verizon soon. i would suggest waiting for the verizon version to come out, deff more bang for ur buck. adding multi touch (to me) makes it a tru competitor to the iphone 3gs

  • @russd456 The 3GS can NOT be a competitor. It is much older. Their apps stores can be compared, though. And in that, Nexus One hasn't had a chance yet, so I'm still not comparing them.

  • its not all just about hardware, the software is what makes the iphone great. my agrument is that the addition of multi to the nexus one has given it a better user experience, making it arguably more inticeing than the iphone if you want a more open o.s , better hardware, and multitasking ,personability etc..

  • does it show the location information Noah? haha :D

  • so unless you want to make ripples in the water or use your phone mainly on wifi than get the N1 cuz most of what the N1 does, Droid Does and what N1 doesnt Droid does DROOOID

  • in my opinion perhaps nexus is faster on wifi but on 3g droid is..droid has higher resolution, and 2.1 you suggest is more advanced?? cuz it has live wallpapers, 3d apps instead of draw, and new gallery effect lol those are gimmicks not necessities to make a phone more advanced the only advancement is the voice input for text.. regardless droid has a physical keyboard that with getting used to works fine...droids touchscreen in the video responded more than the N1's did..

  • what about have more RAM and a 1 ghz processor? that is pretty much guarantees that the nexus one can get a android 3.x update.

  • LOL Why did he do a system update later!?!? he isnt even using the latest Droid os...Nexus fanboy much?

  • i am happy right now. that is the first time i have hear the word fanboy place next to anything beside iphone. finally it doesn't all revolve around iphone! lol. i am not an apple hater.

  • So basically what you're saying is that the GooPhone is better because of the software which you will be able to get on the Droid soon anyway...

  • Cant wait till 2.1 comes to the Droid. It has multi touch.

  • Inter-OS fanboyism, LOL.

  • The N1 touch sensitive keys are HORRIBLE..you clicked them 5 TIMES..the N1 told about 2 MINUTES after the droid was finished..the N1 is good..but i personally this Hardware wise the DROID is more responsive.

  • It's because people think you just simply skim your finger over it. It is meant to be pushed like a button (Not saying crush down on it) lol

  • Based off what i have experienced with my droid..i have had zero problems with those bottom buttons..

  • Same here, it just took me a day to get used to them coming from the G1 and Cliq. lol

  • Two major issues with the Nexus One in this video that you forget to point out first the touch screen on the Nexus One is not as responsive vs the Droids. Second the web pages on the Droid seem to load much faster on the Droid vs the N1 and you also forgot to talk about the fact that you can root the Droid and over clock the processor speed to be faster then the Nexus One. You don't point out the weakness of the Nexus One and these are major ones. Oh yeah there is no hardware keyboard on the N1.
